"Well then, if you all seem so keen on going about as if a murder hasn't happened or if you wish to search for the killer...be my guest!" The shout had come so suddenly, and yet so loud.

"But I shall have no part in this "game" we are apparently playing. I have a ninety nine percent of focus on leaving this dreadful island!" She took a deep breath to calm herself.

"You, girl." Valarie turned to the maid. "When dinner is ready, you will notify me and I will let you know of my decision regarding these dreadful events. Until then, I bid you all farewell."

She swung her silk scarf around her and turned around, her heels knocking against the floor of the corridors until she reached her room, upon which Valarie entered.

Karmine turned his attention to the short lady in the maids uniform. she was pulling out a clipboard with a list of names on it. She asked for his name. "Oh! My name is Artemis Karmine!" Just look for it under 'K,' I'm sure you'll find it" Karmine said quickly. The others were debating on what to do. The doctor was freaking out about the concept of investigating alone, while the skinny lad was seemingly having an internal struggle. Maybe he had indigestion? at any rate, Karmine decided to check out his room as soon as possible. It had just occurred to him that, since he had been late, the killer might have been hiding in his empty room! "We'll see about that." muttered Karmine as he picked up his bags (again) and waited for the maid to find his room number. The weapon seemed to be a knife of some sort, and if the killer tried anything against Karmine with a knife, he would be in for a shock when it bounces off his bevor! ((a bevor is a metal neck brace))

((Sorry guys. I've been really busy.
Also, I'm going to be gone from this Saturday till next Thursday :payne:

So, I need to know, those who pm'd me, I can either RP the situation with Enigma here or if you're worried about secrets being revealed, we can pm the conversation, etc. Just want to make people happy :D
Also, I will proabably only be able to get to one person before the long break from me. So, you guys can either take a hiatus from here or you can make the mansion come alive by adding rooms and such... XD))

"Mr. Karmine?" Janice repeated. Looking down on her clipboard, she finally found the strange name. You'll be in room 275," she answered, pointing to the door a little ways down. "The one with the..." she faltered for a minute. Does that have a shield broken in half? Strange, she thought to herself.

Her attention was snapped, however, to the note one of the guests had. "She was... innocent? So she lost!? What kind of game is this!?" she mumbled to herself.
"There IS something on the back," Janice said aloud, taking the pieces of paper. "One is a newspaper clip about... a notorious Canadian thief... but the description gave by witnesses...perfectly describes Cassie..." Janice read aloud with surprise. A thief in the manor!? "Wait, there's another one..." she looked at the other newspaper clip. She at first read aloud silently to herself, then with a gasp, explained to the group.

"It's about that famous gem, the Star Emerald, that was stolen from a Canadian museum a few months ago," Janice explicated quickly. "It speaks about suspects and says that the police don't believe Cassie could have been the thief because... there was no calling card..." Janice kept reading, her voice getting higher and higher. "This article... is from today's newspaper!"

((I forgot what Cassie's real name was as a thief, so I may edit this :yuusaku:

Lol, yes, she was a Canadian thief; that was her secret. So, be aware, if anyone dies, your secret is revealed! Bwahaha XD

Karmine wandered away from the group as they were discussing the newspaper clipping about the murdered girl. as he reached his room, he noticed the broken shield plaque on it. strange, he thought. why is it broken? my armour is as tough as its ever been! deciding it was of no consequence, he entered his room and tossed his bags on his bead. Then he carefully searched the entire apartment, looking in the living area, the bedroom, and the bathroom. besides noticing that it was a very nice room, there was nothing of interest. Karmine felt a little put out. He had wanted to thwart the murderer! There was still time to do that though, as no one had found the killer yet. he checked his laptop and discovered that a message was in his inbox. he must have gotten a bar of service at some point, and received the message. but, his laptop should have beeped when it got the e-mail! he should have been able to notice that he briefly had access to the internet! why didn't it beep? as he was pondering this, Karmine walked back to the group, (after locking his door) which was still standing in the hallway. He caught the last part of the conversation, which was the skinny lad mentioning that he was a computer hacker. "Wait," said Karmine, interrupting them. "You're good with computers? could you take a gander at mine? it was supposed to alert me when i got an e-mail, but it didn't. i want to know what's wrong." He offered his laptop to Jet.

