"The HALLway?" Zeth echoed in surprise, freezing on the spot, "What, this one?" glancing around, he was in front of the prosecution's room, with a long corridor of wallway, before a male and females toilet the other end. Glancing around further, he considered Marth's condition before she left the stage. She was pretty light headed looking. Maybe she simply collapsed from stress. She did seem like she was getting a hammering out there.... Sighing loudly, Zeth shook his head, I don't have time for this... I need to get Al's approval for my defence. Listening at the door, he heard the sobs of a man from somewhere within the room. Widening his eyes in confusion, Zeth looked at the door handle. This isn't normal- why is the defence in the prosecutor's lounge for? What is that Mercad doing to him?!

Grabbing the door handle, and giving it a twist, Zeth barged into the Prosecutor's lounge to talk to Al.

((<edit>Ok- I'm assuming Lucias is in there now, and Al is upset.</edit>))

"Y-yes, I did," Martha said. "Let's see...In the courtroom, I couldn't speak very loudly, I didn't know where my water was...Then, during the recess, I...hallucinated. I saw my reflection in the mirror, but it moved on its own and spoke to me. Then, I was wandering through the hallway when I couldn't see...What does it sound like, doctor?"

"Sounds like a psychotic drug mixed with something else." A nurse told Martha. "We're testing for it right now.... Whatever it may be."

"So someone did drug me," Martha said. "Well, if this is a psychotic drug, then it'll wear off soon, right? I mean, I can't hallucinate forever, can I?"

"If it's a drug, then no, you can't. But if it's a poison, it might. Unless we find an antibody for it, of course." The same nurse told Martha.

"Well...Okay. I guess I should just hope it's a drug, then," Martha said. "Hm...Well, if I get out of here in time, I can still help for the trial, at least. I'm not completely useless...Which one do you think it is?"

"The order you explained your symptoms in suggests that it might be a drug." The same nurse told Martha. "However, it seems like it could also be a poison. Did your water taste weird?" He asked.

"No. Not that I noticed," Martha replied.

((EPIC FLASHBACK TIME! XD))
"We are offering some law students to participate in a real trial. Please fill out this form if you're interested. It seems someone was poisoned."
"Why would they think he did it?" Martha asked. "I mean, judging by what we saw of him, he doesn't seem the type..."
"His fingerprints were all over the bottle they found. It doesn't look good..."
"I don't think he did it. I think his wife committed suicide."
"Oh, really? Why would you think that, Ms. Fey?"
"I...It was just a guess..."

"Well that kinda rules out the idea that it was either a poison or a drug." He said. "We're still running the test, just in case you got exposed to some super bacteria or something like that. Are you sure the water didn't taste strange?"

"Well...To be honest...I mean, I wasn't focusing on how it tasted. I was too busy trying to put out the fire in my throat, figuratively speaking. It did taste...Not quite right, but not in a bad way..." Martha struggled to remember.

"... I see." With that, the nurse left the room. But before he left, he said "if something happens, let us know." And that was that.

Which, naturally, gave Martha more time to think...And more time to feel guilty about what happened. It may not have been her fault, but she still felt she should have hung in there. Don't worry, Al. I won't abandon you. I'll help as soon as I get out of this place...This is the first time I've ever wanted to be the spirit medium that I am so badly. I'm not even sure if I can do it correctly anymore...

((*cough* Sorry about the absence. I actually may need an update-PM on a few details concerning the case itself, but other than that, I am all set. Aside from Al, who I actually didn't know was in the lounge. Works for me, though. XD))

The lounge itself was not any fancier than the defendant's lobby-- it had seats, decorations adorning the walls, and several plants. Lucias was turned facing away from the door, so when it slammed open, he instantly jumped.

"Hm!? ...Ah, who are you?" Lucias said as he turned, his hand reaching out of his briefcase. "You know that people not affiliated with the show, staff, court or parties legally allowed due to relation to the case at hand are not allowed back here under any circumstance."

"Haven't you heard about Martha?" Zeth asked in shock, "She just collapsed 5 minutes ago. They've been looking for a replacement lawyer for her. I've offered my services. I'm not sure if you've heard of me, but my name is Zeth Gant. I am just about to ask your defence if he wishes me to defend him."

Offering his hand to Lucias, Zeth's face suddenly turned very expressionless as he seemed to be deep in thought. Adopting a court case right in the middle of it. He realised just how unprepared for this case he was in comparison to his usual ones. Forcing away the look of nervousness off his face as he waited for Lucias to shake his hand, Zeth looked the prosecutor straight in the eye, hoping some leads may inspire his first argument. How am I going to get the Don to crack?

((Um... if your character would care about other lawyers and stuff, Zeth is more likely known for his slightly more dubious past. Some of his court cases had proof that seemed a little too good to be true. If you know this, you'd know about the rumours of him being a detective AND a Lawyer, and the gossip of how people think that he uses this to his advantage. This is here say however. No one has managed to prove any of it. Does he have anything Zeth might've heard about? Zeth is the type to pay close attention to character types.))

((Lucias is a bit flaky at times, especially out of court. He isn't very well known, but that is supposed to be by his own volition, and how he manages to win cases by letting them 'win themselves' at times. As for knowing Zeth's name, it's plausible, I mean why not, but even people who know ones name may not know the face it matches with, so it works.))

"Hm... ah, I do know your name. It sounds familiar, at least." Lucias said, snapping his fingers. He shook Zeth's hand with a quick, firm grip. "So Martha isn't gonna return? Well, Al's been placed here for the time being, so as long as you don't mind my being here, I have no qualms with you chatting with him."

'From that look a second ago, you seem as well-set as Martha.' He thought, blankly.

Still gripping Lucias' hand firmly, Zeth's face suddenly turned into an examining one, as he noticed his sudden cool expression. Narrowing his eyes in determination, Zeth suddenly adopted a slight smirk,

"Fantastic," Zeth simply replied, finally letting go of Lucias' hand and striding towards Al. Sitting on the couch beside Al, Zeth put on a serious expression as he turned to him.

"Mr Machino," Zeth addressed, getting Al's attention the best he could despite his poorly disposition, "Miss Fey has just been submitted to the ER due to her collapsing in the hallway about 5 minutes ago. Do you understand what this means, Machino? You currently have no lawyer, and you need one now for a fair verdict to be made.” Zeth paused for a moment, adopting a slight smile as if to be friendly, “If you trust me, I'll defend you in court." Quickly glancing at Lucias listening beside them, Zeth felt slightly unnerved that he didn't get the option to say this in private. "But I need your full trust in me. You can't remain silent anymore. There is far more at stake than your freedom anymore. Are you ok with this?"

Al continued to cry, but his mumbling suggested he was trying to say something. His crying made it so it was nearly impossible for him to talk. He let out a loud, sorrowful groan, then continued crying again. It doesn't look like you'll get a straight, understandable answer from him, but one could argue that taking Martha's place could be what Al wants.

Zeth sighed, as he watched Al crying for a moment, "Well, this is a start," Zeth smiled slightly, rubbing his temples in thought. He's STILL crying? I need to know what happened somehow...

"Write," Zeth said firmly, stuffing his pen and paper in front of Al, "I don't care how relevant the point, how detailed or not detailed you make it. I need to know what you remember of that night even if I can't have your testimony. I need a lead to find the truth. Anything you can remember from the night. Even if it's only bullet points or feelings. Remember,” Sitting Al back to an upright with his hands, Zeth forced him to sit at a good posture for a moment, “You love your family. Leave the rest up to me.” Giving Al a grin, Zeth released his hold, hoping that Al would adopt the better posture, and adopt a posture that didn’t’ feel so depressing to be in.

