A other reason not to get the Wii....remember the whole controller issue...now correct me if I am wrong but was the strap firm enough and the controller would slip.....sure today it is probably better but why take a chance...

and the Live Arcade, now that has Doom, which some call the one of the First Person Shooters.

Actually, with the Wii, you better make sure you have enough money to afford an entire wii mote and nunchuck combo, plus another controller if you want two player action.

That'll jack the price up to around closer to 400 dollars.

The only reason that it would be an issue is if you're too stupid to hold the thing.

Kenji: Uh, the Wii comes with one Wii-mote and nunchuck, though another wiimote-nunchuck would add $80 to that.

They fall under the same category. I've never once had my wiimote fall out my hand and I have a poor grip.

I never had a gamecube, so that adds to the quality of the wii, really. meaning it get's all it has as a wii, PLUS whatever the gamecube had.

Of course, I never had a Game Boy Advance, either, so the same thing goes for a DS.

....and I never had a X-box, so that would add to the 360..... right?

There are quite a few games out for all the systems, but the majority really.... arn't nice.

1) Wii: As Kenji said, Party games. Unserious games, heck, MINI games most of 'em. So there really arn't alot of games for the wii, and would die without its flagship titles.

2) 360: Eh, so far I've seen, alot of the games are the same '1st person shooter in some kind of war-environment', and I have never been fond of them. So far, there arn't alot of games for it that really makes me go 'damn! I really need that!'... of course, if you add in the original x-box titles, it suddenly becomes rather attractive. But alone, it is still spank-full of games that are going 'let's not bother about gameplay, crank up on that grafics instead!!!'... same thing the PS3 is suffering from. Except worse. Because the PS3 has alot more grafical posibilities in the games. And that might just be counter-productive.

3) DS lite: Being European, alot of the games that really made the DS what it is came out/ is comming out so late that it basicly killed it. But looking past that, there is alot of posibilities with it. And if Capcom get's out the Megaman series to focus on this console, as well as the Phoenix Wrights, then it really packs a punch ageanst the hard-hitters mega-grafix consoles, and even the wii. The wii is designned in the same dirrection as the DS, but the Wii is still the next generation console - a console for a generation yet to come.

Even if I'm looking forward to the gaming posibilities the wii has, right now, the DS really leads.

Which is rather interestingly, considering the oposition.

Actually the 360 is getting alot of the PS3 exclusives and now has alot of variety, sure the only 360 games you hear of are Gears of War and Halo 3.

Just for shits and giggles lets wander over to gfaqs and look at the top ten xbox 360 games.

01 Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
02 Tenchu Z
03 Forza Motorsport 2
04 Guitar Hero II
05 Dead Rising
06 Gears of War *
07 Marvel Ultimate Alliance
08 Saints Row
09 Shadowrun *
10 The Darkness *

Thats 3 FPS shooters and 1 FP action game (elder scrolls) out of 10 games. 4 of them fall into different categories of 3rd person action game, one is a racing game, and one music rythm game. Thats quite a bit a variety, and that's only in the top ten.

Now lets do the same thing for the wii, but challenge the idea thats its all party games

01 Zelda: Twilight Princess
02 Resident Evil 4
03 Super Paper Mario
04 Super Smash Bros. Brawl X
05 Mario Party 8 *
06 Wii Sports *
07 Pokemon Battle Rev X
08 Manhunt 2 X
09 DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi
10 MK Armageddon

I see 2 party games on that list, of course the X'd games are not out yet anywhere (Pokemon is out in Japan so I'll not count it cause Wii is region locked I believe). Just to throw in three "replacement titles" lets do Red Steel (a medicore shooter with alot of attention at launch), Sonic and the Secret Rings (big name action character), and Wii Play (popular for the free contoller).

So now we have 3 1/2 party games (Sports, Play, and Mario Party 8, 1/2 is from Sonic). You have a FPS shooter, two fighting games, a platformer, 1 1/2 action/adventure game, and a third person shooter. So really not many party games, the Wii also has a nice variety like the 360.

Now I can rate quality, but only my opinion on quality (one man's junk is another man's treasure). But the argument that Wii is full of party games or 360 is full of FPS is not justified. Now I know this does not show all the games, but I'm trying to show that the system has variety, even if you don't want to admit it.

Doesn't matter, I am still getting the PS3, since I already have games from the PS1 and PS2. I am all about backwards compatibility!

Just like the 360 is not truly backwards compatible, neither is the PS3 at this time, it was supposed to be but Sony f'ed it up.

Oh, so closer to 350. Sorry for not calculating the cost more efficiently for you.

Also, Bass, your list of Top 10 wii games includes games that aren't even out yet, namely Brawl, Battle Rev, and Manhunt. So why include them?

What the hell are you even talking about.

The 360's BWC was a pretty big shame, since it meant I had to alternate whenever I wanted to play most of the older Xbox games I have. Probably more disheartening was the MS approach to it, mostly that we 'got as much as we deserved' and they were moving on. I at least appreciate Sony's updates to fix and retouch backwards compatibility--I especially like latest update which really smoothed the edges of PS2 games so they appeared better in HD. .hack, Abyss, and FFXII looked really fantastic on my hdtv thanks to that.

As for the PS3's backwards problems, they didn't 'f'up' as you'd like to put it. You can't expect every game in the world to play fine out of the box. A majority did, and the firmware upgrades keep rounding it out. Plus, you can always check the status or possible issues of a game on this site, http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus which I really appreciate from a customer service standpoint.

What's worse is that before the consoles came out, MS was riding a pretty decent gravy train and Sony's PR was pretty shitty. It's like a complete fulcrum shift right now, which no one could have predicted.

Shifting execs CAN actually do wonders.

Ok, First:How is this realated to helping the topic creator choose?
Second: Why the hell are we arguing over Next Gen systems?
Third:You can always start a next gen debate. I know I argued too, but obviously we are trying to be superior to one another. That's just getting us no where. Now you can type hate crap at me all you want.Point is I am tired of everyone arguing over games when we are supposed to be helping this person decide. That's just my opinion.

Or we can just ignore your post and keep talking about what we were talking about.

Anyway, has the original poster ever replied in a while? If the decision has been made, I may as well close this.

I don't see that--at least, Hatman and I moved on.

If I don't see any new, great constructive posts or recommendations though I'll close it; feel free to make a new thread when you buy whatever, in that case.

(I still recommend the DS if you can't get anything more than a Core 360.)