((Bookwyrm, this is an opportunity to take a closer look at my charecter's secret. since Karmine is midevil minded, he dosn't realize that a hacker can find out all of his personal information from his laptop. this is Karmine's work laptop, so the details of his real job (not ka-nighting) are in it))

Jet smiled and took the computer. He took a quick glance at the data file and scowled. "This looks bad. It's gonna take a night or so to locate the error, since someone seems to have downloaded some odd file." Taking the computer back to his room, he soon found the problem, but didn't fix it. Instead, he opened up the e-mail. The password was far too easy to crack, and he was soon within the highest level of security. But the e-mail made no sense. Joshua spoke up. "Not with what we've seen so far." "What do you mean?" "Let's read it again."

"OK, I still don't get it." "I think we need to pay a visit to Mr Memory" Click click click

Got a website! Wait, Another password? What kinda site is this?! Woah!Oh my......some of this stuff.... are you sure this is the one? Yep. See, here, under contacts. Kharmine........."Snigger". What? As Jet walked off with his laptop, Karmine smiled, pleased that he had found someone who could fix his confounded laptop. he swore that sometimes it was out to get him, and sometimes he had to go back to HQ to get it repaired (or, once, get a new one when he had smashed the old one under his mailed fist.) But now that he had found someone who could fix it for him, on site, well, that was just convenient. "Mabey I'll make him my squire" Karmine mused to himself as he went to bed for the night. two crossbows were rigged to fire at the bedroom door and window, just in case any murderous fellows tried to ambush Karmine while he was asleep.

(( Ok, i'm assuming a day has passed, or something like that. i'm also assuming that oliver took the body away, because if he didn't, its still lying spineless on the hallway carpet. Who is controlling the murderer? we people need some clues to catch them, so they need to show up every once in a while))

Valarie closed the door behind her, and pressed her back into it, breathing heavily. She needed a glass of wine...post haste. She walked over and immediately poured herself a drink, swallowing it just as quickly.

This changed everything. She hadn't been expecting this, not at all. Within the first few hours, her rehearsed idea had been crushed like a hand clenching a paper cup! What made it worse was that Mr Enigma had seemingly vanished from the mansion...was he even on the island?

...No, he had to be. He wasn't getting away that easily.

She tapped her index finger against the wine glass. This was nothing but a minor setback...there was no need that SHE couldn't go ahead with her own agenda...

The next morning Karmine was refreshed and invigorated. He got suited up, shaved, tugged his mask on, and un-rigged the crossbows that covered him during the night. Then he stepped out of his door and went up the hallway. "Let's see what the kitchens have got for us." he said to himself.

Karmine stepped into the mansion's kitchen. It was a large room full of ovens and dishwashers, and obvously designed to cater to a large number of guests. Racks of knives and wine glasses decorated the celing. But there was no one in the room. That's odd... thought Karmine. Shouldn't someone be preparing a meal to break the fast of all their guests? Oh well, I'll guess I'll have to make something myself. Karmine wandered around the kitchen, looking for food or the pantry or somthing. He found a door with a sign on it marked 'Pantry.' "Ah Ha!" he exclaimed. "Found you!" He tried opening the door, only to find that it was locked. Karmine was getting really hungry by now, and was thinking of maby cooking breakfast for everyone, since a cook still hadn't shown up yet. Visions of everyone complementing his skill at roasting mutton floating through his head, he drew his broadsword and rammed the lock with the point, compleatly ruining it, and opening the door. I'll give that maid lady some money to replace the door later. Karmine thought as he walked into the pantry.

But as he stepped through the threashold, a shadowy figure lept out at him and swipped his chest with a meat cleaver. Sparks flew into the air as Karmine lept back and the figure ran off into the dining room. "Hey! Come back here!" Karmine yelled, begining to pursue. He ran into the dining room in time to see the foyer door swinging on its hinges. His quarry was going for the front door! Since Karmine was building up speed, and, more importantly, inertia, he had no time to stop his heavy frame from bashing sraight through the door that connected the foyer and the dining room. I'll pay for that, too. He thought as he sucsessfully slowed himself down enough to not crash through the front door, which the as yet unidentified figure had obviously dashed through. Karmine swung it wide open and stepped out onto the front porch, sword in hand, ready for anything.

Except the cast-iorn frying pan that hit him square in the forehead, knocking him out cold.

BTW, my character is not dead, just knocked out on the front porch.))
