I've started to study German lately, too. The book I downloaded from internet is quite well written, so I proceed with languadge very well.
Eh. I should re-play gothic 2. That's quite the german teacher, especially in magic, weapons and religion terms. (Armbrust, Schwert, Bogen, Drachen, Stein Tafel, Feuer and things like theese =))

I rather keep it on Dutch, we don't have such things as umlouds, and we have easier grammar :kyouya:
Well, that's my opinion anyway.

I want to learn Dutch now, too XD
But I have a good reason for this! Some of my relatives live in the Netherlands - moved there - and I visited Den Haag last March and it was amazing. For weeks, after visiting, I wanted to move there too.

Den Haag? i guess i've been there sometime.. But i live somewhere different.
Where do you live?
I'm glad almost everyone i know lives here :kyouya:
I don't feel like moving anywhere, I love the food here, they don't 'hagelslag' or 'frinkandel' somewhere else, and i love it :minuki:
And the language would be a problem, and i would miss everyone, so i'm just staying here :maya:

I live in Canada. It's pretty different.
But I didn't get to eat hagelslag or frinkandel, only burek, which is not a Dutch food at all.

Why do you say that language would be a problem?

Hagelslag is something to put on your bread, and i spelled frikandel wrong heh.

because i'm not so good at learning different languages. Yeah, i can speak English, but sometimes i have to think long to get some right grammar, and well.. i really can't speak other languages. At school, they learn you some words you never use anyway and then what? You know some words, but how can you make correct senteces with those words?

It's called "Alles Klar". I'm not sure if it fits you, because it's written in Russian, not counting the vocabularies, excersises and other necessary stuff. So, if you want to study German with this book, you'll need to study Russian first :gant:

When did you start learning English?

Eh, a couple of years ago. It started with house and tree and that kind of words.
The thing that really made me learn English was playing English games and go chat with people all around the world.
My English teacher this year can't even speak English herself. She's russian, she happens to be a known ballet dancer back there. The class is always teasing her.. :yuusaku:
so i don't learn a lot new things with her..
The class kept saying the didn't understand the gerund, but everyone did, and the teacher just explained it over and over again.
I'm almost sure i'm better at English than most others in my class because i speak it alot.

The fact that you've started learning English a few years ago but are so good at it already is proof enough that you are good at languages! I mean, I started learning French 6 years ago, but there is no way on Earth I could write French at the same level as you do English.

I think that's because English is quite an easy language. :yuusaku:
French is harder, go away, imparfait. In English, you just have to put an "s" after he/she/it verbs, but in French you have to conjugate every verb, depending on the pronoun.

Oh, and I hate French numbers (quatre-vingt-dix-neuf, wtf?).

But you're Spanish and that's pretty similar to French, isn't it? Because I always thought that way and I'm going to learn Spanish next year... or isn't that the case?
I tried to learn it in 2008... and it really seemed familiar, especially the verbs and how you conjugate them.

Besides, The pronunciation is... oh my god XD! I can't cope with that!

Err... Indonesian is my first language. When I was in the elementary school I learned Arabic and quite mastered it, but after I graduated and never practice it again I forget all I've learned.

I know English since I was in elementary school, but I was terrible back in the past :yuusaku: well, I learned it (a bit) seriously in the fourth grade.

It's also because i'm really trying to speak and write English. I look thing up if i don't know.
And yes, French is hard. But German is very hard for me also, and Dutch and German are very similar.
I can mostly read everything in German. Well, the important things. But i can't write or speak it.

I can speak Spanish, though not as well as I used to.

Back a few years ago, I used to go see family in San Antonio alot, and they mostly spoke Spanish, and then I was quite fluent. Since the death of my grandma, however, we haven't gone up there as much, and so I didn't speak it as often, and the knowledge has faded a bit over the years....

Yes, it is, the problem is that all these languages that come from Latin have a very complex grammar, so it's hard to memorize everything if it's not your native language... Differently, the English language has an easier grammar, but the pronounciation is, indeed, a HUGE problem for us XD

I find the fact that you don't really use pronouns confusing and the pronunciation is a little difficult, but I'm starting to get the hang of it now<3 I know what you mean about English pronunciation being hard- my Italian exchange student spoke very good English, but on certain words, she'd try to pronounce them as they would sound in Italian and it wouldn't be quite right e.g. relatives was always rel-AH-ti-vees. But of course, I didn't have the heart to correct her :edgy:

But you should give it a try. You will learn lots of new vocabulary and your own grammar will improve too. Since I started playing PW in English, I learned many new words... prosecutor, to strangle, penalty, contradiction, circumstances, even objection xD etc.

Well yeah xD I noticed that every foreign person I've talked with in Italian had trouble with the pronouns xD we usually use them when we need to put more enphasis on something, but that's all :gant: anyway a mistake that almost everyone makes here, is saying "d", "v", or "f" instead of "th", and it's kinda funny...and once I heard someone saying "doh" instead of though :yuusaku:
