I knew about Phoenix Wright through the internet, objection is a meme after all, and I put off buying it because I like to be different. In fact, the first AA game I ever played was a demo of Apollo Justice.

My friend was badly humming the cross-examination theme so I asked him to stop and he said he was singing music from Phoenix Wright. I asked him what that was and he said it's this DS game where you play as a lawyer. I thought it would be idiotic and boring but I decided to have a preview of it by looking up Youtube Playthroughs of the first game. What really hooked me in was Mia and then as the dialouge got funnier I ended up watching the entire first game on Youtube. Psyched, I set out to get and play the rest of the Phoenix Wright games and here I am now.

I saw some screenshots from trials and tribulations in gameinformer magazine and thought it looked cool so I got it for Christmas and I was hooked on it

I remembered reading about it in Nintendo Power in 2005, but I didn't have enough money to buy a DS, so it wasn't the uppermost thing on my mind. In the summer of last year, I finally decided to get a DS. I remembered Phoenix Wright and decided to do some research on it (mainly on Wikipedia.) I've been a semi-hardcore gamer for a long time, and as such, I'm always looking for innovative/creative video games. I like trying out new and unusual things. PW looked like a type of game I had never played before, so I asked for it last Christmas. I played the first case on Christmas day and was hooked. When I first decided to try the game out, I had absolutely no idea that I would love it so much. Now I'm absolutely obsessed :edgy:

Well, I dreamt about cross-examining sahwit then got deja vu when i actually played it. See, Im destined.
Yes, that actually happened as well but this is how i really got into it.
I was at a friends house and from the other room I heard her sister say "Im getting the new Phoenix Wright Game tomorrow" to her mum.
Like 6 months later, I got one of those chips for the ds that you can dowload games on for christmas and then in Feburary I was looking for games and two words randomly popped into my head "Phoenix Wright" so i typed it up, found the whole series and got them all. Hence, I fell in love :bellboy:
See, I am destined.

I remember seeing Phoenix Wright a lot on the internet before, finger-pointing and Objection-ing and all that. I wondered what all that buzz was about so I did my research and found out it was from a game for the DS. So then I was like, cool, then brushed it off, mostly because I didn't own a DS and had no intention of getting one.

Some time after that though I discovered Cooking Mama through a friend. It amused me so much that I scoured the internet for an emulator for the DS (I was broke, stfu) and eventually found one. So I played Cooking Mama but eventually got tired of it and started looking for other DS games that I could download. Then I remembered Phoenix Wright and thought I'd give it a shot. I fell oh so deep in love~ Breezed through all four games in three weeks or so.

So now here I am. Phoenix Wright has become one of my biggest fandoms. I have an actual DS now and I'm looking into getting originals of all four games even though I've already beaten all of them. So far I've only gotten AJ, but the rest are soon to follow. <3

I quite seriously had no idea about the games, or the huge fandom, the Kink Meme, all the fanfiction, the cosplayers, or ANY of it.

Basically...? My Mum bought herself a DS. My kids got hooked on it and it was spending more time at our house than it was at Mum's. So, come Christmas, their Dad gets a "family DS" that we're all to share. And that's when I started looking at the secondhand DS games...

I wasn't really into anime at that stage, though the PW games always looked interesting-- problem-solving and legal drama appealed, not to mention... it just looked so fucking adorable. But the prices they were asking for them, and the fact that there were other things I wanted (or I'd get distracted and buy games for the Wii or the XBox360) got in the way of me acquiring PW. Then one day, I was in one shop, and saw ALL FOUR GAMES. I remember thinking, "But then I'll want to buy ALL of them, and I can't afford it." So, no games.

I can't remember WHEN exactly it was, but money was tight around the house and my partner was paying me out about spending money on things, and we were in EB Games, and I saw the first game there. And finally, I cracked, and just went, "Fuckit, I've been looking at the Phoenix Wright games for months now, I'm buying this one at least."

The best bit was my pissed-off partner going, "Just because you want your slashy gay subtext lawyers..." I remember laughing and going, "D00d, just because it's anime-based, doesn't mean it's yaoi. I don't think there's any gay subtext." The guy at the counter looked at us like we were freaks. (I suspect he had no idea about the term BGL. ;) )

I remember going home in the car and reading the little instruction book and going, "Hey! I'll slash this prosecutor guy with Phoenix! Hatesex FTW!" I still had absolutely no idea.

Played the game that night and thought it was cute, put it down for about a week, and then got into and just couldn't put it down. By 1-4 I was on the web looking for slashfic about Miles and Phoenix. I can't even remember how I found out about the Kink Meme and C-R, but I did, and lurked for awhile.

...Now? I've cosplayed two AA characters, written a crapload of fic, my mobile phone has Phoenix Wright fanart, phone charms and ring and message tones, and I've managed to track down and play the rest of the series. From what I gather, the first game's really hard to find now, and the third wasn't even released in Australia so that I've gotten and played them all? Makes me feel incredibly lucky.

