Understanding his hesitance on the phone now, Klavier laughed lightly as he followed Zeth into Phoenix's apartment. "Oh, you weren't interrupting anything," he assured him. "Just sleep. And my solo album SHOULD be finished soon, after I write and record a few more songs, maybe." His expression was soft when he spoke about his music. "But other than that, life has been...a wild ride, ja?" Klavier's face adopted a more serious expression at the thought of the other issues in his life. Well, now wasn't the time to dwell on those. "How about you? Has your life been treating you well?"

Ew, male bonding. "PFT"-ing at the whole thing, Ema shouldered past the obnoxious pair to find somewhere not crowded with Trucy's magic paraphernalia to place her gym bag. "If you had called twenty minutes earlier, you would've been interrupting something." Oh, there was just that joy of rubbing salt in a wound that probably was the size of a papercut, but still existed. Mumbling as she squatted down to sort through her kits, pulling out a small laptop along with what seemed like a myriad of equipment. "I'll need space and time to work with a razor blade, just so you know ahead of time, Gant."

"Alot easy than some of those around me for once," Zeth smirked, glancing towards the lounge as he thought about Phoenix's dilemma, "A pretty set of eyes has flashed into my life though," Grinning, Zeth turned back to Klavier, "See how that one goes, eh?" Huffing at the thought of Yew, Zeth glanced aside thoughtfully, "I doubt she's the type to play keepers though. I guess it's simpler that way..." Drifting off in his mindset for a moment, Zeth wondered whether or not it was what he wanted anyway. No use crying over spilt milk if you weren't going to drink it anyway. IT was best to keep a cool heart than to be distracted by females anyway.

Glancing back to Klavier with a smirk, Zeth leaned on the wall, "This case though, Klavier... I'm not going to force you to take part in this, so keep that in mind. You can still pull out. I wouldn't be surprised if you do." Going closer so he could quieten his voice a bit, Zeth adopted a serious expression. "The man's name is Alexander Kraus, and he's the next heir to the Kraus Group, so he's a VERY powerful man. That's not all of it though." Pausing for a moment, the first part of the speech was easy to understand, but even Phoenix speculated on the second part. He admitted that it didn't look good, but he couldn't back ANY of his accusations up with legal proof, so he just pretended that it was all guess work, "Kraus Group is also heavily involved with a Mafia family, the Abitonara. I'm not entirely sure of the connection, but I gather that the Abitonara are the reason that Kraus Group do so well. Also..." Glancing aside, Zeth's stance became slightly protective, "Kraus is, well him liking women is a front for publicity sakes. In actuality, his preference is men." Glancing back to Klavier, Zeth flushed a slight red colour, "Make sure you don't find yourself alone with him. If you do, and you don't feel safe, then press this." Giving Klavier a pager, Zeth smiled slightly, "It'll page me on my cell phone, and I'll get you out what ever it takes... if you still want to help out." Giving Klavier a greatful smile, Zeth hoped that the deal sounded more of a challenge than a scare, "I don't owe many people favours.. I'll be owing you a big one if you'll do it."

Trucy followed Ema into the living room, looking at her curiously while she set up her equipment. "I'll need space and time to work with a razor blade, just so you know ahead of time, Gant," Ema said, turning to Zeth in the hall. Smiling lightly, a slightly curious look in her eyes, the way she always looks when investigating cases with Apollo, Trucy turned to Ema and asked, "Ema, what exactly are all these equipment for? Won't this be very suspicious in a museum, since there are always people around."

I've been away for far too long.
So long, in fact, that all of my signatures now exist behind a paywall.
Bummer.

