ive come to the conclusion that on handhels at least, atlus pumps out a better lineup than anyone else on the market hands down

as a result, with the exception of AA, i am no longer buying games that arent made or picked up by atlus.

thoughts?

that's dumb. figures you'd say it.

and there's nothing to think about, aside from "wow, that guy is dumb, arbitrarily restricting himself to a tiny-ass library".

oh, and atlus doesn't actually make about 90% of the games they put out. have fun playing etrian odyssey, trauma center, and... oh wait that's about it.

I guess tht means more copies of games for people who don't stick to one thing. Seriously, if you stick to Atlus, you will miss out on alot of games.
So, since you will stick to Atlus, that means you will only buy games for consoles that are made by Atlus, what a shame.

now idk about you people but speaking from a handheld pov i have either bought or emulated alll of atlu's games on gba/ds and i cant seem to find 1 that i hate with a passion. atlus makes solid choices as to what games to localize and their inhouse stuff isnt too bad either

Thirteen words:

I found Riviera the Promised Land to a major disapointment of awful proportions. <3 zudh's gone on about this, like, eight times though, so I'm not gonna start repeating anything.

I do love the Nippon Ichi games that Atlus publishes, though, as well as the original Personas. Not Persona 3.

Odin Sphere is ultimately excellent. Much better than Etrian Odyssey (though both are great).

Except that Nippon Ichi as a publisher sucks.

EDIT : Lately, Atlus hasn't been on much of a roll. I'd suggest going against your pledge and looking up other stuffs.

I can never remember what Nippon Ichi made or published or whatever, but I did love the PS2 strategy RPG's (La Pucelle, etc) which is more or less what I actually meant.

Atlus makes some great niche RPGs for handhelds, but they are mostly niche and are no where near the greatness of other console and handheld RPGs.

They published everything themselves from Phantom Brave and beyond. Quite frankly, anything that isn't sRPG and from Nippon Ichi is to be avoided like the plague.

I remember ATLUS made a RPG GAME that had repetitive MUSICAL SINGING...Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure.

This game is still VERY RARE after it flopped.

wow you're just missing the mark today

SMT is an in-house Atlus project. It's one of the few things they do themselves.

Actually that's a Nippon Ichi game that was published by Atlus.

The musical RPG was awesome, they just released it in so few numbers that it went under the radar.

Atlus published SRW OG 1&2 for release in North America, so to me they're worthy of some praise. Now, if only they'll license OGs (PS2 remake) for NA release after it launches it Japan.

Restricting your purchases to only buying games they are involved in is ridiculous! Not only are there dozens of great games you will miss out on because of this, and you'll be buying only a small handful of games, but Atlus isn't even that great. I dig what they do, but they localise plenty of shit (Rule of Rose, anyone?) and rarely any AAA titles.

Somehow, I don't think you thought your cunning plan all the way through.

Atlus are a great publisher... not many would take chances trying to release niche, curious, bizarre, offbeat type of games in the West. Probably explains their low print runs (please make more!) and usual in-demand status 2-3 months after release as people start to release they can't find them.

For all their later stuff, there is one game I am always truly thankful for them bringing over here... Snowboard Kids!
