Hmm... You should tweak this sprite of Frieda...

Image

...a bit more. At first glance, she looks identical to Maggey, sans glasses. Also, you forgot to shade under her bangs! :moe-laugh: Her chest is kind of lacking in detail, too... As the defendant she'll probably have the least amount of screen time, but that doesn't mean you can get sloppy with the sprite. You're better than that!

Actually All of my Frieda Sprites are Maggey Sans Glasses with a new outfit, It's just more noticeable in this pose. (Fun Fact: her design is actually based on Dahlia's Unused Concept Art.)

I'm really not good at face editing, especially the eyes--which are the most noticeable connection back to Maggey. (It does not help that, as I have just discovered, I saved OVER My layered version of this sprite.) Eh, I'll see what I can do.

The shading under her bangs thing though, That I can defnitely fix.

Okay so I think I've fixed that pose to my satisfaction. (Especially the open-mouthed version which really looked irredeemably like Maggey. :sadshoe: )

Spoiler: More Frieda

I made the eyes a bit beadier, moved up the nose/mouth and put shading under the bangs. (Hurray!)

The chest still looks weird, since the clavicle is unmoved even though she's leaning forward. :P

Okay, I'm working on it.

But! While you wait, I just finished my crime scene photo and I need some advice.

Spoiler:

1. I think it needs to be more photo-y and less screenshot-y, But I don't have any good idea about how to do it. Suggestions?

2. Color, or Black and White?

One quick suggestion, the chair that's fallen over still has some jaggies around the edges of the legs. See if you can sort them out. Also what's that thing coming off the victim, a scarf?

Overall, I'd say it probably works better in black and white!

Brilliant sprites indeed. When I come across these rare gems of spriting, there's nothing much to be said besides what has already been said when it comes to constructive criticism. I hope to see more of your great work in the future!
(Hmm... Park Ranger Mike gave me a good idea.)

Hey guys, I felt inspired this afternoon so I decided to make a super secret sprite of a secret character from my mysterious 5th case for my sprite comic.

In brief explanation: There is a section of my 5th case which takes place as an AAI style investigation in an Orphanage. It involves orphans, who I've been drawing in my free time. And I went ahead and sprited my favorite design.

BEHOLD! Orphan #4!

Image

Ain't she adorable?

Now, this is my first time trying to do an AAI sprite and also my first time trying to make my own eyes, so criticism would be lovely.

This looks a lot like your prosecutor. Is it possible that the last case's section takes place in the past? Or maybe... she's your prosecutor's sister. Hmmm. Wait, this doesn't need spoiler tags, does it? Meh, too bad.

Spoiler: The Mysterious 5th Turnabout
Damn, was it that obvious? (I guess the file being named Orphan Themis couldn't have helped...) :yuusaku:

But yes, there's a section in the middle of the case which takes place in the past. It was going to be more obvious when I finished 8-year-old Apollo.

But yes, there's a section in the middle of the case which takes place 14 years in the past. It was going to be more obvious when I finished 8-year-old Apollo. (It's in AAI style basically so I can use Badd as the detective.) I appreciate the spoiler tags though.

Spoiler: More Case 5
Hah, I never actually noticed what the file was called. It was my just my two cents. But wow, that seems awesome. I wish you luck with that.

Well, she looks pretty good indeed (and, as already stated, she looks awfully like your prosecutor). The only thing I find odd about her is her left arm, because it looks like it doesn't have an outline on the right side. Besides that, no problems.

Well, she does look better, but I had to copy and paste it on paint to see it better. I guess the problem is the forum skin, so that may be why I couldn't see it at first.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

Also~! I finished the second of the Orphans, although this one didn't turn out quite as well. Clearly he suffered both from having a female base and from the more complex pose. Can any of you guys pick out what's bugging me about him?

Orphan # 5 Has a plan.

ImageImage

He's supposed to be looking off to the side, in AAI style, but it came out more as a looking at the audience. :yuusaku:

EDIT: I darkened his outlines. Side-by-side for comparison. Did it help?

He looks pretty awesome, my friend. Very good indeed, and I think he looks better while looking at us. Still, if you want him to look like he's trying to come up with a plan or something, try making him stay the way he is but make him look up, or look to the right side, so it won't look like he's looking at us at all.

I'll likely to have to re-do the sprite When I get further along and have more practice on eyes. But thanks for the advice.

I've also been doing some experimentation with a very specific pose I need for Frieda (along with drawing faces). She doesn't look quite like her other sprites since she's more custom, but I think I'm starting to develop a style. How do you think it turned out?

Frieda's new poses look pretty good, my friend. (I begin to wonder why you need this one spcifically) This "I'm sad, worried, and trying to remember something - all in one" face seems very natural to her design. I wonder how that'd turn out... in an animation.

Well, I've never tried to do one before. But Talking and blinking wouldn't be too complicated. The motion of her hand would be much more of an issue.

But while I ponder that I fixed Sly's Face. I mean Orphan 5. Yeah.

UPDATE! AGAIN.

This second update can be ascribed to procrastination on my History PowerPoint.

ANYWAY.

HF mentioning animation got me thinking and I thought I'd take a look at how it was done since I'd never tried it before. Skip forward about an hour and VIOLA! :violin:

Hum... Quite simple, yet nice. It makes me happy to know that you' ve considered to take my suggestion and begin animating sprites.

(Next sprite: Orphan Apollo?)
