No really, have I missed the thread for this anime or am I crazy? This anime is epic and whoever hasn't seen it immediately needs to!

Crazy fandom aside, this anime features 4 high school girls who revive a dying light music club and play songs together. The girls perform at a freshman reception and a 5th girl is inspired by their performance to join. Tons of great songs have been released in this anime's name, and there's even going to be a second season starting February 24th!

[EDIT] Damn it, I was sure I posted this in the Global Studios forum, I was on that page, honest! Apologies, but if a mod or admin can move this for me, it'd be much appreciated.

You mean "K-On!"? I thought I saw a thread for that once... Though maybe that was at another forum.

Well, I used the forum's Search function which should search CRF in its entirety. If that didn't find any results then I don't think another thread exists.

That's exactly what I did as well. I searched for both Keion (Romanized), and K-On (Localized) and found nothing.

But it's such an awesome show:O

And also, I'm surprised this hasn't been moved yet:P

I'm laughing to myself Paper as the mods still have not moved this. Whenever I have responded to stuff like this, I always put something about Ceres moving/locking a thread so lets see if it works again

*Predicts Ceres will move thread to Global Studios*

EDIT: Blast, no witty comment from Ceres. I have a feeling it was Nose who moved this...

.......

Keion sounds pretty good. I'll have to watch it some time then.

Yeah, it's about time this was moved. Every time I saw it, I had a good laugh too.

Anyways, Keion, or K-On as foreigners know it, had seriously inspired tons of bands to start, and increased the sales of Gibson Les Paul guitars, Fender Precision Bass guitars, and many other little trinkets that were featured in the show. I really like the show itself, but I don't really know why it's THAT popular. Alas, it has earned a spot in my top 10 anime shows.

[EDIT] I don't know who moved this thread, but thanks. It was funny how it wasn't moved for a while, but it was also starting to get to me!

I watched this with my friend! It was really cute, and the music is addicting as well. I love the opening and endings.

I know right? So good. If you didn't know already, there's a few more good things about K-on that been happening recently:

- Season 2 has been announced for February 24, 2010.
- A 14th Episode was released as an OVA today, see it on Youtube!
- There are about 8-10 albums of K-On specific songs, including the ones from the show.

For the record, "K-On!" is another way of writing the title in Japan, and it's not just a "localized" title.

Anyway, I hate this show. I really do. Moe nonsense and riped with cliches..

But I can't stop watching it for some reason...

Lord Johnny, you sound like one of my friends who watches this stupid show. He even says he's going to watch season 2 though I don't understand why. He's proclaiming himself a masochist.
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

The best thing for me to have done is not watch this show at all....and yeah, I feel like I have to watch Season 2 just for a possible sense of closure. It's not so much "masochism" for me as it is "dumb curiosity".

Well, if there is one thing I have to give the series credit for, is that the characters are enjoyable in some fashion. That, and like everybody else, I think the end theme is catchy.

........that, and it also reminds me a lot of last year's school festival at my college, which brings back fond memories. D:

I enjoyed the first half of K-On! but the second half is almost the exact same thing except with Azusa copy/pasted into the story. Not going to bother with the second season.

Yeah, the only part I really enjoyed was the personalities of the characters, and the music.

I don't know why it's hyped up so much, I've seen much better shows, like Fullmetal Alchemist and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann for instance.

Anyways, I enjoyed it enough to watch Season 2. All I'm hoping for is an array of new songs.

So, any potential for yuri? i'm aware there won't be any full-on kissing or anything, but even a wee bit of subtext is good enough with a pair of the ol' yuri goggles :D

Well the keyboardist, "Mugi" clearly shows signs that she likes other girls, and not in just a friendly way...

Anyways, I'm gonna have to go against everyone here and say that I absolutely adore this show still. Season 2 started airing last week, and it seems they had much more funding this time, so the animations look much more clean.

And everyone hates the new opening theme, and a slightly smaller amount of people hate the ending theme as well, but I dunno why; I like them both.

I watched this while it was airing, I think I followed it 'cause it reminds me of Azumanga Daioh and Suzumiya Haruhi or something... it's a cute series, though maybe a bit too much fetish fuel (I blame a friend who's too into it DX) I had no idea there was gonna be a second season until a few days ago XD

The new opening is alright, but not as catchy as the first one.. I think it's too... loud and not cute enough for "Afterschool Teatime". the ending's good, but not great.

As for the story, I'm still creeped out by those animal costumes, I wonder how long it'll take for them to realize that's why everyone's scared of them XD

I'm guessing second season is 13 eps long and covers until they graduate? Now I feel bad for Azusa, but if they get new members, how would they fit into the band?

