It kind of does.

But you know what? It still looks awesome.

This early impression of it has me pretty excited for the film in general.

And to think all of this came out of a dead Halo movie. Huh.

It looks pretty good from the two or so commercials I've seen, I may go see it.

When does it come out?

That's pretty much how blockbusters run these days. We either get Iron Man or Transformers.

District 9 was good stuff.

The inhuman looking alien being the most sympathetic character was a good change of pace.

This movie also had the best use of Mecha in a live action movie so far.

Pickens seal of approval.

Good lord it was the best mecha ever. I mean, pigs. COME ON, PIGS!

I saw the movie on Friday and really enjoyed it. The shaky cam in the beginning was a bit much (I hear it's made people sick). Not as spazzy as Cloverfield but the shift of style from "this is a documentary" to "this is a movie" was a little jarring for me. Not for the motion-sickness-prone. But I loved the story and characters, and the effects were great too. Very solid sci-fi action flick.

The guy who played Wikus did an amazing job for someone who's never done acting before. I wonder if he'll pursue it? Several of the reviews I've read praised him, and I thought he was very believable.

What accusations? That the mecha is amazing? Because it is AMAZING.

Spoiler:
IT PICKS UP A PIG AND CHUCKS IT, AND THAT IS AMAZING. And then is hit by a car, but I actually appreciated that they were able to take it out that way. It wasn't invincible.

And the actor who played Wikus did an amazing job.

I saw it on Friday, and I was really freaking impressed. I loved how in the beginning it had this "This is really happening" kind of feel with the news reports and such. I didn't know what to expect, since I pretty much got dragged to the movie by my husband. Haha.

For example...

Spoiler:
The whole first part was very documentary-style: interviews, security cams, hand held cams etc. But then they abruptly switched to Christopher and his friend hunting garbage and talking with subtitles. I thought that lacked transition. It was like, "Is this part of the documentary? No, here comes Wikus with his handcam...ok this isn't 'official' footage..."

And then shortly after that they abandon the handcam, since the reporter is gone. I would have liked to see a bit smoother transition.

It wasn't bad enough to cause motion sickness for me or anything, though. Heh.

Isn't there uh another country? Canadia or something

Nah, guy, Canadia got the movie, too.

Maybe his local theatre just doesn't care about getting movies on time.

Pretty bad business descision, if you ask me.

Anywho, the movie was really good.

Peter Jackson doesn't know the meaning of "disappointment".

Except when he hired Jack Black that one time. But hey, nobody's perfect. In the film industry, at least.

Just saw District 9, and I still can't get over how motherfrakking brilliant it is. Best "sci-fi" movie since Children of Men - probably even better, in fact. It's just so... intense. It defies any conventional genre (political sci-fi action mockumentary, but also melodrama, black comedy...), has an unbelievably well-written plot, one of the best film characters of the decade, and Blonkamp's filming skills are up there with the Jacksons, Del Toros and Cuarons of this world when it comes to making you feel like you're taking part in the action. I could go on and on... but really, it'll be extremely difficult for Avatar to top this.
