Just for the record, I'm Korean myself. I don't really have an eye for Korean girls because their personalities are usually a turn-off for me. One of my better friends at college... the only reason I met her was because I sat down to eat lunch with her in an overcrowded cafeteria (she was sitting completely alone, which was astounding, considering that the rest of the cafeteria was jam-packed full of people) and started talking. Pretty random. But it happened, and I made a new friend.
Naturally, I don't go around talking to girls and looking for romance; I do have a girlfriend. But having the confidence, skill, or whatever else you think is involved to just up and start talking to someone--anyone--I feel better about myself now than I did in my shyer days, and I think it can be helpful in life.

I don't know if I was ever socially awkward. I was definitely more of an introvert though. See, I don't remember ever scaring off a date, but what I do remember are too many missed opportunities; that is, girls who I very well could have dated, looking back, but did not have the confidence or other pertinent qualities required to ask them out. It took me a long time to realize that any pain felt in rejection is dwarfed by never having asked the girl out in the first place and then sitting and wondering about what could have been. Those thoughts are downright tormenting.
Granted, I'm happy with my current girlfriend, and she was the first girl I seriously pursued with my then-newfound knowledge and outgoing disposition; I'm just talking. I'm glad I'm not so much of an introvert anymore, and romantic pursuits aren't my only reason to be thankul for that.

I was also introverted, still am a bit but more outgoing, but apparently I ooze confidence (yay?) which attracts guys oddly. Sad thing is I'm very uncomfortable in relationships (I lose all my confidence and become very awkward and shy). Luckily my boyfriend at the moment understands that so we get along well!
Encounters? I've had repeatedly bad encounters with one guy who had a crush on me and now has a recurring crush on my friend (who turned him down once already). I've explained to him nicely that it will not ever happen (nicely!) and he still continues to go after her o_o He even tried to make me swear not to tell her for some reason even though he wants to go out with her...needless to say, VERY irritating! I've become the middle man in this as he uses me to whine to and ask for advice (to which I say it will not happen and such) and she tells me to tell him it wont happen, which I do alot.
I mean, infatuations happen, crushes happen, but you don't stick to one person when they've turned you down, that's just foolish and a waste of time. You admit defeat and move on.

I guess I could see how an introverted girl could ooze confidence. Though it does depend on how you define introvert. I was using it to mean quiet or shy. If you use it to mean something like "occupied with one's own thoughts and feelings before the outside environment" then an introvert might not actually be shy but rather might come off as someone really in control (though quiet) in a cool and calculating way. Which suggests some confidence. Or maybe you just feel shy but you put on a different facade that even you aren't aware of--a confident one, at that?
As for infatuations, I wish my friend had the same ideology as you--or better yet that he had the balls to approach girls he's interested in in the first place instead of just thinking about them all the time and not doing anything. Being shy and being prone to infatuation each aren't so great on their own as they are, but he's both =/

Ah I define an introvert as losing energy around people so needing time alone to recharge, it normally coincides with shyness but I'm not shy anymore. I can see what you mean and usually I am in control of alot of things, so maybe that's it? I haven't experienced any other introverts who seem the same though.

Story of my relationship with one of my best friends for the past year :P At least his affections have appeared to have moved on to a different girl who he talks about less. He still talks about the first girl for some reason, and I can't see why. I think it's because she's "the only girl who talked about [him] without [him] having to talk to her much," which makes him sound awfully lazy and indifferent when it comes to pursuing girls, if you ask me. Hah.
I do lose energy around people if I'm around a lot of people for an extended period of time, but I kind of expect that. Since I get more excited and whatnot, I'd expect to lose more energy than I do just being home anyway.
That said, I love being home too. Awesome food, clean bathroom, I got my family here, I can meet my friends if I want to (or have the whole lot just come over). And staying in is plenty fine. There's always either a (sports) game to watch, a movie, a game to play online with my friends... even when I'm with my girlfriend staying in is something we both enjoy. Just holding each other on the couch cuddling and watching a movie. It's something I miss loads when I'm away at school--simple things like that.

Story of my relationship with one of my best friends for the past year :P At least his affections have appeared to have moved on to a different girl who he talks about less. He still talks about the first girl for some reason, and I can't see why. I think it's because she's "the only girl who talked about [him] without [him] having to talk to her much," which makes him sound awfully lazy and indifferent when it comes to pursuing girls, if you ask me. Hah.
I do lose energy around people if I'm around a lot of people for an extended period of time, but I kind of expect that. Since I get more excited and whatnot, I'd expect to lose more energy than I do just being home anyway.
That said, I love being home too. Awesome food, clean bathroom, I got my family here, I can meet my friends if I want to (or have the whole lot just come over). And staying in is plenty fine. There's always either a (sports) game to watch, a movie, a game to play online with my friends... even when I'm with my girlfriend staying in is something we both enjoy. Just holding each other on the couch cuddling and watching a movie. It's something I miss loads when I'm away at school--simple things like that.

It is quite lazy, but I guess you get what you deserve in the end. If you put in the effort you normally get a reward, if you don't nothing usually happens!
Extroverts gain energy from being around people and lose energy from being alone. So I would guess you were introverted. You can still be outgoing and confident and be introverted, it's to do with preference rather than behaviour! (I'm an outgoing introvert, I can act like an extrovert but need time to recharge).
Home is good, little sanctuary where decisions are possible and nothing HAS to happen. I don't usually see my boyfriend at home however, he's an extrovert and so needs human interaction (usually in the form of parties, which I usually don't go to what with school work). Your relationship sounds like a good one!
Encounters:
Went out in the snow with my friends, boyfriend and his friend said they would be there for 1pm. Phoned at 1 to say they would be about an hour late. We waited, messed around in the snow, built a snow fort. Time passed and we called them up, they were still ages away. We waited, they didn't turn up. We were leaving as they turned up having walked for 3 hours rather than just staying home and being sensible and both couldn't understand why we wanted to go home after freezing outside for 3 hours ourselves and being soaked through. My boyfriend's friend seemed annoyed at him as I think everyone else was (except me, which is unusual, I usually hate people letting others down).
So ended with them being annoyed and us girls leaving to go home.
After reading this again I'm unsure if this is really an encounter...

I ... have a crush on my best friend. Have had for about a year and a half now. I just don't want to tell him, in case we go out then break up or something and our friendship is ruined. And he's had about three girlfriends in the past year. One of them twice. And one of my "friends" has said she's going to tell him that I like him, but I'm afraid - even though I don't want him to know - that doing that would make him think that I was showing cowardice, and he might say no. ;_;

Unless he's a conceited narcissist (most of us guys aren't, just so you know :P), he's not going to look down on you for being afraid to show your feelings. Don't torture yourself with whether or not someone likes you back or not. For guys, they're usually pretty open minded, not particularly picky.

When I asked him out he said no, but we're still good mates.
This guy is a total sweetheart in my eyes, but to my other mates, he's a complete weirdo. They were like saying he did some dirty things and I'm like... No not him. He wouldn't hurt a fly.