Suspicious? Ema snorted, her eyes lighting up as she found a place to set up a small microscope, or at least somewhere to keep it safe for now. Her hands itched to just get to business right now, analyze something, grab answers from some specimen, but nooo. The men were taking their time, it seemed. Huffing as the sound of a light, youthful voice jarred her from scientific fantasy, Ema stood, looking sullen as she usually did, but donning a smirk in place of her usual frown. Science had that effect, it seemed, and she was more than happy to explain. "Skunky here wants me to see if this painting is a forgery or not, and covert..stuff isn't what I'm worried about. Scientifically speaking, microscopic analysis is in order. I'll need to get about four samples from the thickest part of the painting to compare cross-sections, and compare them under UV light for starters! Then we get into the lead ion counting. But before that, GANT," she snapped, the smirk disappearing and a Snackoo thrown at the back of Zeth's head. "I need background information on the painting! Who painted it, what style it was in, what style those painters used to paint in, and when it was made."

"Hey- can you not snackoo me for just a minute, Ema? This is an important conversation." Zeth growled, the serious undertones of the conversation making him a little touchier than normal. Phoenix rested himself over the back of the couch, watching the conversation. Waving his hand to Ema and Trucy to come back, he thought it best to summon his 'daughter's out of the way of the conversation they were having.

"Zeth's task for Klavier needs a bit of a debrief, Ema," Phoenix advised, "It's a bit of a tricky assignment. If you want though, I may know enough about the painting to help you. It's name is the Angel star, and it's apparently 1 of 2 paintings done by an artist named Osterzone. They're the featured painting painting in two separate galleries," Pausing a moment, Phoenix smiled, "But according to your client, one is a fake. Interesting, huh?"

"I know that. Science requires attention too." Well, to be honest, Ema really DIDN'T know what Klavier had been told earlier on the phone. It probably didn't matter as much, in her mind, the forensics could never be trumped by whatever foppish job Gant had in mind. God, combining the two of them was like a hailstorm of flimmery, foppery and stupidity. At least Mr. Wright seemed to have an IQ over 50. Whipping out her notepad to scribble a few lazy notes, the painters name and the like, Ema paused to cross her arms. "What year is the painting from, then?"

Klavier spun the pager between his fingers thoughtfully, a small smile temporarily flicking onto his face at Ema's sudden snackoo. So, he had to talk to a gay man? That should be...easy enough. Depending on how forceful this Alexander was. Pocketing the pager, he crossed his arms loosely before smiling at Zeth. "I can do that," he started. "And I'll probably be able to...cope for a while, if I end up alone with him at some point."

Of course he didn't particularly want to be hit on by a man, but this was a challenge he couldn't pass up. Get information and get away from the man before either having a powerful man ruin his career or the same powerful man getting him into bed. Ahh, Ema would find this either funny or extremely stupid. "What information do I need to get from him, then?"

((What's Klavier wearing? Something that wasn't his prosecutor clothes? It'd be good if they were his normal rock clothes cause he wont be as easily identifiable as a prosecutor.))

Smiling, Zeth could tell Klavier had never encountered Kraus before now, but that was probably a good thing. He could see that Klavier's casual nature along with being a fresh new face was going to bring out the charm in Kraus as well. He did have charm when he needed to, he had to admit.

"We need to know about the painting," Zeth started thoughtfully, "How they got it and such. We know that the picture was made by Osterzone, and it's called 'The angel star', and it's a sister painting to another exhibiting in New York. Anything on top of that would be useful. After that, it's icing on the cake." Pausing for a moment, Zeth thought about what other useful thing Klavier could find out, "Um... if you can find out what he is doing in the next month, that may help too. If he tells the truth of what he's doing this is..." Pausing for a moment, Zeth really wanted Klavier to go further and develop a relationship of some sorts so he could find the blackmail Kraus had on him, but he couldn't ask that. That was asking too much. He was just going to have to get around it by finding something bigger to blackmail him on. Sighing, Zeth closed his eyes for a moment to recollect, finger combing his hair back, "I'm sorry, normally I'd do this kind of thing by myself, but Kraus... lets just say that we have history. I'd rather you didn't mention my name to him." Opening his eyes again, Zeth gave Klavier a greatfull smile, "Is this all ok? If you have any questions, feel free to ask them. I wouldn't want you under prepared."