It was about a few months ago actually XD Somebody I subscribe to on YouTube talked about it in one of his videos, and he raved about how good it was, so I decided to check it out. It looked boring at first, but when I started to play more I was hooked! I was so into it that I beat all 4 games in a month XD And then I played through them again. Now I'm a big fan, even though it's only been about 6 months or so.

I was skimming through the games on the ds download service on my wii, then i saw Apollo Justice, I was really bored so I tried it out, the cliffhanger in the demo caused me to buy the game, and I was hooked

It was three years ago. I learned about it by looking at the signature of a moderator from another forum, but I still had no real idea what it was. Then it turned out Al was already playing the series and I asked him what it was. He just said it was "made of awesome and win and lots of blood and boobies". ... I saved up enough money to buy a DS and the game itself a couple of months later. So yeah.

I got into AA about a year and a half ago. I saw it on gamespot under similar games to the one I was looking up, and I thought "Hey, that sounds interesting". I played JFA first, but I didn't really get it. Then I went to Armageddon, which is sort of like Comic-Con, for those of you who don't live in NZ. I was looking through Arkillian's artwork at the DeviantArt stall, and I recognised some of the AA characters in her artwork, and we got talking about it. She convinced me to play them again, so I did, playing them in order really helped. After that, I got the rest of my friends to play. And now we're all obsessed.

Well, my story is that I got an EDGE flash card for Christmas '08, and Apollo Justice was one of the pre-downloaded games in the chip. I was actually more interested in Trauma Center back then 'cause I really want to be a surgeon/veterinarian, then I tried it out, but I didn't exactly get the game, then I came across PW:AA in a site where I downloaded my games, so I downloaded the first game, and it was sooooooo fun, so I definetely got the others. BTW I actually deleted AJ:AA before downloading PW:AA. :payne:
I've been away for far too long.
So long, in fact, that all of my signatures now exist behind a paywall.
Bummer.

I'l admit that I'm a trifle jealous. Not only did you get to meet Arkillian and see her art in the flesh, at Armageddon in Melbourne, I saw absolutely NOTHING Ace Attorney (except me). And we didn't have DeviantArt stalls, either. :(

Also, that you got your friends into it? Is brilliant. I'm the only gamer in my group of friends. :(

i'd had my DS for ages and had heard about the AA games but had never really paid attention to them. besides, my mum thought it was a stupid concept (playing as a lawyer? how is that fun?) and so refused to buy any of them for me whenever i saw them in a game shop. xD but one day i was wandering around Game with my brothers and saw Apollo Justice, and thought, why not, and then played it and instantly fell in love.
i was a bit of an idiot to play the 4th game before any of the others but whatever. xD

I saw her again this year as well. And will next year if she comes to Welly from Auckland.

Only one of my friends is just as obsessed as I am though. I have a few friends who like the games, but are more into other stuff, like one like Kingdom Hearts more, and another likes Pokemon more.

*is totally jealous as well* I want to meet Arki. ^_^;; Maybe I should finally fly my butt over to Australia and meet up with my distant relatives there. Then I could hop over to NZ. XD

Anyway, I got into PW a while ago. I didn't get into the fandom right away, but I remember buying the first PW game when it came out. But, I didn't play it for the longest time. I dunno, I kept putting it off. The only reason why I bought it in the first place was because a friend online urged me to, saying that it was "going to be rare" and I needed to get it right away. I probably didn't play it for about a year, haha. Finally, my husband was like, "either play that game or I'm going to sell it." So, I opened it up and started playing it... and totally got addicted. ;D

I breezed through the first game, and I was dying for more. By that time, JFA had already been out, and T&T had just been released. I found them both at Best Buy, snagged them, and then continued to play them almost desperately I think. XD Once I finished the third game (and officially shipped P/E hardcore) I started searching for fics and pics of Phoenix and Edgeworth. Which led me to LiveJournal, the kink meme, y!Gallery and all that good stuff. XD
Thanks to .•°٭blinq٭°•. for the lovely sig. ♥

Saw it in a store and heard of it before.

I had a bad week, so my mum said I could buy any game I wanted. I picked Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorny Justice For All and I was instantly hooked. A couple months later I got T&T and bough AJ later on. I only got the PW:AA rom.

My sister got me into it, actually. We have a tradition where we got the Gamestop in the mall after we go to the movies. So we went in one day and started looking at the used games shelf. What do we see but about 4 copies of PW:AA. She bought it, played it, and the begged me to play it. I must admit, I was skeptical at first. Then I played it, however, and it was love at first sight. *Sighs dreamily* Good times, good times.

Has anyone seen the Flash movie The Real Legend of Zelda 3? If you did, I think you know where I'm going. In the scene where Link fights Volvagia, the Cornered theme plays. I actually already knew the song from one of ThumbsUpMaster's videos, but the Cadenza version made me addicted. I wanted to know where it was from, and I heard it was from Phoenix Wright. I already knew about the game, I knew what it looked like and that the characters would shout Objection! all the time. I got interested and wondered how a lawyer game would work. So I looked up the first case on YouTube. I thought it was really great, I even found contradictions while watching the video even though I didn't see the court record.

