So basically, I want to get a tattoo (nothing too cliché, but then again what isn't these days?) and I was wondering who here had tattoos and suggestions for my own. I was thinking of a grim reaper on one of my arms/shoulders, though I'm pretty sure that's a generic idea. Any suggestions? I'm also dangerously close to getting a tongue piercing (wtf?) and I'm not sure why. Ideas, please.

To be frank, I wouldn't do it. They're a pain to remove later on when you regret it or get older, and also very often end up pretty ugly. That's just me though.

If you're going for a tatoo choose something small and simple. Intricate and large designs such as the grim reaper on your arm may sound good on paper, but rarely look very good and get worse over time.

And tongue piercings...just don't do it.

:redd: :redd: :redd:

*cough*

Just REALLY think about it for a few weeks beforehand. I got my tongue pierced because I was bored. Which isn't exactly a great excuse LOL, and the healing is a bitch, you have to live off soup for 2 weeks because your tongue is about 3 times thicker. But eating a lot of ice pops was fun.

And people assume stuff about you if you have your tongue pierced LOL

Same with the tattoo really, take your time to think. I woke up one morning and decided to get one, but I got it on my hand :redd: hahaha what a fucking dumbass. I've had it 3 years and already regret it. When I'm older I'll be kicking myself.

I'm hoping to get a tattoo in summer though. I want something on my foot.

I really want a tattoo. I just haven't gotten up the nerve to get it yet. XD (I want a tattoo of my family crest, perhaps on my shoulder blade.)

I don't think it would be a bad idea to get a tattoo.
I think it would be a bad idea to get a tattoo of something to large, in a widely shown spot.

If you are going to get one, I suggest getting maybe a smaller design, in a small place.

I'm terrified of pain and a total crybaby, but mine only hurt a little. I think the noise is worse than anything else *shudder* I'm really up for getting another one now :will:

I WAS going to get one that went down my spine but...... I realised that would probably kill me LOL

Just remember to eat a full meal beforehand because my friend passed out during hers :redd:

And you have a family crest?! That's so cool!

Well, I'm assuming you had good reasons when you put on the other tattoo as well. Think it through - just saying.

I never had a good reason to have something permanently drawn onto my hand. I was an idiot 18 year old with nothing better to do with a Saturday morning.

I'm definitely thinking the next one through properly :will:

Tinker: Yeah, I definitely understand your line of thought.

Gozu: Your sarcasm isn't lost on me.

crouton: At least if you got a tattoo of your family crest it would be more symbolic than 99% of those out there.

loobywright: Well, I think if I did decide to get one, it wouldn't be on my hand. I never even considered that before. I would think it over a great deal however.

I'm going abroad for a month (England) and I was thinking of things to do while I'm up there (not that there's a lack of things to do). I'm not always the most impulsive person, so maybe a small tattoo would make me happy, at the very least. I absolutely would not trust any tattoo artists living here. I'm not necessarily trying to make a statement - I did however think the grim reaper would have a sense of irony seeing as I'm in the medical field. What's more off-putting than a future doctor wearing unseen ink symbolizing death? Then again, maybe I'll re-think that one.

You're going to have it done in England? Good luck *scaremongering* haha joke they're pretty good over here. You should prob go on the internet and research the tattooists in the area you're visiting. Most are amazing but there's one where I live and he always mucks them up apparently.

Why wouldn't you trust tattoo artists where you are?

As I was discussing with my good friend zuddy, the whole idea of a tattoo of Death wasn't a serious one. He gets to know this because he is my good friend, that zuddy fellow. How about one saying "OBJECTION!" rite gai- wait, what oral sex experiences have you had with pierced tongues, good friend zuddy? I am offended that you haven't shared with me, good friend.

Well, looks like once my friend goes to get one of her tattoos redone, I'm going to get my family crest done. ^_^ Now, I just need to find a place to put it. I'm really thinking on my shoulder blade, that would be kind of cool. Probably painful, though.

That's what I thought your first tattoo would be.

Anything you can cover up sounds good to me because you never know where you might end up. Many places still frown upon tattoos.

I don't think I could get one myself; that's too much pain for me.