((Cause you always slump when your sad, but you hold your head high when you’re happy))
((I’d like to think that this is important enough to Al to be able to write even if he’s not coherent enough to converse…))

Al stopped crying a bit, but only because he needed to see the paper. His face still express deep sorrow and it was apparent that he was holding in his tears. He drew 4 stick figures, labeling one of them as "Al" and labeling the other's as "Men". The "Men" were shooting at "Al". It's irrelevant to the case entirely, but appears to be a clue that might make suspect Don even more, if one has seen him before.

Zeth looked at the drawing, and frowned. Just as I suspected. A gang war, and I'm pretty sure Captain obvious is the ring leader of them all (Don- his emotions are like reading a book to Zeth. He's REALLY not trying to hide them)

Giving Al a smile, Zeth slipped his note book and pen away, "Ok, that clarifies a few things. I have one last question. Real easy- it's a yes or no. Do you remember being at the Italian restaurant that day having dinner with your family in that back corner of the room that night at ALL? Or were you and your family somewhere else that night around the time of the murder?"

Al shook his head no. That's all he could communicate at the moment. The way things are looking now, it's best to leave Al alone. It doesn't look like Al is willing to talk any more about the case.

((It's ok- I was only asking if he remembered. I'll assume that he didn't T.T ))

Zeth glanced aside in thought for a moment and considered the situation. Well, atleast I've been taking notes during the court case, I'm not totally in the dark.... Glancing back at Al, a flush of excitement suddenly went through him, Actually, this is rather a gamble. Maybe it'll be more enjoyable if I didn't have this one wrapped around my finger like I normally do. Just like the good old days. Giving Al a more than enthusiastic grin, Zeth rose to his feet.

"Well, your case is quite the challenge, but you've given it to the right guy," Zeth said, suddenly cracking up with laughter, "Leave it all up to me!"

Turning around, Zeth gave Lucias a friendly jab in the shoulder, and motioned towards the door, "Lets get this show on the road. Our audience awaits us."

Striding happily towards the door to the bailiff, Zeth headed for the court room.

The bailiff signaled to a staff member on the other side of the courtroom, which resulted in that staff member getting some water for Zeth. "The water is going to be placed at the defense desk. If you have any concerns about the water, let us know." The bailiff told Zeth. "In the mean time, is the prosecutor ready?" The bailiff asked.

((Time for some bumpage!))

Martha turned on the call light. She felt so incredibly hot, yet she was shivering under the blankets. She was sweating and shaking uncontrollably. Martha reached for her water, but she was shaking so hard that she only managed to succeed in spilling it everywhere. What was wrong with her? She couldn't have been poisoned in the hospital, could she? She stared at herself, the illusion smiling jeeringly at her.
"Go away!" Martha rasped. She was seeing spots, even though she only lying down. She breathed deeply, hoping it would help.

Lucias set himself up at his bench, reassessing the situation while sucking on a candy. This whole thing felt uneasy to him-- for one, he had never had a defense attorney get sick in the middle of court.

((Well now it's back :D)).

"Ah! Everyone's ready!" The bailiff said to himself. "Now to continue the trial!" The bailiff then made his way to the courtroom.
-----------------------------------
A nurse came in about a minute after Martha pushed the call light. "Is there something you need?" He asked. "I see you spilled your water. I'll go get some more for you." He said, taking the empty cup, then leaving the room.
-----------------------------------
"Court is now back in session!" The bailiff yelled. "We have found our replacement attorney! The trial will resume. Let's go in and introduce our attorney to the case!"

The audience then filed back into the courtroom, as the bailiff made his way backstage.
-----------------------------------
"Here's your water." The nurse said, as he came back into the room, setting the cup beside Martha. "Is there anything else you need?" He asked. "How are you doing?"
-----------------------------------
"Ladies and gentlemen," the bailiff began, with the microphone in his hand, "let's meet our new defense attorney, Mr..........." The bailiff trailed off as he stood by Zeth, holding the microphone toward his face.