Days after that, I watched the second case too, because I was so bored. Then I thought, "That's it." and ordered all three games for over 100€ on Amazon. I played the trilogy, loved it (I played 1-4 all day, and right after playing, at 2 a.m. in the morning, I asked someone if there was any case that was better than 1-4. He said yes, and I found that hard to believe.) and ordered Apollo Justice. I was a bit sad about Hobohodo, but I thought he was really cool. So here I am, big Ace Attorney fan, talking or thinking about it every day.

It wasn't so interesting for me doiacovering the series. I was bored one day because I'd completed or got bored of all the DS games I have, so I was looking up 'Popular DS games' on Google and PW:AA came up. Needless to say, I've not had the urge to get a new ds game since buying the series. ^^

I'd known of it on the internet very vaguely, but my friend at uni was always going on about it, and I saw her drawing a picture of Godot. So I asked if I could have a go (at painting it for practice). She agreed and she sent me the reference of the artwork of Godot, and I fell in love with the style.
But, the game didn't strike me as anything amazing and must-play at first, but she eventually brought Ace Attorney in for me to play, and I remember playing it during my break, and within the first ten or so minutes I was completeley hooked.
I couldn't stop playing it, and it was really frustrating because of the sheer lack of copies! I scoured the shops and eventually, about August, found JfA and played it like my life depended on it haha.
I finally found a copy of Trials and Tribulations and I snatched it up so fast it blurred.
Now I'm trying my hardest to find Apollo Justice...but gah it's so annoying!
Rest assured I'm preordering AAI this time around...haha.
So, it was all down to the perseverance of a friend at uni, or else I wouldn't have played it at all 8D

My kid brother and I were aware that there was some kind of goofy lawyer game out there where you got to object to things, and we joked about the concept without really knowing what the big deal was. I found JFA at a used game store for way cheap and bought it for him as a novelty birthday present, thinking we'd all have a good laugh at the video game with lawyers. I promptly forgot about it.

He called me a month or so later to tell me, "Holy crap. You've GOT to play this. You're going to love it. I need someone to talk to about it." I played it, immediately had to track down the other three, and the rest is history. Now my poor kid brother can't get me to shut up about that goofy lawyer game.

I'm not gonna deny it -- I'm a lurker of the chans, you see, and while I had been aware of the game simply because of the objection memes all over the place, I never really felt the need to play it... I mean srsly come on, a video game about /lawyers/? Didn't sound very fun to me, not at all. XD

So then I'm on /cm/ one day, looking for original art to use for a roleplay on Gaia, and I stumble upon a Godot thread. I IMMEDIATELY fell in love. I was so interested in his character design that I didn't even want to wait for my chance to actually /play/ the game -- I went and youtubed that shit. XD

It took me like, a whole week to watch the whole game on youtube, and it was so great that I immediately went and got all of the games and played through all of them throughout the following weeks. XD

          And I am so thankful that I did so~ ; w;

let me see.. it was by accident actually..
my sister and i both had a ds, and my sister had got some new games for on her r4 card, which i didn't have. anyways, apollo justice appeared to be on the r4. whe live in holland, and my sister was 11 then, so she tought it was pretty boring 'because they only talked and it's boring' she said, well, she didn't now what the words meant anyway. so, i asked if i could try the game, so i did. and i liked it.
so, that's also why i first played apollo justice. after that i played T&T because, i couldn't find the others, and then the first one, and last, the second game of pw.

Oh, stories!

I was looking for a game to take with me on a trip to Japan ('t was May 2009), and I saw PW2 in a store for 10€, so I bought it - a friend had said they were good games and it was cheap, so why not?. I started playing the same day and finished the first case, and I somehow started the second case only when we had arrived back in Paris (totally tired and jetlagged because I can't sleep in an airplane)... bad idea, so I only finished the game much later. But I loved it <3<3<3

(also, before that me and my bf had tried the Apollo Justice demo and failed hard - so I wasn't sure it was my kind of game XD)

My mum bought Justice For All and played it herself, so it was in the house. Then I ran out of DS games, so I decided to play my sister's Harry Potter one, but JFA was the game in the HP case. I'd nothing better to do, so I decided to play JFA. And then fell in love with Edgeworth the game. :bellboy:

Kinlyu: How did you manage to get a DS game for ten euros? I've never seen a DS game that cheap in my life.

Heard of it from the internet. I wondered why those objections were so famous. And then this guy named Rust from thespeedgamers.com showed his Trials and Tribulations box so I was like interested and stuff.

I had heard of it before... yet I never paid any attention to the game.

It was only till my brother was playing "Phoenix Wright: Justice For All" was when I got hooked to the series. I at first said to him "why on earth would you buy that crappy game?". It was only late at night when my brother taught me how to play it when my whole opinion on it changed and I bought the first, third, fourth series of the game and got addicted to it <3

That's nothing, my most recent buy for the DS (a crappy RPG called Contact) was AU$12 which I believe is even less. How did I get it that cheap? 3 words: Post Christmas Sale. :edgy:

Cheapest I've ever seen a DS game was twenty four euros, and it was a second hand version of a game that sold very badly and had been out for ages. :lana:
