Update (07.01): Added Japanese weekly chart for GT's second week.

Update (06.25): Found two new videos, courtesy of GameTrailers!

Image

Ghost Trick was released less than a week ago in Japan, and we already know how many copies of the game were sold. The following figures concern week 24 (June the 14th - 20th). Which means, the game had only been released for a few days when this chart was made.

Quote:
2) Ghost Trick : Phantom Detective (24 000)

This may explain why the game sold only '24 000' copies, but it except Mario, it's not much different from the other game of this chart. Anyway, this isn't really surprising, as Ghost Trick is a brand new franchise (as opposed to the Ace Attorney series, already quite famous). Besides, the game doesn't really cater to the mainstream, so... Anyway, 2 days really aren't enough to say whether a game sold well or not.

The rest of the top 10 :

Quote:
1) Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Nintendo (WII) 53 000
2) Ghost Trick : Phantom Detective - Capcom (NDS) 24 000
3) Art Academy - Nintendo (NDS) 21 000
4) Xenoblade - Nintendo (WII) 21 000
5) GTA IV : Episodes from Liberty City - Rockstar Games (PS3) 21 000
6) Tamagotchi no Pichi pichi... Bandai Namco NDS 17 000
7) PES 2010 World Cup - Konami (PS3) 16 000
8) Friend Collection - Nintendo (NDS) 14 000
9) PES 2010 : Blue Samurai Challenge - Konami (PSP) 13 000
10) Hakuoki : Junsouroku - Idea Factory (PS3) 13 000

***

Ghost Trick's sold 20.000 copies for its second week:

Quote:
1) Monster Hunter Frontier Online - Capcom (360) 93 000
2) Love Plus + - Konami (NDS) 84 000
3) Atelier Totori : Alchemist of Arland 2 - Gust (PS3) 54 000
4) Tokimeki Memorial : Girl's Side 3rd Story - Konami (NDS) 52 000
5) Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Nintendo (WII) 42 000
6) Hatsune Miku : Project Diva - Sega (PSP) 29 000
7) White Album: Tsuzurareru... - Aqua Plus (PS3) 26 000
8) Starry Sky : In Spring - Asgard (PSP) 22 000
9) Ghost Trick - Capcom (NDS) 20 000
10) Art Academy - Nintendo (NDS) 20 000

***

What's more, we also get two new videos and a bunch of new pictures, courtesy of Nintendo! You'll find them all at Nintendo's E3 official website.

I know, those are a week old, but I don't remember seeing a thread about those, so I decided to include them in this one.

***

And GameTrailer posted two new trailers for the game (actually, there's only one trailer, the second video is a TV spot), though both are in Japanese. You'll find them here and there :)

Looks like fantastic sales for a brand new IP.

Here's hoping it does as well worldwide, it's shaping up very nicely.
Does we even do these things anymore?

I've never seen animations so smooth....

Whether it actually sells well or not, #2 out of all games, not just DS ones, is pretty darn good.

Second place for a new series? That's pretty darn good, especially if it's only been out two days. Hooray for the genius of Shu Takumi!

I'm not getting any sound on the E3 Video.

Second place in the charts is still good for a new game. I still want to know why we have to wait a whole year, when it looks like the translation is about half way done.

Damn, that's impressive. An entire new series losing only to a MARIO game in it's first 'week' of sales is really impressive, especially since it's not considered to be 'mainstream.'

It's not just you, I thought that too, coming from the same crator and all. Didn't seem like a coincidence.

Well, the game is supposedly taking place in the very same universe as the Ace Attorney series. Though, I think the two characters aren't Phoenix or Payne, as they had a different name in a video I posted a few weeks ago... but I might be wrong...

Where do people keep getting this idea that Ghost Trick takes place in the same universe as Ace Attorney? The only source I've been pointed to talked about a "turnabout" but that hardly means anything. That said, have there been any cameos other than "Missile" and the two people who look like Phoenix and Payne?

Impressive, indeed. Either it was because it's Capcom or because of the GS fame, but either way, good job!

Hopefully Ghost Trick gets its own section hear at CR when it comes out here!

Because of that:

Quote:
When ONM asked if there was any crossover with Phoenix Wright, he replied:

"There already is!

How can there be any cross-over if the two games don't share the same universe?
That does not necessarily mean we'll go to places from the AA series, though.

I know there probably won't be anything PW related outside of maybe a few references, (if anything at all) but it's still awesome to hear.

"Crossover" could mean anything! When I read that (that was actually the article I was referring to before), my first thought was that they were referring to "Missile" and the cameos.

Second week, and Ghost Trick almost dropped out of the chart this week. It was still the 9th best-selling game last week, with 20.000 copies, which is 4.000 less than what it did last "week" (= 2 or 3 days). Guess all the new games that were released last week in Japan did not help GT a lot!

Quote:
Quote:
9) Ghost Trick - Capcom (NDS) 20 000

Here's the complete chart for last week:

Quote:
1) Monster Hunter Frontier Online - Capcom (360) 93 000
2) Love Plus + - Konami (NDS) 84 000
3) Atelier Totori : Alchemist of Arland 2 - Gust (PS3) 54 000
4) Tokimeki Memorial : Girl's Side 3rd Story - Konami (NDS) 52 000
5) Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Nintendo (WII) 42 000
6) Hatsune Miku : Project Diva - Sega (PSP) 29 000
7) White Album: Tsuzurareru... - Aqua Plus (PS3) 26 000
8) Starry Sky : In Spring - Asgard (PSP) 22 000
9) Ghost Trick - Capcom (NDS) 20 000
10) Art Academy - Nintendo (NDS) 20 000

That is something we're considering, but it's not set in stone yet (at least not until after I've played it - I ordered a copy but it's backordered, bahh). Dunno if we'll decide to have a forum section, mini-site, both or neither. It might depend on what activity is on the AA front by then.

I already played Ghost Trick (Japanese ver.).

Spoiler:
But Ghost Trick didn't take place in the same universe as Ace Attorney.

My guess is that the interview that got the idea going was probably just a slight mistranslation of Takumi's words - maybe he meant to say that he was going for a similar style as the AA series? :shoe:

I don't know, but I'm quite relieved it's not the case. I was not too hot about that 'shared universe thing', though I really believed it would be the case, with that interview.

And man, just realised (once again) we'll have loads of time to wait until the game's released. *sigh* :larry:
