Also he once said he likes his greenish coat which makes him look like a buffed up Police-Man.I am aware of the fact that he got at the end of T&T a new coat from Maggey but I think he wears it because he got it from Maggey

Yes, AAI is after T&T. But if you're talking about the ending to T&T, we don't know for sure "exactly" when those events take place. We can probably assume they take place before Black April since Maya is still talking about being Phoenix's assistant, which gives a span of mid-February to April. AAI takes place mid-March, so I think it's possible Maggey gave him the coat after AAI.
Of course, a simpler explanation would be that he likes to alternate coats... or just wear the new coat on special occasions.

Perhaps he has some memories associated with his green coat, and therefore does not want a new one even if he could afford it? Gumshoe seems like the type of person to have the same lifestyle even if he won the lottery. It will forever be instant noodles for breakfast.

I seem to remember Maggey saying that she preferred the scruffy coat that he had before to the new one she gave him. This was followed by Gumshoe saying that he would dirty up the new coat for her... but my memory is pretty bad, sooooooo, yeah...

I used to call him Gumtree, 'cause it was one of the options when Phoenix first met Gumshoe, and the game asks you to choose his name XD And since he kept on calling me (Phoenix) "Harry Butz", I decided to call him the wrong name on purpose too.
But lately I started calling him Scruffyshoe, I think it sounds kinda cute.
