Long time no see! I bring some very interesting news for you. A few weeks ago one of our staff members suggested to show Capcom what we think of their franchise and how far we even went, as fans, to create a decent fangame for it. Apparently they liked what they saw and asked us about the story, so our writer, Marston, sent them a script of what is done for the game so far.

Things have changed a lot since then. This project is still in its testing stages and it isn't really clear if they are going to publish any official information sooner or later, but they gave it a shot with their own engine to rebuild some scenes from the game. As you can see on the screens it could very much be the first Ace Attourney game with 6 different languages on a single flashcart. What you see is a possible future advert for a japanese gaming magazine. Folks, keep your eyes open! Who knows what fortune has in store for us!

If this is legit (ie. got to be sceptical with April fools day tomorrow), great news!
Good to see one of the 1st released fan games actually getting recognition.

... Not trying to sound mean here, but I'm also not convinced ...
I mean, it's REALLY unlikely. REALLY REALLY unlikely.
I played the demo of "Hidden Traces" before and while it was entertaining and had a nice story line to it, I don't really think it would exactly meet the standards to get published.

And 6 languages on a single cartridge? Ah, come on. They split the languages for the EU version on two different cartridges for a reason ...

It's nonsense to split them. A Saiban Game has a size of 32 or 64 MB, so it's easy to put
6 Languages into 1 DS Card. The max size is 2GBit (256MB), that's more than enough for
the text and voices.

It may be nonsense, but Capcom does it anyway, and I'm sure they have a reason.
It's not about the pure size of a game, I'm sure there's more to it.

The limitation might be related to the low memory available on the DS. I'm sure Capcom releases the series as they do for some strong, valid reason.

That sounds likely - Seems like the DS just can't maintain 6 languages on one card with it's low memory. Thanks for the info, KSA.

No it's possible, there're many NDS Games with 6 or more languages,
here a list of examples:

Spoiler: Multi6
The Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian
La Vie D Emma Ma Clinique Pour Chiens
SpongeBob SquarePants - The Yellow Avenger
Farm Life
Spectrobes - Beyond The Portals
Safari Adventures - Africa
Nintendo Touch Golf - Birdie Challenge
Battles of Prince of Persia
LEGO Indiana Jones - The Original Adventures
SimCity Creator
The Suite Life of Zack & Cody - Circle of Spies
Tamagotchi Connection - Corner Shop 3
Miss Spider Harvest Time Hop & Fly
Whats Cooking Jamie Oliver
Lego Batman
Ice Age 2 - The Meltdown
Barbie Horse Adventures - Riding Camp
Toy Shop Tycoon
The Legend Of Spyro - Dawn Of The Dragon
Need For Speed Undercover
Imagine - Interior Designer
Jewel Master - Cradle of Rome
Rub Rabbits!, The
Burnout Legends

Spoiler: Multi7
Monster House
Emma in the Mountains
Zubo
Tennis Elbow

Spoiler: Multi8
Franklin's Great Adventures
Think Logic Trainer

Spoiler: Multi9
Maths Play - Have Fun With Numbers
Animal Genius
Mr. Slime Jr
Combat Of Giants - Dinosaurs

Spoiler: Multi10
Peter Jackson's King Kong
My Secret World by Imagine

Spoiler: Multi11
Garfield 2
Mr. Bean
The Waterhorse - Legend Of The Deep

Spoiler: Multi12
Littlest Pet Shop Jungle
Littlest Pet Shop Garden
Littlest Pet Shop Winter

And the NDS has only to load into the RAM what is needed and not
everything at the same time. If that would be so, you could not play
64/128/256MB Games, for example Apollo Justice (64MB).

Nice fake :)
Very well made, actually the only thing that gave it away for me wasn't the fake itself but the fact that the prosecutor in the fangame is basically Edgeworth who screws the rules because he has green hair.

Hey, can I ask you something? What font did you use on most of the images inside the "Picture" folder? I noticed it's not the PWFont, which one is it?

EDIT: OK, I'll be frank: I want to help with the translation. Please, Evil Lord Canas or DDRKhat, if you are interested, please contact me. Thanks.

I don't think it "died". The author just needs A LOT of free time, I guess. This stuff takes a lot of work.

But it is very inactive, yes. Too bad, I was looking forward to Khat's translation patch...

I too was looking forward to Hidden Traces. I'm disappointed I don't know German. *sigh*, maybe DDRKhat can still translate the first two cases?!

If Canas still lurks, maybe he can even see that this thread resurfaced and resume work on it.

And only the first case is done, the second case isn't finished yet, as far as I know. Last time I talked to Canas, he said "I need to get working on case 2 for HT." I think he still cares, but can't find the time to get anything releasable. It's the same problem I'm having with RM:AA (namely, sprites.)

Anyway, yeah, just in case, this shouldn't get locked. But the necro was unnecessary.

According to his profile, he has not been on CR since April. He has an MSN though. Maybe he is still working on this. Ah, the dreaded game plateau. I know how you feel DeMatador.

Language repositories within ROMs are held not in RAM... but in ROM (hence it being called a ROM...)

Plus the fact that the actual scripts the ROMs run don't even exceed the amount that would be a problem for the DS; it's all text placed under an encryption, nothing binary-wise.

They are simply called from the program and then read through there. The DS has 4 MB of RAM, more than enough to handle a script or two.

Thinking logically here, Capcom most likely releases it within different languages due to business reasons. Having a box art for every other language tends to help sales for that demographic of people speaking it, you know?

B12Core > Er... the sentence you're quoting was posted several months ago. I don't really see the point in correcting it.

In any case, it's a shame the English translation seems to have been abandoned... it's rare to see actual results with such ambitious projects. 8 hours of gameplay is definitely worth applauding, especially in RPGMaker. This game must have been hard as hell to make.

Probably sounded like an attempt for a fight, who knows. He loves to use my ages old quotes like they are the most recent thing I posted. I'm used to it. But, really no need to fix anything that has already been fixed a long time ago.

Anyway, the games seems very good, but too bad it is in german only. The trailer makes the game feel top notch.

As for the translation, as think it is paused for some reason (quite a long time since this topic was active). Probably Evil Lord Canas will return eventually, hope so he does.

Well, folks. OrderOfJustice member Magi here, we are not died.

The project is going on (a bit), but how some of you could have seen, we need
new location pictures and still we don't have them, if somebody would help us,
just say it! (but the locations should have really good quality).

Canas works some time on his other project DAYLIGHT II (an Action Horror Game)
when he have time for it because there is nothing what he can do for HT at this
time and Marston wants to complete the whole script. Now to my part, i and a few
othe people work/-ed hard on Character Sprites especially Redones/Quality Edits,
a new Trailer and some other stuff for the game.

Quote:

Like we said, the Game will only be translated when it's done. AND Khat's first steps
of a patch were not really good done. Sorry.

News of the Project can you find here in a NEWS-Box:
---> New official Website (english)
Well, the site is not completed yet and the News not exactly latest but a lot. xDDD
I will update it maybe soon if i have time for it. Currently i'm writing a game article

Order of Justice presents you THE Hidden Traces April Promotion Special! Madness in full blown 17 minutes including voice acting, that's something you don't see everyday! Let's see if you can spot the little bit of information for the 3rd case.

Oh, and we're still looking forward to anyone who would like to attempt an effort for a proper translation.
