A solid case. It had me enticed all the way up to the beginning of End, Part 1 but then the whole focus shifts from the murder scene being the stadium to the haunted house, and I was like "WTF COGNITIVE DISSONANCE IS GO". Plus, I find it more than very far-fetched that Lance and friends anticipated EVERY hypothetical scenario of the chain of events leading up to Lauren shooting "Mr. Deacon" on the stage. Then again, I also stayed up late playing this case but I feel like my head is going to spin for several days until I sort out everything that happened.

Most confusing case so far.

EDIT: I also felt accomplished when I figured out the "mirror wall" contradiction.

Also, as subjective proof that AA has the most inept police force ever:
Spoiler:
It took 10 men to break open the door to the staff room, yet it never crosses their minds to check the consistency between the broken sword and handle? That's some kind of elite police force, Lang. =/

This case was just full of throwbacks! :edgy:

Lance getting a "love letter" from Viola at Tender Lender was amazing and when that first popped up I was so incredibly happy and busted out laughing. Lance had no idea just who he was dealing with, hee hee hee. :uramidn:

If you check out the signpost in the stage area during Kay's "Little Thief" simulation, it will read:

"Magical Battle! Max Galactica vs. Troup Gramarye! Tomorrow, a concert from The Gavinneers!" I was really hoping I'd randomly run into Max, but alas, it didn't happen.

Also, there's a comment about how a cactus was generously donated to the theme park from the police and Kay wonders if they secretly run a cactus farm. Edgeworth then thinks to himself "but I think I have seen a cactus farm somewhere in the police station..." I wonder if the cactus was Billy? :jake:

In terms of the actual case... it was rather confusing for the most part. Even when I thought I had things figured out I couldn't quite get together how to get there. I was thoroughly stuck at a few sections. The biggest wall that comes to mind is when you are confronting Shi-Long Lang about if Oliver and Lauren really new each other before the kidnapping or not. It took me forever to figure that one out.

It was a good case though, I still prefer "Turnabout Airline" but so far this game is proving to have top-notch cases.

If I remember correctly, you don't; it's a red herring.

To pass that section I think you have to prove that Lauren and Oliver weren't the only kidnappers by presenting the boxes of costumes.

I'm liking it so far, hoping it's longer than the first two, which were too short.

Do any of the "logic" connections seem obvious to anyone, like the fact that there was a secret door under the tarp and the key unlocks it? Often with AA games my problem is not what's going on or what evidence to present, but what order to do it in. On case 2, I got ahead of myself presenting the document in Borginian.

I got a bit sidetracked there. What about Edgeworth's cell phone? Especially for a game set in the future, it looks pretty old. It looks more like one of those cordless phones from the early 90's.

The intro scared the hell out of me.

Kay Faraday is cute as a button.

Ema, Meekins, and Oldbag were all really enjoyable welcomes.

I wish that Ernest wasn't arrested, he seemed like a nice guy. Plus, the theme that plays for him is super awesome. Lance was a bitch though.

Lauren Paups was...creepy and pretty emo. She kept trying to cut her hair and I could've sworn I saw a bandage on her arm, no doubt from self-mutilation.

How is Viola still operating Tender Lender? I thought Furio was the one who started it? You'd think that she'd go away from the loan business to forget him...

All the Badgers in this case really made my head spin.

I thought that Phoenix, Maya, and Pearl made a cameo in this case? I saw a video where Edgeworth was in the Main Gate freely exploring it. That never seems to happen. Did they remove that from the English version or something?...

Shi-Long Lang reminds of some sorta "Chinese Dog Whisperer" the way he goes on and on about packs and stuff like that. Was a great source of lulz, it was almost impossible to take him seriously, especially when he shouts "Aiya!" like any Chinese person does.

I had multiple fangasms when I saw the sign about the epic Magician's battle of the century with Max Galactica vs. Troupe Gramarye. I wonder who would've won?...

Overall, this case is only awesome for its cameos and characters, the rest of the case is way downhill like most third cases initially are for me.

I agree. Plenty of people think the badgers are creepy, but having the Proto Badger sneak up on you with a sword would be terrifying to anyone. Edgeworth probably shouldn't have gone in there alone.

When Edgeworth (or maybe it was someone else, IDK), said something like "Badger, badger, badger, badger...", was that a reference to the infamous flash cartoon?

I really enjoyed this case - the sheer convolutedness of the scheme was a joy. There were so many costumes and tricks to keep track of that I got the sense that the designers were really trying to make you work, but the pacing kept it from devolving into a tangled mess.

The blueprint weirdness in the Haunted House is a bit of a wall-banger, though.

Quote:
Plus, I find it more than very far-fetched that Lance and friends anticipated EVERY hypothetical scenario of the chain of events leading up to Lauren shooting "Mr. Deacon" on the stage.

The problem isn't the events BEFORE the shooting; it's the events AFTER the shooting.

They didn't really anticipate any of it, in my opinion - it was a scheme concocted on the fly by Lance, possibly with his father's help. In the haunted house, Lance shot Mr. Deacon in an entirely unpremeditated scuffle (if you believe him.) Then, he knocked out Edgeworth, possibly because you don't want a Prosecutor poking around near a body. Then, he realized that he had to dispose of two people - Edgeworth, and Deacon. And that's when he got his 'two birds with one stone' idea - trick Lauren into thinking Deacon was still alive by kidnapping Edgeworth and putting the costume head on him, while disposing of Deacon himself, and then getting Lauren to take the fall for all of it.

The details of timing are fuzzy for the next part, at least to me, but he definitely got his father's help to get rid of Deacon's costume in the ocean, and then set up Edgeworth as "Deacon" to back up his story that he fought Deacon and knocked him out. When the time came to escape, he gave the gun with blanks to Lauren, warned her that Deacon had a gun and had escaped, did the costume head-swap, and ran to the stadium for a shootout.

Since he was just another costumed mascot, as far as anyone knew, only Lauren would think he was dangerous; nobody else would interfere. Using the stage for a vantage point, he drew his gun on Lauren and spooked her into firing at him, knowing how strong the power of his suggestion would be on her. If she fired multiple blanks or one, it wouldn't matter; he'd just act as if she hit him once, and collapsed.

Here's where things get messy.

It was great to have a witness for the original shooting - but how could he be sure no witnesses would stick around or interfere after that point? He'd have been better suited to pick a location more remote. It would be especially inconvenient if the "corpse" were seen getting up to it's feet!

Nope it's there. After you get booted out of the arena, head right and go out the main gate. Keep going right until you get to the bridge. They were there when i did it (i did talk to Ernest and Lauren first, in case it makes a difference).

I love all of the previous game references (especially seeing :uramidn: is still around). AJ only had a couple, this has tons of them.

I wasn't disappointed with Kay. I knew she was gonna be a great character just from what i had seen beforehand. She's more clueless on things than Maya or Trucy.

I knew how Edgey was gonna respond when he ran into Oldbag. And i was right XD

Well, it's an amusement park, and he needs to pick someplace where he can be higher than Lauren. I'd think the Stadium would be pretty deserted when there's no show on; the only reason Oldbag was there was b/c she was sleeping on her break (as in, b/c it was quiet and no one else was there)

Goddamn... Freaking.... PROTO BADGER!! I'm going to have nightmares for sure. DX

One thing about this one is that I didn't feel like Lauren and Lance, the two most pivotal people in the case, got much development at all. :/ Maybe it's because they were both introduced late?

It's kind of funny how it seems everybody is stalking Edgeworth.

I lol'd at Viola's "love letter".

I haven't finished yet probaby because I restarted this case just to see the Phoenix/Maya/Pearls cameo *cough*...

But! Did anyone notice the pun about Lauren? Lance keeps calling her "Lolli" and it was bothering me. How did he get "Lolli" from Lauren Paups? ...And then it hit me. Lolli Paups. HA! *brick'd*

Also... Did anyone notice the prison's name that the victim was from? Penn E. Dent Prison? Take out the E... Penn Dent Prison...? Is that supposed to be a pun on the 2 pendants that came up during the case, I wonder? :V

That's what I thought too, at first. But it only sounds out the first half of the word, so I thought 'maybe it was supposed to be a pun on pendant...?' I think it could be either :3

Now that I've finished this case... My heads spinning with all of the different badgers x_x After that one comment Edgeworth made, I can't get the 'badger badger badger badger' song out of my head xD

'Penident', while I don't think it's a word, sounds a lot like 'penitent'. There's no need for the 'iary'.
I wanna go replay this case to see the Nick/Maya/Pearly cameo, but I can't be bothered replaying alll of that and then having to replay the fourth case again, which I actually haven't finished.
That Proto Badger with the sword is pure Nightmare Fuel.
I thought that Lauren's crush on Edgeworth was quite funny. He was totally oblivious, just like with Rhoda Teneiro.
More proof that he's a Steel Samurai fanboy (apart from the novel in his luggage in case two, and his thoughts after you talk to Sal); He mentions the Steel Samurai and Evil Magistrate after you examine the slumped-over Badger doll. Is this a bit of Ascended Fanon?

