So, I fell in love with the True Evenings of Grief song that plays in the first AA, and I kept thinking how awesome it would be if it was used as a cross examination theme. This took like 10 minutes to make because it isn't quite done, I just need some feedback as to what it needs... Although I still like how it sounds so far. :maya:

Comments? Feedback? Help? Waffles? :yogi:

Edit: Moderate one made aswell.

I like the idea, but your major flaw is that these are blatantly edited versions of the original. Here's what I suggest:
- Get a ripped MIDI from the game (I think someone on here has it, if not I do too).
- Then make your edits, such as speed, pitch, and instruments.

Interesting idea... But there are some problems : First, you can't just modify the speed of the original version to have a cross-examination theme. This is not the objective of this song. The, quality is bad.
And to finish, yes, it is possible to use this theme to have a cross-examination theme, but you must modify some part (delet and add).

So yes, the idea is interesting. But you must do more if you want to have a good result.

The point of it is that it IS and edited version of the original... And there's no way in hell I'm ruining it by making using an MIDI.
Also, like I said, this isn't finished yet, as I intend to add some more defining details.

How does making use of a MIDI ruin it?

Wait, do you want me to actually use the MIDI as the song?

I meant to use it as a sequence for different selected instruments. Perhaps you could use different instruments from the actual game and speed it up. I know this is doable in FL Studio, but it probably is in other software as well.

I got FL studio for this exact purpose, but then I remember that I have no fucking clue how to use it. :sadshoe:

To import a MIDI, go to File > Import > MIDI file. Then, pick one, and the data should be copied in to a project file. You can't hear anything if you simply play it, so pick a track, right click the name, and go to Replace > Audio clip. Then, pick an instrument from the menu and drag it on there. I've ripped the instruments from AJ and AAI if they would help, though it can prove quite challenging to find fitting ones.

Thanks! How did you rip the instruments? I could probably get the song's on my own.

Actually, in Fruity Loops (FL Studio) 9, you can hear the MIDI instruments while playing.

To listen to the actual instruments in FL Studio (8 or 9), you need the Instrument Bank for each song. These are ripped from the game's ROM with VGMTrans, they usually start with the word "BANK", and you gotta choose the "Save as .dls" option. Then, when you load the MIDI in FL Studio, you need to replace the Default MIDI Pack with the Instrument Bank for the song.

If it sounds like traditional Chinese to you, I can explain it in easier words.

I actually kind of deducted that myself, thanks for confirming it for me though.
Although I could use some help actually finding an MIDI for this song, seeing as it only plays like 3 times...

When you load the MIDI, make sure to open Fruity LSD, and where it says "Roland Default MIDI Set" (or something like that), press the browse button next to it, and locate the .dls file, and open it.

Oh, I don't know about WAV files. You lost me there, I only work with MIDI + DLS.

Sorry, but good luck!

WOW. Actually never knew this. No wonder my fan-made music sounds terrible. Never knew FL Studio could use DLS files. Thanks a bunch!

Forget the WAVs.

If you have midis, then you can use finale printmusic to change the instruments easy peasy. problem is that they cost 150~300 bucks a program. the good news is that this is the age of the internet. take that in what sense that you will. :yuusaku:

meh. it's only like 15 MB, counting the 100 or so instruments it comes with. :tea: Iv'e had sucess with it, until the 40-day trial ran out. hard to do a big project when you cant save or print. :yuusaku:
