Thanks you guys :) I try to draw off a reference every now and then so I can work out how the face works and remind myself every now and then.

It's funny though who I used for the reference cause you TOTALLY wouldn't guess it!

Spoiler: Who the reference was of- Look if you don't mind being SCORN
'Eminem', or Marshall Mathers. WTF, eh? Using a rapper as a reference for a over zealous, uptight prosecutor? Lol

I KNOW RIGHT? When I was thinking of references of what face shape I thought that Miles looked like, I came down to him and Nicholas Cage. Cage was a bit too old for Miles, so I went for this ref. I was loling the WHOLE time. Imagine him raping in a cravat XD I was rfol laughing at the end product- seriously

And that drawing is great, I just totally adore how you can pull a realistic style of. And that fact that it's based of ... of ... that person you based it off totally amuses me. XD Inspiration and reference seems to like coming from the weirdest places!

Yeah XD It's weird- I have BIG issues remembering names and faces, but I can easily isolate shapes and forms in art >.> To me, I don't look at the reference as a person, I see them as planes and shapes. It's irritating sometimes. I got confused this weekend. I was on a beach, and one of the guys in the group totally covered himself in a beach towel, and I was like "Where is he?" I didn't realise he was hiding from the sun, and totally disregarded the shape... I guess I thought he was a towel crumpled up on the beach. He nearly gave me a heart attack when he popped out :beef: Beign too artisitcally inclined can be a bad thing. I'm such a dreamer >.>

Oh gee *g* I can relate. A pal once showed me a picture of her boyfriend and my first reaction was all like "His face shape would be really interesting to draw". Thankfully, she did not misinterpret that and was pleased, but I must have come off really dorky. XD
Sometimes, random things just get my attention artistically and I'm totally distracted. It can be really annoying at times.

Go for it :) It's really good for improving you're feel for how the head is shaped :) I need to do it every now and then so I don't look too cartoony, cause that's where my style starts faltering. It'll be interesting to see who you do ^^

New picture added!

Spoiler: Steampunk Godot WIP
Image

Well, hopefully I didn't go over board with this- it's my first steam punk image. I tried to be a bit imaginative with it though:-

Goggles- Godot has that visor to correct his vision. I assume that the glass of the visor is a special mix glass- like these goggles would be, and I assume that they work similar to neon lights where electricity is passed through a neon gas which glows. These goggles work on the same principal, except there is gas pumped into an igniter on the goggles that sends a spark every now and then in to activate the neon. Every now and then, the vents at the top will disperse of the unused gas so there isn't pressure build up.

Umbrella
- Cause there's this pic where he's carrying one for Mia and it's so adorable. I bet he'd carry one around the place to remind him of her or something ^^

Mecha hand- You SEEN how that man slams his fist / fist holding coffee cup onto the desk in court?! THAT MAN MUST HAVE BIONIC HANDS. It'd hurt like hell. Or maybe it's mecha and it doesn't hurt at all ;)

I punked up his hair a little more than usual too.

Comments appreciated- specially ones that can give me help on the Steampunk genre as I am still new to it :)

It wasn't too bad... I think I should've researched mechanics a bit more though with it. IT looks complex, but I don't think it could actually WORK XD That comes with practise though ^^

Thanks ^^ Steampunk seems to be one of those genres you either love, or you step back look at it and think 'Detailed' and leave it at that I think. It's not everyone's cup of tea. I like the details they use. The world its self is less fascinating to me. I think the fashion is cool though. I prefer magic for a fantasy universe to steam driven :) It was something VERY different for me to try out though ^^ I don't think it's been done before either >.>

Thanks :) IT's taken alot of practice over the years, and the recent life drawing classes I went to have helped me get a better feel for 3D. I may not ALWAYS hit angles, but it's getting easier and difficult angles I've tried before are less difficult now

Spoiler: Image of non PWness
Image

The top panel image above is a pose that I use to get wrong ALL the time. In that image, I hit it first time and got it right. I donno whether I was in the zone or if it was the classes, but something happened in late 2009 to get my foreshortening right. I think it was life drawing. I sure as heck wasn't drawing much BEFORE that >.>

Whoa, nice linearts too! I think steampunk is really cool, but it's also difficult... it relies so much on (mechanical) details D: Good work so far! Practice is the best way to learn...which is why I keep failing XD

I'm starting to colour it in art rage. Art rage is SO different from photoshop to use, but I think it feels nicer despite this. The colours mix to HECK, but they way they do it makes sense so I donno. We'll see how it goes :)

It's a painting program which mimics traditional drawing methods SO well, that they almost double as the actual method itself. Colours work properly, paint stroke WORK like paint strokes, and it works like how it should. I's all about textures and mixing.

Their website is here

It's cheap to buy, and it's owned by New Zealanders apparently (I found this out AFTER I got a copy), and after getting use to how differently it treats colour to photoshop, I realised I got use to it faster cause it makes sense. Red + Blue = purple. Simple. No Blue or semi transparent blue, but PURPLE.

FINALLY I can practise all these painting techniques I'm learning ^^

Um... it has a trace on it so the colours are actually darker than this, but it's pretty much it so far. I fight, it retaliates. It's a love hate relationship atm...

I'm so oldschool XD

Artrage 3 is a bazillion times easier to use than 2.5. Did you get teh trial version or full? The trial only lets you use 1 layer and 2 brushes- that sucks :(

Thanks you guys :) It's my second yuri pic- still a little weird drawing them >.>