This gave you Nightmare Fuel and the security footage from GS 1-5 didn't? I actually found that a bit more creepy because we see a guy get stabbed and the assailant disappears while the Blue Badge dances around happily the entire time. *shudders*

I may restart the case too. Partly because I want to catch a glimpse of Maya, Phoenix, and Pearl (I know about it, I just wanted to see it for myself).

However, I'd also like to play it to check the timeline. I want to write a short fanfic that takes place immediately before.

Oh. Goodness. FINALLY.

It took me FOREVER to get past that damn part that, according to the rest of this thread, many others were having trouble with. I did present the stolen costumes to every line except for the one I needed to present it to, so I was pretty frustrated until I saw this thread and realized it was the answer after all.

I missed the Phoenix cameo, unfortunately.

Kay is so awesome I don't know how they could have not introduced her earlier (well, yes I can, but you know what I mean). Her brand of humor sometimes gets a bit dark, and reminds me of Maya in a way. Some interesting conversations between her and Edgeworth.

Lang seems pretty cool, though the one part I was stuck at made me want to strangle him and his time-wasting "Not so fast!"s. I found it interesting that he hates prosecutors for the reason that they only care about their guilty verdicts. I was thinking the same thing about him and his "high arrest record," the difference being, he does back off in the presence of the truth.

Shih-na... not a whole lot of words for her so far. An appropriately polite cold fish, but I'm sure there's more to her than that.

Ernest Amano... do your ears hang low? Ha ha ha. My impression of him changed at the end when I realized he was just as corrupt as other criminals. (Hiding a big secret while doting on his equally corrupt, spoiled child of a son... they remind me of a certain noble family from Suikoden V.) I loved it when Edgeworth said something like, he refused to let Lance stay a child forever. That was just so damn... manly.

Lauren... oh, ha ha ha. Licking her ring pop and freaking out about her fantasies... I thought she was a total drama queen at first. Very sad about her father. But LOL @ her crush on Edgeworth, and the fact that Edgeworth had to tell her he wasn't out to seduce her. One thing, though, I wasn't sure why she wasn't arrested as well, at least on a lesser charge. She did take part in faking a kidnapping and wasting police manpower and stuff.

It was neat to see the cameos by Portsman and Faith. When I saw the two pendants, I figured this was the case they had been working on.

There was an interesting quote by Edgeworth during... I believe it was one of the conversations he and Kay had with Lauren. Lauren was being vague about her relationship with Lance, and Kay wanted her to clarify, asking whether or not they had "decided" they were going out. When Edgeworth questioned the necessity of it having to be a decision between the two, saying something like, "Shouldn't they just know?", I just thought how naive that question was, and yet, at the same time, an incredibly profound thought. Edgeworth was once described as a 'romanticist' by Manfred von Karma. There are several definitions to the word, but I can see how it applies in the sentimental sense...at least, here.

I didn't enjoy this case as much as the first two, but it was all right. Some things had me hanging by a thread... I was literally one or two mistakes away from a truth that was lost forever. I literally pulled guesses out of my ass at least twice, and found myself surprised by the logic. But as more events unfolded, I could see how it fit together.

I love the 'Badger Bible'. 'UNIQUE PINK BOW!' I love how they also worked 'Proto- Badger' into it.

When Kay was explaining how the Pink Badger was different, I was really reminded of Ms. Pac-man. "Look, her eyelashes are longer! And she has lipstick!" And she also has a bow, but she didn't mention that! She's totally a girl!

If I remember correctly, you don't; it's a red herring.

To pass that section I think you have to prove that Lauren and Oliver weren't the only kidnappers by presenting the boxes of costumes.

Yeah, that worked. Thanks.

Also, I hate Lance and the girl. :meekins:

I agree, WORST AA CHARACTERS EVER.

I prefer Turnabout Airlines to Case 3 by a long shot...but it's actually not a bad case. I enjoy cases that challenge me and this one has done that quite a bit so far. Currently at the bit when they investigate the kidnapper's room and a Proto Badger turns up.

I thought "The Bad Badger: He Has a Gun!" was an excellent pastiche.
No, I seriously don't have anything else to put here besides a link that gets me rewards when people click on it.
