I was scanning the boards and I couldn't find this anywhere...I just thought it was interesting...

In AA, we find out that Manfred was shot in his right shoulder way back during DL-6

then, in JFA, de Killer gifts Phoenix his *gift* by shooting Franny...in her right shoulder. But unlike Von Karma , she gets it removed.

Just something that I found interesting, and wondered if they planned to link father/daughter in that way...

Whoah. I never realized that. Dead serious. o__o

...

Oh shut up. I'm slow sometimes. D=

ANYWAY.

Um... probably. I see no reason why not. It's interesting. Must be, like, the von Karma luck or something.

Ah, yes, it's an interesting contrast between her "perfect" father and herself.

I noticed that too. A cruel twist of fate for Von Karma indeed. I can't see any emotional significance in having it removed, but definitely in keeping it (like one would learn she did during a certain examination).

But now comes the big question: when is it Edgeworth's turn?

It's probably one of those subtle references, but there are a lot of contrasts. The key thing being that if Manfred had his bullet removed, the doctor would've been able to testify when it was removed and present the bullet as evidence. Ballistic markings would've proven that he was shot during the DL-6 incident and thus reveal the truth behind the whole thing.

Franziska, on the other hand, was merely shot to force her to take some time off in order to recover. She could afford to have the bullet removed because it doesn't have the same significance that Manfred's had. Also, she probably kept the bullet to use as evidence and for its ballistic markings.

Objection

Edgeworth is not a Von Karma by blood, so therefore he will never be shot in the right shoulder. Ever. The left shoulder, maybe...

I find it more ironic that both were shot in the shoulders because of bad karma (lol, pun).

Think about it:

1-4
Manfred uses every dirty trick in the book and thus has a perfect record for 25 years (this is prior to the actual 1-4 Case). Then karma comes back in the form of Gregory Edgeworth and bullet fired from a pistol, which was thrown by the son of Von Karma's most hated enemy.

2-4
Franziska follows in the steps of her father. Using every trick in the book to get a perfect-win record; even using cruel methods like evidence forgery and arranged testimonies. Then karma comes back and in the form of a bullet shot to the right shoulder and career of perfect-wins ruined by some no-name defense attorney.

*sigh* Irony is delicious.

We should use that as a medical term for being shot in the right shoulder. A Von Karma.

Now excuse me while I go shoot Edgey in the right shoulder.

I always thought it was just a subtle allusion to the first game, as well as an ironic link between father and daughter.

Yeah, I wondered about that. I figure its something she picked up from Manfred subconciously.

I'm pretty sure it's entirely metaphorical. It's a way of showing Franziska's real nature, which is revealed after Case 4 in comparison to von Karma, who's obviously very different.

The similarties I think are for dramatic irony. Also, the similar movements are probably also for the audience to pick up on rather than Phoenix or Mia.

No, I didn't. He was left out intentionally... while he has the same expression and crossed arms, he lacks the hand-clenching motion to make it a perfect match.

Edgey probably didn't want to mess up his fancy-dancy suit. How much was it again, like 5 Grand? Edgy

That or the Von Karma-hand-clench is some genetically inherited trait exclusive to... well, Von Karmas, and cannot be taught to others outside the bloodline. Von Karma

Or he (as in Edgeworth) just doesn't care.

Yeah I noticed the same thing. Though Manfred had a more serious reason in not wanting it remove. I quote Edgeworth;

"He is perfect. He wouldn't have left an evidence trail and had the bullet removed."

Manfred didn't want too leave evidence, as well as his 'perfection'.
Fran had an easier choice in that she could just have it removed and not have to worry about being incriminated over anything.

Ah, yes. It certainly caught my eye, what with both of them being shot in the shoulder I thought it may come up later in the case for some apparent reason. But alas.

So, who is next on the "von Karma" injury list?
Edgeworth?

As for Franny getting the bullet removed, since she had already lost two cases against Nick, her "perfection" was already down the tubes. That or Edgey went ballistic and insisted upon it.

I thought that she had it removed because she had no reason to hide it. There were loads of witnesses (she did get shot outside the courthouse after all) and the bullet would prove nothing against her. Her father kept the bullet in for one sole reason, and that reason was because it was proof of his guilt.

I did think it was ironic that she gets shot as well. But as stated, unlike her father, she didn't get shot for doing anything wrong. She was unfortunately at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I hope Edgeworth doesn't get shot! He's kinda grown on me in the last two games.

Technically Manfred didn't do anything wrong when he was actually shot, the crime was committed after it happened.

It wasn't only ironic that she was shot, but that she was also shot in the same place as her father - her shoulder. And she was also shot with a pistol. Also, as previously stated, they were both in the wrong place at the wrong time. Manfred had not done anything wrong yet when he was shot. However, Franziska was shot on purpose.

Mybe its a coincidence. If you think, theres a 25% chance they'd get hit in the same shoulder. In other news: :edgy: :ka-whip: :taser: Edgeworth: smile and you can avoid the whips and tasers .
