Oh my god. That is perhaps the most wonderful piece of fanart I've seen. Thank you so much!

Anyways, about the chess game, I never quite figured that one out, but it was my intention from the very beginning not to display every single move, and skip most of the beginning and middle of the match - there will be some chessing yet, though I might not be able to figure out the end position.

You're very welcome! I'm glad you like it!

EDIT: Scratch that. How did I NOT NOTICE an update?

Spoiler:
Hm... Looks like the Baron Castled at some point during the game. Tsuki's playing it fairly open, but it looks like this ploy has left her with an enemy piece behind her line of defense. She'd better close this fast. (On the other hand, she has a significant piece lead, so Baron von Schmurgenbodiehtn;lsjk's comment it mysterious.

This has now exhausted my knowledge of chess.

Still like using the game as an allegory for the situation though

Spoiler:
Well, in some cases trading a piece advantage (Like a Queen vs. a Bishop) for a position advantage (Like leaving his king open) can be a strategy in an endgame. But I don't think Tsuki can carry through at this point unless she works quickly. She's gambling a bit with the move.

...which further details the situation allegory. :grey:

Spoiler:
I suppose... But I usually choose piece advantage over position advantage myself. I can force a position advantage if I have piece advantage, and giving up a piece would most probably make the position advantage a temporary advantage.

I can't tell what the pieces are, so maybe this move gave Tsuki checkmate in 1 or something xD

It looks like Tsuki can check the king with the knight, but it doesn't really help. :/ Yay... Greeny's back!

Spoiler:
Narratively speaking, I think that Tsuki is unlikely to win this match. And furthermore, the end of the match will cause a cliff hanger so bad that there's a flashback back to the "How we got here" stuff.

Or that She will win and it will have a similar effect. Just speculating, of course.

Pft. I too am rubbish at chess. But I learned at few of the rules during a passing phase of interest. (And a bit of strategy from listening to my acquaintance.) Notice how quickly I have switched to "Narratively speaking."

Greeny wrote:

Truth.

EDIT: HOW DO I KEEP MISSING THESE UPDATES?

Spoiler:
Tsuki won with a rather risky King-endangerment ploy. Don't worry, the loss works well with his position at a seasoned chess player. It's well constructed as an example of hubris getting the better of him. And Tsuki using crazy non-standard chess.

Well, I want to say that it's a very good comic, which has developed very far. I was really happy to hear that it continued.

Still there's one thing I don't understand. I don't understand the checkmate with the king. Isn't he the one who can only move one space at a time? :eh?:

Yeah... the king can only move one space. In this check, the king is being checked by the rook, while the white king is preventing the black from moving into the only square it could possibly go. It's quite a neat checkmate.

Plus, there's a pawn there stopping the king from moving.

And good to see this returning! Keep up the good work.

...How exactly is the King one of the most powerful pieces? :eh?: Oh well, it's over! Yay! :D I couldn't tell what was going on since all the pieces look relatively similar from a top-down view, especially at that size, but the dialogue was clear enough that I was able to follow along the general direction, so it's fine :3

Well, in the endgame, the king is the most strongest and important pieces. Meh... I wonder what's going to happen next now.

It's more that in an endgame, the King can be utilized to its full potential in combination with other pieces. Combining it's qualities as bait and protection, it's often very effective in checking after most of the pieces are cleared off the board.

I know that in the endgame it can be useful, but I still wouldn't call the king "one of the most powerful pieces". And if the engdame has cleared away enough of the pieces, then "one of the most powerful" out of two or three, it's not like it needs to be that powerful...

Okay guys, honestly I WAS going to update right now but uh...

GIMP blew up on me. As in, it doesn't even start up anymore. All of my FE data is stored as layered gimp files so yeah, that's a problem. One I can't fix soon, I believe.

To Mr. Pezman, I mostly edit existing backgrounds so I don't really have a say in it.

Great comic Greeny! I've been a fan for awhile, but haven't been reading very much lately <.<

I only just recently caught up, and I gotta say, I'm very impressed!

Sucks to hear about GIMP though v.v
Same thing happened to me awhile ago <.< I think it was my crappy computer though (I don't really use GIMP that much so I didn't really care XD)

Good luck with fixing everything!

I posted about the issue briefly in the ROTP thread after I got a PM back from him, but he's what he had to say on TO:

Quote:
I should probably get back to work myself, but the files are on a hard drive I can't access yet and I'm not sure if I don't want to maybe continue FE as a visual novel instead, seeing as I've been busy in that sector.

Well, according to his profile - Greeny's last visit was four months ago. ...Another thing is, if you check - a lot of the comic pages are gone.
That one guy from AAO that made about a dozen cases that all kinda go off the deep end and fall apart at one point or another.

UPD-

haha just kidding.

Francis Equitas is discontinued forever.

I know, I know, and I'm super sorry. But I just could stand not having my own IP anymore.
Other reasons include: Case 4 was always a bit too ambitious in terms of custom spritework, Me being a lazy ass, Dodgy plotlines, Me not even having played any new iterations in the AA series, It's just kinda too old to pick it back up again (5 second rule), Me being a goddamn lazy ass, FE didn't get me laid.

Now I'm doing Visual Novels. In fact, my first project, and incidentally, my first official non-copyright infringing work, is now available for download! It's a gameplay-oriented work. If you like puzzles, this is for you!
http://gliese.vnovel.com/?page_id=55

Oh, that's right, I have a website now. If you're interested in seeing more, you should totall-
wait this forum had some rules about plugging, didn't it? I forget.
Oh well.
gliese.vnovel.com

Will be doing commercial works too. You know, because I'm big. And I'm corporate. And I'm a... uh, thing.
My next work will be more story-oriented. It will be a lesbian romance sci-fi thing. Trust me, it's not what it sounds like.
Oh, and after that I'll be starting the first episode of a linear murder mystery thriller detective series.
Think FE, but without all the copyright infringement. And with vampires. Uh, again, not what it sounds like.

Also, I realize a lot of FE files have been lost. Will be digging them up and posting them as downloadable zip.

Whew. Well, that basically covers everything.
I'd say my rise from the grave is hereby completed.

Well, I finally got around to it! For those of you who want to re-read the comic, I've compiled all the pages into one handy zip:
http://www.mediafire.com/?qp3h6plvlcqmtpa

Also if anyone's interested in more, I jumbled together all my files from all my work here, completely free for use!
Includes all my sprite work, WIP files that might provide insight into my methods, the incomplete script I'd written up for case 4 and a TrucyxApollo fanfic I only vaguely remember writing. Fun for the whole family!
http://www.mediafire.com/?cz7rsca9bwwvaht
And I've also got the original XCF files for Francis Equitas comic-making!
http://www.mediafire.com/?c7l9w8tktat55hi
In fact, this is basically all anyone needs to make their own Francis Equitas comics, for which, as of my retirement, my permission is totally given.
You could even complete case 4, ha! Except I never actually finished the script. Improvise, whatever.

Have fun, children. I need to go feel sad about this abortion.