Seeing the grateful smile on Zeth's face, the challenge Klavier had been given seemed even more appealing. It seemed that this really was a big favour to Zeth, and the added bonuses of a challenge and the opportunity to do something exciting only heightened Klavier's itch to get going.

"Sounds fine. So," he said, counting down on his fingers as he voiced a recap. "I need to meet with Alexander Kraus, get information on how they obtained the Angel Starr, get any other information on the painting, find out what the group may be planning in the next month and get him to trust me enough to tell me all of this. Ja?" Grinning with the anticipation, Klavier brushed his bangs away from his eyes. "Where can I find him?"

"So, uh... You're from a village? I don't remember being any villages around here..."

"Kurain Village, where I grew up, is quite a way from here. About two hours by train, I think.... It's such a beautiful place but very remote- we don't even have electricity." Pearl smiled, feeling far more comfortable talking about something she knew well and loved.

As they turned the corner, Pearl spied a pretty building on the left hand side of the road and guessed from the display of cakes and pastries in the window that this must be Wocky's bakery.

"Oh, it's lovely!" she exclaimed, a hand flying to her cheek as she took it in. She'd never really seen many shops, even now she lived in the city and the excitement of being out with someone who wasn't Zeth or Ema to somewhere she'd never been before was wonderful.

"T-Thanks, I guess", Wocky said as Pearl looked at the display in the window, "My mom decorated the shop... My dad isn't really the best with that kinda stuff."

He then opened the door for her and said, "Guess you've never seen anythin' like this, huh?"

They then walked inside. There weren't any customers inside, or anyone at the counter for that matter, since the staff were on their lunch break.

"Everybody's on break", Wocky said, "Guess they'll be back later."

He then asked, "So, you're village don't have no electricity? That's kinda crazy. I don't think I could live there... I live in a mansion, so being in a place like that would be too different for me."

"That's not enough," Ema huffed, sitting down to Mr. Wright, the only guy in the room who actually seemed to have an IQ above 50 at the moment. Addressing him now, and snatching the laptop [hoping it didn't slip and fall--Ema didn't have the best luck with technology. "For instance, my lead ion counter test. Lead paints were outlawed back in the 1970s, so any paint containing no lead is definitely modern. That's why I need to know when it was painted, well that, and the art style. Let's see...Da Vinci was an impressionist. Scientifically speaking, the paint would be layered and shades mixed since the rest of his paintings were consistent! We might run the paint through a chromatograph after. I'll perform some more tests to examine my samples more closely, but it looks like the Skunk doesn't get that UV light testing has to be done in darkness. Someone could hack into the power grid like in all those movies, I guess... "

Zeth relaxed completely, finally being able to rely on someone around him to do a job because they WANTED to, and not because they were paid. It made him more confident that he'd do the job correctly the first time without blowing his cover.

"That's right," Zeth grinned, "Sound like I made a great choice asking you to help! It's not often I ask for favours so I was a little worried I admit. There's one of two places he'd be if you haven't seen him at the precinct here. If something REALLY is going down at the gallery and there's heat there, Kraus will be at the gallery, or at his model agency. I should find out."

Pulling out his cell phone, Zeth held the phone to his lips and said, "Bebop," firmly. The phone speed dialed an encrypted line, and started ringing.

"Having a tea party, Zed?" The phone answered with a laugh, "it's unusual for you to be at a residential residence this time of day. Usually you're on the hunt, or at the Alto." Zeth chuckled, glancing to the phone,

"This is where my new detective agency is based, you moron. Peel your eyes off GoogleMaps for a second and look at the address I gave you for the firm." The other end of the phone paused for a moment before giving a realizing laugh,

"Oh right- you work with that Wright guy, don't you? I hear you're surrounded yourself there with hot chicks."

"Be careful what you say, Bebop," Zeth grinned, not sure if Klavier could hear the conversation at all, "One of those 'hot chicks' has Klavier as a boyfriend, and he's standing in front of me right this second."

Bebop paused for quite a while as if in shock before finally replying, "You detectives get to meet all the cool people. It's so unfair. Can you get his autograph for me? Damn secret identities..."

"Yeah, sure," Zeth replied , "I'm sure Klavier would be more than happy to sign something for you. I'd like to get this deal over with Kraus first before..."

"Kraus?" Bebop responded, "If you're dealing with him, you must be going after that Angel Star picture. I just KNEW you'd want in on that! I wish I made a bet on it now with V..." Zeth raised his brow in interest,

"Why? You got beef on this deal? Klavier has agreed to go talk to Kraus for me," Zeth replied, glancing up to Klavier as he spoke, "If there's anything else he could get from him easily, it'd be great to know."

"Hey, I'm not an oracle, Zed. I don't have a crystal ball. All I can see is digital hack. If you want information out of him, you're going to have to go to Hart Studio in town. He's doing a photo shoot there for some new Jockey advert they're making."

"Underwear... again?" Zeth face palmed, "And why does he never do European brands? It's always American ones. I'm sure that they'd love to have him face something over there that required more clothing." Sighing loudly, Zeth removed his hand and tried to adopt a smile, "OK, so he's killing two birds with one stone then. I'll get an autograph off Klavier for you later."

"No problemo, bro," Bebop replied, "And tell Klavier to be gentle with Kraus. He just had a 'major break up' with that daughter of that gallery owner in Times Square. Engagement and all this time. The paps were stalking him for a month or more on that scandal."

"Oh really?" Zeth replied in interest, "What was the girl's name?"

"Rochelle Riche," Bebop replied, "A real knock out too. I wish he had given her my number..."

"Thanks for the tip, B," Zeth grinned, "I might see if I can get Klavier to look into that. Shouldn't be too difficult considering what she did."

"What are friends for?" Bebop replied, "TTYL."

Hanging up the phone, Zeth chuckled, glancing back to Klavier, "Kraus is at Hart Studio doing a shoot for Jockey. My informant suggests you ask about Rochelle Riche, his 'ex fiancée'. He just had a major break up with the broad. Turns out her Pa owns the gallery the other Angel Star is theoretically on display at." Grinning, this breakthrough was feeling good. He kind of felt that this was ALMOST worth a trip for him to talk to Kraus about it too. This was all stuff that Klavier could weasel out of him given the right words though.

"That's still alot you can do," Phoenix mused, "Is it worth taking a print of the paintings off line with you? And what is the frame like. That may help you." Trying to think, Phoenix hummed to himself, "The UV check could be interesting though, cause to scan it, you'd have to break and enter. I wonder if there's some other way of taking the painting aside for a few minutes to test it without disturbing the gallery... Karmi- have you seen anything unusual on the map you have there?"

"Hm," Ema tapped her foot thoughtfully, rising to pace and wear a hole in his carpet and probably litter the thing with Snackoo crumbs. One such Snackoo made it across the apartment and into the back of Zeth's head. The words 'boyfriend' and 'Klavier' indicating that he deserved some sort of pain. Other than that, she didn't have bat hearing, and Science was fogging her mind too much for her to pay too much attention. The frame? It didn't matter so much, only the fibers embedded in it from the canvas. "If its the original frame. Otherwise, I'm concerned with the paint. I can do the UV lighting THERE, all I have to do is hold my light up to it. And bam! Science will show me if it luminescent or not! Luminescent paint indicates more modern stuff, and usually a copy. I'd just need either a good distraction, or the lights turned off for a few seconds. So, I really need to know what DATE it was painted in, and what nationality that Ostrich guy was."

"Hmm..." Karmi hummed, twiddling a pencil between her fingers.

There was an area circled on the map along with another one. She seemed hesitant for a while before she boxed another.

"I found the hidden stairs Zeth was talking about," she referred to a circled portion, "but judging from this blueprint, there seems to be another flight of hidden stairs here." She traced her finger along a narrow passage that passed behind the main gallery to the other circled area. "This one, though, I can't figure out," she said, tapping the boxed area with the end of her pencil. "It seems to extend beyond this blueprint. A tunnel, maybe?"

