Spoiler:
First of all, I have to say that Rory's ponytail looked absolutely ghastly (seriously, blokes shound not be sporting ponytails, as it just makes them look terrible)!

Anyway, I have to say that this was the least enjoyable Dr. Who episode yet (It's all a dream - seriously they can come up with a better premise for an episode than that!). Also, I have to say that with the exception of the Dalek and Vampire episodes, that the new Dr. Who hasn't been as good as previous series - and I have to say that Matt Smith isn't that good a Doctor (definitely not as good as Tennant or even Eccleston were).

I agree with your view on the latest episode, but I completely disagree with your view on Smith and the series. I'd say it's the best new series yet, and Smith is one of my fave Doctors.

I'll be posting my review of the eppy later.

Yay I'm from Australia too!

Spoiler: Spoiler tags for length and I dont know if what I;ve written is spoilerish or not..
I recently re-discovered my love for Doctor Who after watching it the last 2 Sundays. The Weeping Angels one was awesome! (smoochy time at the end was hilarious) I was really sad that I had to wait a whole week to find out how they got out of the trap though, heck, I'm sad that I have to wait a whole week between episodes. It's the only show I look forward to watching now...ignore the geekyness of that comment.
At first I thought I wouldn't like Matt Smith as the new Doctor but now I love him C: (The last time I watched it David Tennant was the doctor)

VAMPIRES IN VENICE ON NEXT WEEK!!! Looks scary!

The Hungry Earth:
Not much to say on that one. It was just set-up. Albeit very enjoyable set-up. Matt Smith gave a cracking performance. Silurians were cool from what was shown, but didn't get to... "spread their wings" enough in this episode, but I imagine that'll be saved for Part Two. Cliffhanger left a bad taste for some reason. Looking foward to Cold Blood, though.

Um, I dont really like or dislike that episode, it was rather mediocre in my eyes. Seeing as its a 2-parter they left it for the second part, which of course I cannot wait for.

i felt that this weeks episode was a lot better than the one we had last week. I was disappointed that the Silurians didn't actually do much though (although they'll probably kick off in Part 2).

The Hungry Earth: Not bad, not the best, but as a lead up, pretty okay. Smith's Doctor was brilliant as always, as was Amy (though she didn't get much screen time) and Rory, who's already proving to be better than the Mickey Smith of Series 1 in numerous ways.

Not a fan of the new Silurians design though, a bit too humanoid. but the Doctor did say they were another branch of the family, so I guess evolution must take place at different rates. :D

I must say, I loved the line "Oi! Don't diss the Sonic!". :edgy:

Looking forward to next weeks!

The planned design for the new Silurians was shown on Confidential earlier:

Cold Blood.
Spoiler:
Meh. It was decent. Nothing spectacular, just ARC BUILDIN'.
Shame the Silurians' potential as a villain remained mostly untapped.
Rory's death was a tad anticlimactic too. He'll probably be back, mind.

Spoiler:
That was the best episode since the Eleventh Hour for me. It was bloody fantastic! What's-his-name's death was the most gripping moment of the series by far, and seeing a damaged piece of the TARDIS received from the crack was chilling. The whole episode was very tense itself, especially the aftermath of Alaya's death. A massive improvement upon last weeks, and on par with the Eleventh Hour.

Just a personal ranking of all of the stories so far:
The Eleventh Hour = Time of the Angels/Flesh and Stone = Amy's Choice >>> Victory of the Daleks (much better upon re-watch) > The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood = Vampires in Venice > The Beast Below (lost something for me upon re-watch).
I've enjoyed all at different levels, mind.

Am I the only one who didn't like the Hungry Earth/Cold Blood? It felt like watching a bad fanfiction that is morally ambiguous at best.

Spoiler:
The sympathetic portrayal of Ambrose infuriates me especially. I couldn't help but side with Restac throughout Cold Blood. The Doctor should have had a neutral role, but somehow the way the writers keep positioning him as the champion of humanity no matter what.. it's irritating. The Silurians aren't the daleks for gods sake... These episodes felt incredibly racist to me. BAH.

