You need to download PWLib Core 1.1 and the PWLib GFX Package 2.0 (for PWLib 1.1). The Core 1.1 contains the engine and such, while the GFX package contains the animations and other graphics. Then you extract the the GFX into the PWLib Core, and you should be all set.

You may also want the helpful (but slightly old) instruction book, PWLib In A Nutshell, for learning how to use PWLib.

You might also want to download "Notepad++". I found it invaluable when I was learning to use PWLib.

Yes, I have found Notepad++ to be much more useful than regular old Notepad, as it is much more suited to coding games than a simple text editor.

Hm... does AIGE support multiple MP3 channels?

EDIT: Never mind, apparently it does. I was wondering because the "Objection" and such SFX in the Phoenix revamp were mp3, but apparently it'll work fine with music in the background.

AIGE supports mp3, ogg and the other formats on all 4 types of audio lines: BGM (Background Music), AMB (Ambient), SFX (Sound Effects, on all 40+ slots) and on the MBT (Message Box Ticking Sound).

Yeah, I noticed you can't add a sfx to the first frame of an animation. You have to start it on the second frame.

Added fixed Phoenix.

I'll look into it, but the workaround is simple:
-The first frame will have a wait time of 0 and wil use the same gfx as the second frame.]
The idea is to add a first frame with time 0, but I'll try to look into it.

You can also put in your own defining language, so you can get pretty and colorful Syntax Highlighting which can on occasion help point out if you have used an incorrect function or if you have not closed a bracket (if suddenly an entire sentence is blue)
This is the file I use with my copy of Notepad++. Simply extract the file inside into the folder where you have Notepad++ installed. (Or if you already have userDefineLang, open the file up and copy from <UserLang name="PWLib" ext="hlsl aigehls"> to </UserLang>

Yes.

Ambient is things like water sounds and bird tweets that are used to complement the BGM. I took the idea from RPG Maker.

If I get the gfx, making a Kenji UI is simple.

No.

I has the idea ages ago (during jeti's time), but for some reason I forgot to "put it active".
Then today he commented about it and I decided to make it official (even though he was like staff as you mentioned, yggdrasil).

DDRKhat is a hardworking guy that did a lot for PWLib, so it was honest with him for me to do an official announce when he commented about it.

I'm considering into expanding the concept to those who want to get involved with PWLib more deeply, but that is, yet, just an idea.

Thank you. Ultimately my goal is to take alot of the frustration KSA has had over the past while which has caused him to turn sour towards other users and developers so that he can spend more time doing what he loves. In turn this means that we will have a happier Engine developer whom will have more time on his hands to provide us with what we need to be able to make successful games on his hard-worked application.

I will also be involved in making a system seperate to Shinku which will be for the "scripting terrified" at a later date, this could ultimately end up in a Graphical GUI for almost all of what a user might need to be able to make their case.
This will not be overshadowing Shinku, as Shinku will still ultimately have more power of freedom but for the general user they are trying to simply make a Phoenix Wright game and so I will be making scripts to allow that as easily as possible the downside to this is that they will be much more restrictive.
If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything!

Yeesh. Late to the party here but I decided to try this thing out and I followed the instruction ("In a Nutshell") guide and I can't seem to get it to work.

Here's the script for the startup file.

Code:
//    This program is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify
//    it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by
//    the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or
//    (at your option) any later version.

//    GNU General Public License for more details.

//    You should have received a copy of the GNU General Public License
//    along with this program.  If not, see <http://www.gnu.org/licenses/>.

//This file is the entrypoint file for any AIGE game: startup.aigehls
//First we include the game's starting script
//#include(game.hlsl)

//Just like most languages, an entrypoint function is defined. In AIGE HLSL this function is [main]
//You're not obligated to put the main function in this file, but it is recommended to do so.
[main]
//Render and Process System Events to protect not found scripts
render();
processsystemevents();
//We are jumping to the function game that must be present on the game's files. (using runscript here isn't recommended)
jumptoscript("game");
include(tutogame.hlsl);
waitresponse();

And this is the tutogame.hlsl script

Code:
include(pwlib/pwlib.hlsl)

[game]
runscript("pw_initpwlib");
waitresponse();

I THINK everything is in the right order but every time I start up AIGE it constantly says the script "game" can't be found.

Nor can it link tutogame.hlsl script either. I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong here and I understand the basics of what the code is saying but it just doesn't work...

#include(tutogame.hlsl);

And I think it needs to be before the jumptoscript("game");
Try putting it right after the line:
Code:
//#include(game.hlsl);

Putting it like this gives me the same message. Removing the "//" next to #include(tutogame.hlsl) seems to do the same. I don't know if it's just my computer or maybe some faulty AIGE thing but none of it seems to properly connect when I try to toggle it.

Remove the second #include, and take away the // on the first tutogame include. Having it down there confuses it, from what I can guess.

do you happen to notice that you have
//#include(game.hlsl) ?
For the computer, a "//" means, "Ignore this line". So you are telling it NOT to include your game.hlsl or tutogame.hlsl.
Code:
#include(game.hlsl)

//Just like most languages, an entrypoint function is defined. In AIGE HLSL this function is [main]
//You're not obligated to put the main function in this file, but it is recommended to do so.
[main]

//We are jumping to the function game that must be present on the game's files. (using runscript here isn't recommended)

I kinda thought so. But the problem is that even when I remove the "//" and get rid of the second one it still gives me this little error message.

Image

So... FYI this is my current code.

Code:
//#include(game.hlsl)
#include(tutogame.hlsl)

//Just like most languages, an entrypoint function is defined. In AIGE HLSL this function is [main]
//You're not obligated to put the main function in this file, but it is recommended to do so.
[main]
//Render and Process System Events to protect not found scripts
render();
processsystemevents();
//We are jumping to the function game that must be present on the game's files. (using runscript here isn't recommended)
jumptoscript("game");
waitresponse();

#include(filepath)

filepath is relative to AIGE.exe.

#include(mygame.hlsl) says for AIGE to use the file mygame.hlsl present at the same folder as AIGE.exe
#include(gam/fil.hlsl) says for AIGE to use the file "fil.hlsl" present at the folder "gam" on the folder that AIGE.exe is.

@Lt. Morke

I did it. Got the same result.

I'm seriously begging to think I may have somehow downloaded a bad copy of AIGE.

Or maybe my computer just hates it. :/

Sorry if this is frustrating at all but it just doesn't seem to work.

@KSA_Tech

Thanks for the explanation man but it still doesn't add up for me. I followed the tutorial to a tee and read all of the chapter 00 stuff and it still fails to work. So something is just... wrong here I guess?

The problem might be that the file is in fact tutogame.hlsl.txt (due to hidden extensions on windows) instead of tutogame.hlsl.
It is a common problem with inclusion on AIGE.