I think I follow it for reasons similar to yours. I love comedy/school type shows such as Azumanga Daioh, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (it has comedy, damn it!), and Minami-ke. Episode 2 airs today, so judging from how quickly the subtitling people worked last time, I can assume that the subbed episode will be out by tonight or early tomorrow. I absolutely do not follow the hype though; Mio is NOT the cutest, "Moe, Moe, Kyun!" is not a catch phrase, and I don't think Yui sounds like a chipmunk. (She's just airheaded beyond belief and has a high voice.)

I agree with the opening, it's a little loud, and I couldn't even hear the tune the first time, but I think I've grown to like it. It doesn't have the cuteness factor that the other songs have, but I think the craziness and speed of it portrays their band pretty well too. Plus I love the animation styles used in the opening.

The ending, once again, isn't as good as the first season's, but it was good to see Mio step out of her boundaries to perform like that; although it does seem veeeeeeeeerry inconsistent...That song is my only lead at the moment for a guitar cover too, the opening is too fast right now...

I find the animal costumes hilarious, but like you said, they're creeeeeeeeeeeeepy! I couldn't believe they had a pig costume for Azusa already prepared. The freakiest moment is in Season 2, Episode 1 when people keep coming into the music room, and while in their animal costumes, the girls welcome them. If you pause the video right when they say "welcome!" (or "irasshaimasen!" if you're a little too into it), the cat/horse costumes are downright scary.

Azusa seems to be alright with the 5 of them for now, my guess is that they'll just wow everyone with an amazing concert and people will be begging to join. With a band of 5 already, I agree it'd be difficult to practice together, let alone perform together if more people joined.

I cannot wait to hear all the new songs that come with Season 2. The opening and ending themes will be released in their full version near the end of April, and if you look at the song selection the girls made in Season 2, Episode 1 you'll see that there's one new song (with yet another very odd name probably thought up by looking at something nearby) that has not been heard yet. (Curse you, episode 1! Showing another concert where only Fuwa Fuwa Time is heard! We've heard that 500+ times now, this isn't a Flight of the Conchords style show!) Anyways, shows like Haruhi have two seasons worth of music, and they're not even music based, so if K-on doesn't have as many or more, I'd be very disappointed...

After having K-On! heavily recommended by a certain someone (you know who you are, sweetie), I started watching it today and I find it adorable. I usually don't like subbed animes but I love the voices in this and the music is so catchy! There's definitely something to be said for an anime that can make a girl with tonsillitis bop around her room like a five-year old <3

EDIT: Though I did spend the whole of the first episode thinking that Ritsu and Yui were the same person XD

I really thought that this was a yuri anime. There are a lot of K-ON threads in the yuri board of 4chan. Most of them about Mio & Ritsu.
I'd probably watch it after Blue Drop.

Just thought I should mention that K-ON! as a show has started going slightly downhill. When I first heard of a 20+ episode season, I was so excited to see tons of concerts. It's what makes K-ON different; it's a music anime! This season so far had 1 really false concert using the same song they always do. We've hit episode 16 last Tuesday and no new concerts. Quite sad, honestly. However, they keep talking about a concert coming up, so I'm excited for that.

On the music side though, they somehow find new ways to release new songs. And they're great! I agree that the high-paced pop gets a little old after a while, but they always release songs I never expect. NO, Thank You is like Don't Say "Lazy", except it sounds even darker; awesome! Sawako keeps getting her own new songs, K-ON metal rocks!

So, here's to hoping they keep releasing new songs! Remember, one new song in the show usually means at least 2 new songs released on a single CD!

Bump!

Well, with the 2nd season finally finished, I'll have to give my overall thoughts:

The 2nd season was much better than the 1st, and has made me a fan. It's like they took the formula of the 1st season and improved upon it by making the other characters shine. Ritsu and Mugi finally get to step into the spotlight, not to mention more of an indepth look on Sawako's past and the Jun/Ui/Azusa interactions. The gradual breakdown of Azusa's sanity thanks to the club was also pretty fun. It all felt a bit closer to Azumanga in terms of eccentricity and interaction, and that's not a bad thing by any means. The ending to the last episode is kind of predictable, but for the most part gives off a sense of closure and was also done well.

There will be a K-On! movie coming soon, so I will be looking forward to that.

I enjoyed the second season as well. As stated above, I feel like some of it was wasted since I would've died to see more insert songs performed and more concert-y material. But I loved the slice-of-life we got anyway and their performance of Tenshi ni fureta yo for Azusa was absolutely beautiful. I love that everyone got a part in it!

Overall, funny and enjoyable!