Also, I'll miss Rory. He was the antidote to Amy and the Doctor. /sob

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn?
But that's alright because I like the way it hurts

Fear Her was far, far, far, faaaaaaaar worse.
And according to some set reports, those aren't the only monsters to be appearing.
Spoiler:
All of the other skittles Daleks, Cybermen, a Sontaran, an Auton, Silurians, Weevils from Torchwood, Kudlak from SJA, a Weeping Angel and a Sycorax have all been spotted.
Oh yes, and River Song, young Amy, a Stone Dalek and Rory in Roman Soldier armour.
And I thought Journey's End was a fanwank!

True about Fear Her. XD

I really hope Moffat can do this right. If he does, it'll be one of the best Doctor Who episodes of all time. The last time there was a collection of monsters of this level was Dimensions in Time and that was terrible, a waste of 5 Doctors. But it looks like this really will be epic. And fantastic. :edgy:

But what the hell are Torchwood's Weevils doing there?!

I watched ToA/FaS online but then decided I'd rather see them on the big TV. It's really hard, waiting all week :( But my brother is constantly using up all our bandwidth so I can't watch video for like half the month anyways xD

http://tv.blinkx.com/show/doctor-who/2E1_GPqp3el_l_9E <---This site is great.

I laughed out loud when in Confidential they were going on about how Big and Colourful and Chunky the new Daleks were and how it made them so much more SCARY. Honestly, the Daleks weren't even scary to begin with and now they're fat, plasticky and come in all the colours of the rainbow. Yeah, scary. Sure.

I want a Dalek drink dispenser ;A;

Yeah watching on TV is better I agree, but I'm too impatient to wait. In fact I watch all my shows online XD;;; *used to it already* Ah, boys. >_>;;

That is a good site C: I watch mine here->http://www.doctorwho-episodes.com/watch-doctor-who-episodes/doctor-who-series-5~

lololol Daleks are ridiculous. But they're the pet monster of the series, so it'd be sad to see them go. A makeover once in a while is good too. I hope they have equally colourful names... like, Bob. Bob the Dalek > Bob the Builder.

Sorry 'boot that. It's released worldwide next month, natch, so you won't have to wait that long for it.

Anyway, Vincent and the Doctor:
Vincent and the Doctor.
Spoiler:
8.5/10
Well, that was lovely. Not perfect, or really sci-fi-ish, but some sweet, character based drama. Only complaint is the ending sort of felt like the ending dragged on a tad. Oh yes and the monster's death was abrupt. But other than that, that some nice emotional stuff, without the melodrama, which is good.
Show stealer was Tony Curran as Vincent van Gogh. Totally bought that he was a tortured, misunderstood genius. Probably my favourite performance of this season next to Toby Jones' Dream Lord.

I was like "AWESOME! A Dr. Who game!" And then I saw it was only downloadable in the UK. And Australians will possibly have to wait months for it :( Pity usssss...

Couldn't agree any more. Everything you've said there, including the rating, I agree with.

At the risk of sounding over-enthusiastic...

Vincent and the Doctor: 10.1/10!!!

Spoiler:
Possibly, IMO, the Blink of 2010. The whole episode was absolutely fantastic, and somewhat reminicent of The Unquiet Dead. The invisible monster was a great concept, Matt and Karen on fantastic form, as was Tony Curran as Vincent van Gogh, three of the best performances of the series. The story itself was powerful, emotional, and beautiful in places, and van Gogh's depression was handled brilliantly, especially in the bedroom scene with him crying. The last 10 minutes were the best, seeing Vincent's reaction to the praise, and Amy's reaction to his fate being unchanged. IMO, the best of the series since The Eleventh Hour, and rates as my 2nd favourite of the series. :edgy: Gatiss, take note- this is how a historical figure should be included into Doctor Who.

It's funny because on Doctor Who Confidential Gatiss commented that you shouldn't go too heavy/in depth with "historical celebrities".
And that is why Vincent van Gogh was done a lot more well than Winston Churchill. Seriously, Mark, you're a coo' guy and all (after all, you wrote Unquiet Dead), but I am going to slap you if I ever see you.

I want to see it! D: It's rare that an ep gets an unanimous 10/10 vote, can't wait!

Yay! Dr Who tonight!! Hungry Earth sounds pleasant from the reviews I've read, so I'm looking forward to it. And apparently something really shocking happens in Cold Blood and it is an unmissable episode. I'm tempted to just watch them both online.
