I saw UP a week ago, but just now found this thread.

The movie is amazing. The first scenes, with Ellie and Carl... Like most people here, I cried. I couldn't help it, even when the last time I cried with a movie was... what, Click's ending? (Fine movie, really sad ending) Anyway.
The combination between Pixar's outstanding animating talent (I saw it in 2D, not many 3D cinemas over here, and most of them have rip-off prices) and the storyline was beautiful, precious. It's incredible how Pixar manages to best themselves almost everytime they make a new movie (Wall-E wasn't that good, but the animation was beautiful), of course, they did it again with UP.

Another touching part was, after Carl gets all mad with Kevin and Dug, when Carl sits in his couch, takes Ellie's "Book of Adventures" (Ellie's pictures inside it made me hold my tears) and, when he's closing it, reads Ellie's message, and it makes him decide to help Kevin/Russel.
That and the ending. With Carl and Russel counting the red and blue cars.

Oh god, I'm about to cry again. I'll stop writing now.

I saw it. I liked it. Best animated film I've seen in a long time.

I actually teared up at the end of the intro montage.

My only problem with it was that it felt too short.

I saw this the first weekend it came out, in 3D. It was pretty good. I cried in the first 10 minutes. I think this is the most dramatic Pixar film yet. The 3D effects though, aren't very prominent. My favorite from Pixar is still The Incredibles, followed by Monsters Inc.

I have a pretty high standard for movies. But Up Exceeded my expectations more then any movie ever. I was expecting a great movie. And I got a Fucking Awesome Movie. Seriously. Up is in my top 5 movies along with Citizen Kane, Godfather Part 1 and 2 and Bowling for Columbine.

Saw this...a while ago, and meant to come back here, but totally forgot about it. Ehehe...*possible spoilers ahead?*

My favorite part was when Carl opens the door and sees Dug sitting outside, after he's lifed the house for the second time. "I was hiding under your porch because I love you, and..." D'AW. I have a soft-spot for dogs, though, and that may be why, BUT.

I was close to crying during the beginning. Now, my sister, who doesn't cry ever during movies, actually shed a few tears in that opening.

Villain-whatshisface creeped me out. Creepy, creepy, scary. That's one heck of a villain for a kids movie, I think.

You know what's sad?
If a guy hid under the porch of a woman they liked and told her that, he'd be arrested.

I've been in the German premiere of the movie today (okay, it was a preview show, but I just couldn't wait until the 17th!). I've been hooked and wanting to see this film all summer and oh boy, it was SO worth the wait! It was really heartwarming and endearing overall, and had its good share of funny moments as well, though not as many as Pixar usually has. The concept reminded me of Wall-E; the first half or so of the film is more touching and calm than anything else, and the funny action scenes come later on. The opening part with Carl and Ellie that didn't use any speech whatsoever and still managed to get me a bit tearyeyed was really well done (it's really hard to make me cry at something fictional, so that means a lot already), but I also enjoyed the fantastic nature scenes and the action sequences with Muntz a lot.
I could overall say that it was on the border of getting tawdry, but it was really an enjoyable movie with a lot of creativity and heartwarming moments. I can't wait to see it in 3D!

Spoiler: Spoiler tag just in case
I was actually really surprised how serious this movie got at times, and especially how suddenly.
Intro montage, Carl and Ellie lead a happy life, everything's cheery and bright-BAM, miscarriage. I was really kind of shocked and thought "Woah ... ? Really?"
It was the same when Muntz set Carl's house on fire - They were engaging him, Kevin was taken away, Muntz comes down, some kind of fight seems to be approaching-BAM, house on fire. That shocked me too and took me some time to realize that this was really happening.
It was incredible how good this movie was with taking its audience seriously and using adult themes but still managed to be entertaining and funny. Chapeau, Pixar. I was truly moved.

OMG I loved this movie. To me it wasn't as good as WALL-E but it's second in Pixar movies for me!

My first impression was that since this movie did not seem to have any odd theme, (Toys, bugs, monsters, superheroes, fish, cars, rats, and robots)it would be very boring but I guess Pixar can make a kid and an old man into better heroes than bugs, cars, and SUPERHEROS...

Someone told me that this is the FIRST animated ANYTHING where an Asian person is ACTUALLY voiced by someone who is Asian.....being Asian myself, this is a big leap of pride.... :redd:

Like everyone else I also cried in the beginning...I think that was the second time I ever cried for a movie (the first being Armageddon...)

As for the dogs, what can I say? Having just bought a dog before I saw this movie I found the ones in this movie hilarious. :moe-laugh:

Cars....well that movie just made me go WTF. First of all, how are there cars with genders? How do they make babies? :beef: And how do they build the roads and signs? How do the cars even build gas stations or replacement parts?!?

The only Pixar's film that I really enjoyed was The Incredibles :will: (maybe because I love super-heroes, but I'm a bit scarried about the fact that Disney bought Marvel...maybe Iron Man will join in the next Kingdom Hearts lol), I liked Finding Nemo (but not so much, the only fish's story in computer graphic that I really liked was DreamWorks's Shark Tail lol), the two Toy Story were funny (but I don't think I'll see the third), but I didn't liked Cars and Wall-E! :beef:

After I see this film's trailer, I'm pretty sure that I will see this! :gant:

And another thing, how do they give birth?

You're right, but even though it's a cartoon, it still gets you wondering... I never even understood the plot mostly because I was too busy contemplating these questions....

It's important that you say leading member, because there was an asian actress in Cars.

So yeah, kinda lost its significance.

The movie UP was very touching. One of the most touching animated films in my short (I'm only 11) life. I don't exactly burst into tears in public, but inside, I was really shedding my tears.

And about the Asian conflict: What's the fuss about being Asian? My favorite singer, Leah Salonga is very proudly Asian and a Filipina at that, yet she speaks very well in English. So please. I'm offended.

((Sorry, just a wee bit irritated, being Class Pres., Secretary of the Student Council, and Treasurer of the Special Science Program...:D))

The fuss is he said, incorrectly, that it was the first animation with an asian character voiced by an asian person. Then he was duly corrected.
But enough of that mess.

Yes this is my second favorite Pixar film (after Incredibles), and I must say, I loved the musical score, loved the characters, very original, and just overall a great heartwarming movie.

Ok how about this theory.

Cars takes place in a post-apocolalytic world. Very few humans have survived. Those that did were lonely but highly intelligent. They built all of the "Cars", and them and their offspring continue to. They are never seen on screen because they are reveered as gods.

Yeah crack theory...

Wow.

The only thing lower on the Heirarchy of robots is an alarm clock.

Anyway back on topic.

Pixar has made 10 full length movies so far. In the future they have Toy Story 3 and Cars 2, which one is more likely to be thier first dud (As sequels are sometimes undewhelming, especially the third in a series.)

I agree. They even had a part in The Incredibles about "affairs" and showed violence during almost half of the movie.
