Jesus Christ.

The point was NOT about energy saving, smartasses.
It was about reducing light pollution.

Also, Johnny Rotan, my dick's fine the way it is.

Shit like that doesn't accomplish anything except for giving some greenies the illusion of getting a bigger dick.

I don't think you know what light pollution is. Also, according the the OP's post, that wasn't the point.

I wasn't aware it was the night of Earth Day, But i was running around turning a lot of stuff off, partially because I hate having a lot of stuff on. Once I realized Earth Hour passed, I was.."fuzzled"
I probably would've tried harder if I knew x3

Earth Day is April 22nd. Unless you mean the other Earth Day which is the March Equinox, but that wasn't the 28th of March.

I haven't. My parents won't allow because they were auditing our expenses in our business. Furthermore, they didn't listen to me and my sister.

I.... forgot :/ About an hour later, my mom runs into the room saying, "OMG we forgot to turn off the lights!"
I would have done it if I remembered since it's fun to pretend there's a blackout and resort to other sources... like playing the DS in the dark with my PSP playing music buuuuuuuuut I forgot, so there's not much I can do about it now. 'Sides, it's obvious that turning the lights off for an hour won't stop the problems we have now, but it is an opportunity for the news to have a field day over nothing =D

I don't think you know what I know is light pollution. Alternatively, explain because you can't say I'm wrong and leave me wondering what is right.

...And honestly; according to the actual campaign -at least over here- that was the point. Also it's pretty logical considering they could've just done a 'no power' campaign if energy was the point.

Light pollution is a have or don't have. It not like air or water where it sits there for a while. So reducing it for one day so we can all see the stars is stupid and also last time I check it was for energy and not light.

You're aware that the whole earth hour-thing was symbolic, right guys?

haha that's what I was thinking for like most of this thread.

I turned off my lights ... I even showered with no lights. =] hey, it was kinda cool to run around in the dark for a while.

I don't get the whole "turning lights off for an hour won't stop global warming" argument. of course things don't happen instantly - it's about raising awareness and taking little steps. if you think earth hour's not having big enough of an impact, go do something more.

Well, that's true. Light pollution is, from what I've always learnt, the bad effects of human-made light; the example I've always known was that "you can't see the stars in a city".

..

that's pretty philosophical now I think about it, dude.

Well yeah.

Either way it's more about the idea than actually solving anything.

you know what's better for the environment than turning lights off more often? going vegetarian
as well as carpooling or taking public transportation, and not leaving your heat or air conditioning on all the fucking time

Gozu, are you a vegetarian?

ON-TOPIC: Just like a lot of people here, I really had know idea of this, whatever it is.
