I've noticed the games seem to attract a lot of talented artists and cosplayers and the like. Moreso than a lot of other series. It's curious.
Anyone have any ideas why?

Good question!

Because the people who will sit through a game where you don't punch/shoot/cut/rape, ANYTHING would have to have some level of creativity in them.
All you do with the game is read, think, and scream.
Perfect for Artists, Authors, Poets, and all sorts of different things.

AA is such a different game that it attracts the attention of those people.

That and the fact that Female artists like to draw two men humping and found AA to be better than Naruto.

Well, that, and basically anything anime-related has artistic fan. Just take a wuick look at pixiv and you'll se what I'm talking about.

The game is creative in so many ways in itself. Hence, It attracts creative fans.
I think that you also have to be quite open minded to beat the series. I know some people who got bored as soon as it got a little hard. *coughmycousinscough*.Or said "huh? A game about a lawyer? Sounds boring...Got any fighting games?" (not that i don't like fighting games, they're awesome) And also there are many creative fans out there who inspire other people. Like, I know I probably would never have started drawing things or writing stories for fun if I hadn't seen all the amazing art and fics on this site and others. Now my drawings don't actally look like a four year old did them! The writing needs some work though..

Most fandoms are pretty creative ; the number of fanfics you'll find on the Internet is simply mind-boggling.
I wouldn't say this one stands out in particular, but if it is indeed more creative, it probably has to do with the fact that
- the game itself is extremely inventive
- it's text-based, meaning it'll attract people who like to read. People who like to read often like to write as well...
- the characters are quirky and charismatic, making them perfect for fanart
- as for fangames, it's most likely because they're easier to program and because we have tools such as casemakers to help us make them
- I don't have statistics, but from what I've seen, the core of the fandom seems to be female and 15-20 years old, a profile usually more creative (especially in fanfiction in fanart) than that of, say, 10-15 year old males :p

I personally think it's the fact that the game is A) made in anime-like graphic, B) attracts males and females a like and C) requires some brains in general for playing it. It's generally a game that makes you think and has depth in terms of story and characters, so it's no wonder it gets the creative mind jogging~

Perhaps the reason the Ace Attorney series attracts alot of creativity is because it's one of those games where it's testing the player's intelligence in a way.

In addition to that, I think that the emphasis on the characters and their development also have something to do with it. The characters are very lovable and relateable; they have quarks, strengths, feelings, development, and flaws. They also don't follow the standard video game character system that we so often see (perfect protagonist, blatant love romance with companion or victim, obvious detestable antagonist...).

Anyway, since the characters are so lovable and relateable...we don't feel content with leaving them after the game is done and is far willing to expend upon their life in art.

For one, it's a sort of intellect-mystery kind of game, so there's always this little backstory that's never said that you like to manipulate. Second, the characters are all very original and full of inspiration, at least enough to make fanart, sprites and other such outputs from them. Third, it takes a lot of intelligence, lateral thinking and creativity to finish, hence the number of creative players drawn to the game. All of the above answers are correct as well.

I've been away for far too long.
So long, in fact, that all of my signatures now exist behind a paywall.
