Your not really giving me much to go on here. Did you extract it? If so, where? Did you go into the folder that you extracted it to? Ok. Did you double click on PyWright.exe? Ok. What happened? Did it show a list of games? Did it say "there has been an error, check the logfile"? Well, if so, did you check the logfile? Did you understand it? If not, can you open it, and copy and paste it into here? So I can see what's not working?

I really want to help but without knowing what the symptoms are, I can't diagnose :)

Here is a step by step guide.

1. Download Pywright
2. Unextract it using WinRAR, Winzip or anything similar. Personally, I use zipgenius6.
3. Click on the uploader and select what you want to download.
4. Run Pywright.exe and enjoy ;)

Version 0.95 is now live, get from downloads page!

This is easily the largest update I've done, which can be seen in the changelog. That sucker alone took a few hours to put together. There are graphics updates, updater updates, scripting updates, you name it. Save/load works much better. If it's a part of PyWright, I probably touched the code.

There are likely to be things I missed in the release process, so expect a minor update when those things surface.

Yay, you finally released it.

I know StBacchus and I enjoyed beta-testing all the new features so everyone should enjoy it as it's great...except for how I always had problems with the updater :karma:

Nope. Let's blame it on Windows. Windows is always the scapegoat ;)

I downloaded Pywright again and tested it all out. Everything works perfectly.

Awesome. I've been testing the mac version for a few days and it runs much more smoothly. The new features are awesome too, I'll certainly look forward to using them in my Fangame~

Oh, and some games break at the moment because of the lack of gif support, but hopefully they'll change to sheets before long.

Yes! Partners in Justice has officially not been abandoned :D

Unless you convert the .gif files to sheets RJ then they will break (and there's no other fix :sadshoe:). Here is a quote from the changelog.

Well it's not exactly hard to convert to a more reliable sheet format lol. Just feed it through the gif converter. Might take a while for bigger fangames like Turnabout Scapegoat, which is full of gifs :/

I'm converting all of TScapegoat Sprites to PNG sheets. I can't run them through the converter as there are a few problems that occur when doing so.

Nothing major though - it's just how he animated his sprites with gickr.com :)

What is the problem you are having with the converter Tap? I might be able to fix it, either with a config option, or modifying the algorithm.

Also Ping' hit me up on fancase, I could mass convert the gifs if you point me to them.

It never works for me. It used to at the start but then everything played up and after submitting the enquiry, nothing returned however I tested it and it works. How odd...

And personally, your sprites are animated in a way that I would have to unsheet them to sheet them again to convert them back to a proper PNG sheet. You could get away with them if you converted them but then the blinking would be unnatural.

*shrug* I suppose do what's best.

Also... all of Snow's sheets are converted. I'll .zip them up when I finish with Vincenzo, Vex, Brisbane, Jack and Titus :tennis:

They aren't really a problem. I find the .gif files you create to be much more convenient than a sheet in some cases. It doesn't help that it is much easier for me to turn the .gifs into sheet format...if that makes sense at all :S

saluk - When I get the time to, I'll finish my mini project for you which consists of fixing every single PW sprite that's available. This includes changing all the blinking and stuff so it doesn't go all crazy. I'll also fix the AJ pack which is pretty bad at the moment because Phoenix doesn't work properly and the blinking is odd because the last frame is a half way blink :S

I think the problem with the gif converter (on my end) is that it doesn't handle the framerate. I'll get that fixed and then it should be usable.

The only problem with gif support is that we couldn't get it working on mac, and I didn't want games which only work on one platform :) Also, it makes the package a bit smaller to not include it. And sometimes people would make a gif with some program or other which didn't work.

If the webapp is not working, I'll put the tool out there instead. It's just a bit of a pain because it uses an external program, but I think I can figure out a way to handle that.

Though seriously, it's going great! Thank you Saluk for fixing all the issuses with the Mac version!

Run the .gif files through the converter:http://pywright.dawnsoft.org/gif2strip/index.cgi

You have to upload the .gif files to like Imageshack or something similar for it to work. The application can't connect to your computer and retrieve the files itself so you need to upload it to a image hosting site instead.

If you mean that I didn't provide an editor, this is true. The editor had not been well maintained. A tutorial project is started on the wiki, and the first chapter is about how to start, so it should help with that:

http://www.gyakutenwiki.net/w/PyWright/TutorialProject

Other than that, since it is incomplete, the best way to learn is to probably study the code of something like Turnabout Substitution (make sure you play it first so you aren't spoiled!)

Having a little trouble with something. With the new version, I'm not able to use the animated action background (blue lines) that appears during the close up of the defense and prosecution. I've used it in the BG folder and it worked fine, but now it just doesn't appear.

I believe saluk removed .gif animation support from Pywright due to it doesn't work on mac computers. You will need to make a PNG sheet of that background to fix your problem.

Found two bugs, saluk in the Updater (yet again XD)

For some reason, files will download but pause during it. I have to then click download continually to start the download again. I think this is a problem with the Windows version...

Secondly, when a file finishes downloading, it says "extracting: blah" and then freezes. I waited for 20 minutes and it was still extracting the same file...

...

On another note, I want to know if it is possible to have more control over casemenu as I would like to change a few things in it. Already, you can have an intro.txt script to have some sort of gameplay beforehand but this is not enough. I want to actually have music playing during the casemenu/selection however I haven't been able to get this to work. Is it possible, saluk?

Anything you can do in a regular game should be possible to do in the game intro.txt. I think I turn off music so that when a game is exiting the music doesn't stay running - I'll look into this.

I don't have the same issue with the downloader (I'm on windows). If you close pywright and open it again, it should resume extracting. Does this happen with every file, or was it a specific file? The extraction halting is worrisone.

The halting downloads might be my server - I should probably make it detect network problems and attempt to resume automatically.

EDIT: if you could upload your loghistory.txt, it might give me some indication of what's going on. (upload to megaupload or somewhere, loghistory can get big)

Tap: is there a specific music file that you are trying to play that won't work? I just made a test case with:

Spoiler: code
mus/mus aj1_s1/17 - Detention Center ~ Interview Tragicomedy.ogg
casemenu

And the music plays. When I run the case and come back it plays again.