[I'm just randomly trying to add more mystery now. I'm free to edit, of course. XD]

"Well, It's a double leveled building, so perhaps they just lock it off when it's not needed," Phoenix said thoughtfully also looking at the blue print, "It's difficult to tell where the Angel will be with this layout. I assume if there is an underground basement here that it'll be concrete lined, so I assume that there's only one way in." Pausing, Phoenix turned to Ema, "Ema, do you have anything for seeing if a wall is hollow?"

Klavier could hear a majority of the phone conversation, his face splitting into a grin at the prospect of even more information to try and get. This was most definitely sure to be a challenge, and Zeth might even try to put up with Ema a bit better as an indirect favour for him. "Hart studio?" The name sounded familiar. Perhaps he'd had a shoot there before for someone? He couldn't quite remember.

"Sounds good, Herr Gant," he said, clasping his hands together in anticipation. "I'll go over there now then, ja?" Klavier was itching to get going, and he slipped the pager into his tight pants, sure to position the button facing outward for easy access. He took a step towards the door before pausing. "Ah, wait. Do you have my cell number?"

"No I don't..." Zeth lied, flicking out his cell phone. Of course he had Klavier's cell phone. Mostly incase Ema had any issues at work, but he also gathered alot of prosecutor, detectives, and lawyer's details when he arrived in the country. Klavier's phone was on file. It didn't hurt to make sure his number was still current though. Being famous, he likely had to change his number every now and then incase fan girls got ahold of it. Flicking open his cell and opening up the address book, he started a new entry.

"Achtung," Zeth said into the phone when he went to set up speed dial, "Alright, fire away."

"If you wanted to be a barbarian," Ema started, with a sidelong glance at the stupid Skunky Gant, "you could just knock on it. Otherwise, scientifically" She started again, donning that trademark smirk as she crossed back to her bag. "I DO have something, I made it a while ago. Check it out!" Rather proud of the seemingly abstract machine she'd just picked up, soemthing that looked like a small PDA. "Hm. Why isn't the laser working?" She frowned, unable to present her own design with pride. A ha! There it went, a rather obnoxious beam of red quite litereally singing a bit of the carpet it was aimed at. "Oh. Whoops. Sorry, Mr. Wright, let me turn that down." Giving the thing a few whacks, she pointed to it proudly. "If it has blueprints and an address, this thing acts kind of like GoogleMaps, creating a formal 3D reconstruction, with roughly the same technology as crime scene scanners, except more like an interactive map. From there, I can assess by what's on the walls where a hollow spot is. Studs, not screws, that kinda thing. Aside from THAT, it can just scan the wall in front of it and sense the density. I originally made it to...visit Mr. Edgeworth, but thats not relevant right now."

Klavier reeled off his cell number by memory, flipping out his own purple phone and opening up a new contact similarly. He didn't set up a speed dial as Zeth had done, because he didn't exactly plan to frequently call him. The only people he had on speed dial were Ema, Daryan and Kristoph. Well, now only Ema, because the other two had their phones taken off them. "And yours?" he said to Zeth, snapping himself out of the potentially distracting train of thought.

((Zeth has a fancy phone-- the only thing he WOULD spend lots of money on for himself. It has a parrot system on it where you say the person's name and it dials it. I guess it's not speed dial... Just voice recognition? Zeth is too paranoid for anything less XD His phone would have encryptions to boot XD ))

"Sure," Zeth nodded, rattling off his redirect number- a number he used that caller IDed the caller even on a private line, and could do a signal trace. He rarely gave up his true number now days as he had to change numbers so often. scrawling on his touch screen with his fingernail a bit, Zeth brought up the address for Hart Studio, "It's just down the road from the gallery, so if you want to come back and say hi, hopefully our investigation is done by then." Showing Klavier the address, Zeth gave him some time to memorize it before dipping himself into Klavier's field of view, "You DO have an excuse for walking into the studio and talking to him, don't you? Perhaps you know someone at the studio? I'm sure you would've gone there atleast once for a Gavineers photo shoot. Hart studios is the most well known in the area after all... Do you know Lotta Hart by any chance?"

