Played the game for a bit and it seems everyone's so unwilling to address "That Lawyer" as "Phoenix Wright". First Edgeworth, then Gumshoe, and now Franny, seriously why couldn't they all just let the characters address Phoenix properly? I mean they all know him really well.....

The games are always written so that you understand them if you don't know the other entries in the series, so every character gets introduced when you first meet him. I guess they're avoiding using his name (yet?) so they don't have to introduce him (at that point?).

They do that all the time -- Edgeworth is "that man" or "that prosecutor" a bunch in GS1-3 even when it's really obvious. I'm not sure if it's a characterization decision or a localization quirk.
