Oh, and ILPWXD, don't worry I'll spend as much time with you online as possible on Sunday. At least you'll have your CR hubbie.

Also, too late to send a friendly card to anyone. Especially as I don't the adresses of any of my real life friends who are girls. I just know them through school.

You guys don't get it.

If you do something extra nice in any of the 364 days (or 365, every 4 years) that are not February 14, your couple might get used to it. And then, if you don't have dinner in a fancy restaurant every week, she will be all "WTF WRES MY DINNER LOL", and there's a high chance that she's dumping you in a month's time.

Now, in Valentine's Day, you can time and/or money to show in an unusual way that you love/really care for somebody, and they won't get used to it! Because the sudden love explosion was just for that day! If they expect you to be that romantic any other day, it's their problem!

God bless the fourteenth of February.

NOTE: Since I know there's a lot of people here that don't seem to have a working sarcasm detector, I'll make clear now that this whole post was a joke.

That's too bad, I thought it was a pretty good point. Not saying you shouldn't be nice or romantic the rest of the year, of course, but there's no need to be over-the-top either.

When I was younger I'd buy a bunch of Valentines and give them to people I knew at school, both girls and boys. Felt good, too. Wish I could do something like that now...

I've never had a girlfriend, but I remain optimistic. One of these days...

Having said that, my Valentine's Day "mainstay" consists of exchanging cards with my family. I'll be calling a friend of mine to wish him a happy birthday too, though.

I'm sending an anonymous card to someone I like. It's not really because I think he'll magically fall in love with me if I do, but because I know he's not usually the type that people like, so it'll really make him happy. As long as he doesn't know it's from me. xD

I've always hated Valentine's Day. If you really love someone, you show it all year round rather than just giving them a rose or something equally unimaginative on one day of the year. Well, that's my bitter, cynical opinion anyway XD

No, it's not a bitter, cynical opinion, it's the truth! Once again people, THIS!

I also agree with what DeMatador says though. You can show your love all year 'round, but on Valentine's Day, everyone's in the same mood setting, so it's nice to do something extra special.

You guys all seem to have some pretty crazy perceptions of love, huh? "People should show their love every day, not just on Valentine's Day!" As nice as that seems, it's pretty much impossible for most human beings to treat people as nice as they do on Valentine's Day, so get over it.

Usually a movie promoting a huge cast means the opposite. Remember, quality over quantity.

And whaddya know, the movie has 12% on rotten tomatoes.

As for Valentine's Day itself, too bad I broke up with my boyfriend a month ago. Ah well, life goes on.

Besides I'll be going to Toy Fair this Sunday.

Ultimate Prosecutor in "A Valentine's Carol".

@LySs: Well, yeah, quality over quantity. But sometimes quantity means quality. May I present "The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus"? "Live 8"?

Well, I'll have to convince her to go watch something else. My pretext can be "this movie is too unoriginal." She's got a taste for originality, like me. Then, I can say "plus, there's a Jonas in it", and seal the deal. She hates the Jonas Brothers. Thank God for that.

Any other reccomendations?

In honor of St. Valentine's Day, this is for all the aching souls who yearn for another, who are waiting for their "special someone." :pearl-blush:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMad7ZdiewI

This is "Love Will Come," by Vince Guaraldi. For those who don't know, Vince composed music for animated adaptations of the Peanuts comic strip over the course of several years.

This rendition may not be the greatest, but it's still pretty nice. Just remember that your special someone may be closer than you think.

Keep living and hoping. Happy Valentine's Day. :pearly:

It's not that I don't love Valentine's Day, only that my years working at the store known as Wal-mart has made me rather jaded with holidays. This year...oh so many balloons around the freaking store! I couldn't stay in, I WAS CLOSTROPHOBIC!! :beef: ....at least I worked outside in the parking lot.

Yeah, he left me an "I love you" note on my phone during the day, so that was cute. My weekend has been so work filled and hectic, his also, though less than mine, we've kinda neglected communication over the past couple days. When work calls, work calls. But it's alright, maybe we'll get the chance to talk tomorrow, since I'm outta school and he's not working.

That is most excellent. It's good to hear you'll have a chance to talk tomorrow; like I said, it matters not that you express your love on Valentine's Day, but more on a regular basis.

Good luck, and to you and everyone else on CR, I send you an e-Card: http://www.care2.com/send/card/6822

And yes, I know I posted it last page, but since it's V-day, I've decided to spread the joy again!

I'm guessing most of those who cared about it left since I know a lot of the new people don't know about and for the old ones that are still around, guess they forgot. By the way, I wasn't around for Valentine's Day last year, but did you guys celebrate it then?

You know if you tried a whole bottle of beer/cider/lager/whatever your having the taste will become less 'unbearable' as the alcohol sets in and soon it starts to taste quite nice it's just those first few bottles that are difficult to get past.

Haha, I'm quite aware of that, but when I was young, I was quite traumatized at how much my dad would drink and smoke. I pressured him to the point where he quit both, and ever since then, I've never even tried to get near a bit of alcohol or tobacco. I doubt I'd make it through even a small sip, let alone a bottle.

PS: I know I said something that sounded contradictory, but I have never touched a bottle/can of alcohol and I know the taste. How? I was unknowingly given a tiny bit of no alcohol beer from my dad; he had disguised it all this time, but I finally knew what it was, when I was older. No way that was just a bitter wine.

Anyways, I know I can't guarantee it, but I'm going to try my best to avoid those substances for my lifetime.