Flipping his phone shut and back into his pocket, Klavier grinned, his eyes flicking to Ema briefly. "Oh, no worries Herr Gant. I have the perfect excuse to need to talk to Lotta, ja?" He had been planning on confronting her for snapping a picture of he and Ema on their first date. Not necessarily taking the picture from her, but questioning how she'd known they were there in the first place. Hopefully, Kraus should come to talk to him, but if that weren't the case, Klavier could always strike up friendly conversation.

Pausing to consider, Klavier shook his head as if ashamed of himself for his bad manners. "Of course, I'll stay for a bit. Then we can make our way in that direction together, ja?" Sauntering over to the rest of the group, he slumped down onto the end of the sofa, leaning his elbows on his knees to peer at the device in Ema's hand curiously. Following the line of where the device was pointed, he spotted a singed hole in the carpet and his face broke into a smile. It seemed this was one of Ema's homemade pieces of equipment.

If the fop ended ONE more sentence in 'ja', she was going to aim that laser at a certain part of him that would have him singing falsetto for quite some time. "Don't gawk." She spat, taking a step or two away from Klavier's glimmerous self. So, maybe it was a bit awkward to go on a faux date with a man who wasn't her 'significant' [PFT] other, but he had his own secret little mission he wasn't saying anything about. "I -might- just mess up the settings again. When are we leaving, anyways?"

Turning his eyes away obediently, Klavier's lips twitched into an involuntary smile. "Whatever you say, fräulein." Of course, his eyes were drawn back to the strange device in her hands before he looked at her. She had that familiar...gleam in her eyes. The one she got when talking about or doing science. It was almost offensive how science was the only thing that could make her look so happy. Almost, but not quite. People had to understand just how much science meant to her, of course.

"Not immediately," Zeth admitted, but I can always come back later and set up bugs if I knew where the hollows were. It'll give a better idea of the actual size of the building because..." Looking at the blue print, Zeth smirked, "This was tampered with post submission of the blue print. This building is physically smaller than the actual building by a mile, but if they don't require building modifications, then noone would've picked up on it." Thinking for a moment, Zeth turned to Phoenix, "Wright, how is your daughter with pulling large scale magic tricks? Like cutting the power to a building?"

"Not sure," Phoenix admitted, "How would you be with that, Trucy?"

Trucy mulled Zeth's suggestion over for a bit, and finally said, "That'd be a big, but easy, trick to pull off, if I knew where the power switch was. Then I'd need a bit of preparation time, but...It'd be fun!" she said, smiling with an innocent, proud look on her face, that she always has at the beginning and end of her every performance. "Of course," she added, "there might be guards or somebody where I pull off the trick, so that could mean I can't do it at all, but if anyone can distract them long enough, it should be fine, right?"

"Hrm..." Phoenix said thoughtfully, "Just to be sure, you're not going to DAMAGE anything, are you? Hurt anyone? You realize there will be panic?"

"That's what Trucy is there for," Zeth grinned, "She's more than capable of making a distraction while Ema and I grab the evidence we need from the painting. That's all we're interested in right now. Obviously, the plan will change if the circumstance does." Chucking Phoenix an earpiece and mike cable, Zeth pointed to his ear, "If you need to talk to me, push the button on the earpiece and speak. I'll give you the new game plan then."

"OK then," Phoenix smiled, putting the ear piece in his pocket, "So, how are we getting there? Klavier only has room for 1 passenger, you could take another, but I only have my bicycle... not alot of room for passengers on that!"

"Heh," Zeth smirked, "No wonder you can't get girls, Wright. Doesn't your daughter have a bike she'd can ride? I can take Karmi then, and Ema can go with Klavier. Problem sorted."

Klavier sprang to his feet, clapping his hands together and rubbing them with anticipation. This was going to be an interesting day. "Ja, let's go." Walking past Ema, he swept the handheld device from her as he followed Trucy to the door. He inspected it curiously, already grinning as he predicted the abuse that would probably be hurled at him soon.
