At the beginning of every cross-examination it scrolls through the entire thing, then characters make comments about it, and then after that you gain the ability to Press/Present. But the dialogue, and the fact that Phoenix yells "Hold It!" and "Objection!", implies that its the first time Phoenix etc. had heard the statements, even though they heard it moments before and commented on it. I realize no series can be perfect, but this completely shatters the immersion of the game for me.

Yes I know exactly what you speak of and it struck me as weird as well.

Yes that bothered me too. oO But I think that witnesses just repeat their statements second time, when you cross-examinate them. =)

Yesss this has always bothered me a little!
Like, Phoenix will have some crazy shocked reaction to a statement he already heard two minutes ago. It does mess with the flow a bit, doesn't it. ;0

it may bug me as well, but it is nice that the game allows you to go over the statements as many times you need.

Actually, in Case 3 of JFA, Moe's first testimony is just him whining about how unfunny he is. You never get to cross-examine him for that because he gives his real testimony right after...

But yeah, this is annoying, it's why I always fast forward through them...

Haha.. Nahh I like how it does that. It gives you some time to think about the testimony as a whole and then work out what to present. And the characters comments are fun to read.

Man, the game would be so much better if you only got one chance to object to a sentence before you move on and can never go back.

I shed a tear for what could have been~

I like to think the green text is, say, a reproduction of the testimony (transcript, recording, whatever), especially since characters are able to "amend" their testimonies. I agree that pressing a certain point multiple times and the characters repeating themselves is an unavoidable part of the medium, but I think it's possible to justify testimony at least a bit.
No, I seriously don't have anything else to put here besides a link that gets me rewards when people click on it.

Being my uncle a lawyer, I got the chance to have a look at some of his records and such. Apparently, at least here in Italy, every single word a witness says gets transcripted onto paper for further examination. That includes any exclamation, be it ZVARRI or anything else, and all the rest. So I take it that the green text is the transcription of the witness' testimony, and the game divides it into bits to allow you to press only certain sentences instead of others.

Pressing the witness on the same matter with the same question more than once means badgering though, so what I'd do would be to make it so that if you press a statement twice, you still get an answer but also a penalty, and maybe a slightly different comment from the witness (some sort of annoyed or mocking line before answering would suffice).

Well, maybe what happens when you "Press" a second time is Nick looks at the transcript of the witness's response to the press? That works, right?

That could be an explaination too. I just wanted to add some spice to the game.

There's already a thread for complaints of this kind.
