I played the first game first, started the second and third both shortly after I finished it. Finished 2-1, 2-2 after I finished 3-1. I was going to play through the rest of game 3, solely because my best friend loves Atmey and Tigre. OTL. I decided to wait it out though...Everything else is pretty on track though.
Apparently a lot of people start with game 2 D8

Let's see...I played Trials and Tribulations (3) first, it was between that and Justice for All...
Then I found the first Phoenix Wright game (1) quite by coincidence...it didn't have its original case though
Then, because it was only $20, I got Apollo Justice (4) I flew down the sidewalk on my bike just to buy it, didn't wanna start playing it until I beat T&T again, but I gave in and started playing it that night
So then I searched high and low for JFA (2)...couldn't find it anywhere...one of my friends called me one night asking what game I was looking for...she had found JFA...so she started on it, but gave it to me as payment for a $20 debt
So the order is 3-1-4-2

My sister was borrowing AJ and T&T from a friend and I wanted to play it [after seeing the OBJECTION! everywhere on the interwebz]. She wouldn't let me play T&T, so I stole AJ.
I loved it and couldn't get enough. <3
So then I wanted to play the rest and get to know the other characters.
I'm so happy I did. I love this fandom. <333

Same here. I also played T&T first, and then the rest in order. When I started, I thought T&T was the latest (it wasn't, AJ was), and I just wanted to try something new because I was bored. Loved it, so I got the other games as well.

My friend recommended the series to me so I went to Gamestop and asked for "the first Phoenix Wright game" and the idiot behind the counter handed me JFA, so.
It still worked out, I guess, but I would have rather went in order because of the whole Edgeworth story.

When AAI came out, I played that.
So the order I played them was 2, 1, 3, 4, AAI. I was also confused with the whole Edgeworth thing, since I didn't play the first one when I played JFA. And Maya was a bit confusing, too, but 2-2 made up for the story.
