It's March, and you know what that means: it's time for Court Records' fourth annual Original Character Contest!

For those of you that haven't been around long enough to know, every year we host an OC Contest, where AA's many talented fans come together to showcase characters of their own creation. Have a character you wish would show up in the next AA game? Share it with us! You could even win something.

The contest is split into three divisions: Fanart, Fanfiction, and Sprites. They are judged separately and each division will be awarded a first and second place, plus "Croik's Choice." Unfortunately I haven't gotten my hands on suitable prizes yet, but that will be fixed soon! In the meantime, check out the rules and get started on your entries!

This also means that we will be in need of judges. If you're interested in being a contest judge (which means not being able to enter, remember!) reply in this thread.

And if you want to check out previous years, just head on over to the Archive.

(In other news, I'm sure some of you are wondering about the current banners...yes we have another planned but with Wooster and his computer parted by an ocean of torment it hasn't come together as soon as we planned! Enjoy the faceoff a little while longer)

Yeah, not getting in an entry this year (what a change!), so I'd like to judge :3 Sprites or fanfics, please. (...I don't think I'd be able to judge fanart well >_> I just hope fanfics get more entries than the fanfic contest...)

Also, if the next contest is here, then that means that the fangame contest that might happen is even closer... I've gotta get cracking on mine, but it's so hard... T_T Oh well, at least Turnabout Substitution is 3/4 done :)

EDIT: Yay, first ^^

If Croik or someone reads this, or if someone else has the same sort of questions...

1. I already won another contest here. Am I allowed to enter this one, too?
2. If yes to above, am I allowed to enter an OC I already created and published on fanfiction.net, supposing I write another fanfic?
3. If no to either of the above, can I be a judge, please?

Well, I entered my OC Zeth Gant into last years one and even though he didn't get a spot, I can't enter him again, so I'd say no. You'll need to make a new one.

I'd like to be a judge for this contest, for the fanfiction category to be more precise!

(Waouh... it's already time for the 2nd OC Contest since I joined this forum...)

Yeah- I joined on last years one :) I should've waited for this one though cause I didn't get the deal with it. If I knew I couldn't enter Zeth again I would've treated the contest a little more differently :/

Wow, it really doesn't seem like a year since the last one.
I think I'll give it a miss this time, but if there aren't enough judges for any particular section I'd be happy to step in.

I'm considering doing a fanfic entry, but I have a question:
The story for the fanfic would involve my character Leola Khatt (a prosecutor, albeit not a particularly remarkable one,) but also my sister's character Anna Leist (psychologist, expert witness.) My sister has no interest in entering the contest with her character, so it would just be my entry for Leola.

So, would I be allowed to (with permission from my sis of course) submit an entry that uses both these characters (while only entering my character,) or would it be better not to?

I may actually enter the contest this year, though whether I can finish and submit my fanfic entry on time is not certain. If not this year, then definitely next year.

Because you recently were a winner in the Fanfic contest, I'm afraid the answer is no. You'll have to wait for the next one.

But for everyone else, it's fine to enter an OC that you've posted on the forums, on ff.net, deviantart, or wherever. In fact, it might be a good idea to get feedback on your character before you enter. However, if you entered that character into the OC Contest previously, you cannot enter him or her again.

Are there any openings for judges? I'd prefer sprites, but fanart is also fine. I can judge fanfiction if that's all that's open, though. I draw, have helped my friend sprite, and read and write fanfiction regularly, so I feel I'd be a good judge. I also know the AA universe like the back of my hand... :minuki:

I don't know how my fanart judges you need. IF you have too many, I'll just enter the contest. I should be able to come up with an OC.

If it's possible, I'd love to be a judge in the fanart section again. This time there won't be any problems with my email adress not allowing the mails for the judging, I figured that out XD''

But if you already have enough judges and want to include more people who haven't gotten a chance at being a judge yet, I won't apply. Others should have the possibility to be part of the judging team too. :)

EDIT: Oh, didn't read the part about being a judge means not being able to enter. Disregard this.

EDIT No. 2: Okay, I've decided that I won't enter this year so I'd like to sign up as a judge for the fanfic division.

I've been waiting for this! >U< So excited to see how it turns out~

Question though. When submitting entries, does it have to be made specifically for the contest? Like... brand-spanking-new? Or is it fine if we submit an existing piece of work?

No, I meant the actual entry, not the OC. Does the art/sprite/fanfic have to be new or will existing works be perfectly acceptable?

Do you have any idea how depressed this makes me? :grey:
