The 4th Major AIGE Update: The Expression Evaluation Update! (AHLSL Update 01)

Added command evaluateexpression that will evaluate expressions in the infix format (eg: "x=4+y^(2-8*k)"). The function can be used on conditions (if, while, etc) directly as well.

Supported Operations: +, -, *, /, ^, %, ==, !=, >, <, >=, <=, ||, &&, =

--------------------------------------------
About the site: it may take a little longer to return since it seems No-IP is down.

There is a guide planned for PWLib 1.2 named PWLib Unleashed.

----------------------------------
I'm considering a new approach for PWLib 1.2 upon the end of the Beta: release public "RC" (Release Candidate) versions before releasing a final version. This will allow people to use the power of the new AIGE (and PWLib) while testing and giving feedback.

Also currently I'm focusing on AIGE to fix issues and make the engine stable for new features.

I've been busy with some new games (Alien Swarm) and the new pc (able to play some games in max quality), but in the meantime I had a couple of ideas to optimize AHLSL Compilation (thus reducing the startup speed for PWLib). I may be working on those soon, as well on a big fix/optimization on some other components.

Hey, I don't know if this is just because I'm code-illiterate, but...

I'm trying to get through the tutorial for PWLib, and I can't get AIGE to run my tutogame script! I included the game function, but it's saying that it doesn't exist. I've done everything right, or so I thought...

Can someone help? :sadshoe:

are you sure you have included your text script on the startup script..(located on scripts/startup.aigehls)

for example, this is my code
Code:
//    This program is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify
//    it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by
//    the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or
//    (at your option) any later version.

//    GNU General Public License for more details.

//    You should have received a copy of the GNU General Public License
//    along with this program.  If not, see <http://www.gnu.org/licenses/>.

//This file is the entrypoint file for any AIGE game: startup.aigehls
//First we include the game's starting script
#include(apollo.hlsl)

//Just like most languages, an entrypoint function is defined. In AIGE HLSL this function is [main]
//You're not obligated to put the main function in this file, but it is recommended to do so.
[main]
//Render and Process System Events to protect not found scripts
render();
processsystemevents();
//We are jumping to the function game that must be present on the game's files. (using runscript here isn't recommended)
jumptoscript("game");

see code below the line "First we include the game's starting script".

thats my script which include the 'game' script.. hehehe..

so the point is you have to include your text script.. just like I do, so AIGE know where is your text script.. hehe..

hope my explanation help.. and not too complicated..

The issue I'm having, and I'm going to quote exactly what the pop-up menu is telling me...

"Script. Warning. Couldn't jumping to script "game" because it couldn't be found!
scripts/startup.aigehls:25
when running in primary mode
main:jumptoscript("game");"

and I quote.

I can guarantee you that my tutorial game's code goes exactly like this

After including pwlib, I put in brackets "game".

So where have I gone wrong? Why can't it find it? Is there something wrong with my inclusion?

Alrighty. Thanks so far.

Alright, and here's my beginner tutorial code. I had a larger one last night, but deleted it in the effort to try again...
Code:
#include(pwlib/pwlib.hlsl)

[game]
runscript("pw_initpwlib");
waitresponse();

I've followed the tutorial up to this point. Is it because I don't have enough? Because the error I'm getting seems to point to a "jumptoscript" problem. :yuusaku:

I think the problem you're having is that AIGE can't find the "game" section. The most likely reason is that your tutogame.hlsl is misplaced. Make sure it's inside the "auto" folder, that should do it.

It was an added requirement to 1.1, I believe, so it wasn't added to the PWLib In A Nutshell tutorial, since this one was made for PWLib 1.0.
The next tutorial book, PWLib Unleashed, to be released with the final version of PWLib 1.2, will include this indication, though.

Anyway, did my solution fix it, MadameEvelyn?

When PWLb 1.0 was made (and the tutorial book as well) AIGE was 0.9.200/250. By that time, the only entrypoint for AHLSL scripts was the function main on the file scripts/startup.aigehls.
When AIGE 0.9.700a was released (PWlib 1.1), the "Automatic Script Loader" was added, thus all valid script files placed on a folder (auto) were automatically loaded. As messing around with the startup file can cause issues, the auto folder was an idea to make AIGE's script inclusion easier.
On AIGE 0.9.800a, the auto folder can be defined to any folder via configuration. As well the entrypoint file and function are defined on config. Also n PWLib 1.2, the entrypoint is pwlib_main, and the startup file is inside pwlib core.

Basically:

PWLib 1.0.x Series: need to edit the startup file.
PWLib 1.1 Series: can use auto folder instead of editing the startup file.
PWLib 1.2 Series: editing the startup file is not needed (and not recommended), auto folder still works, added Game Lister (new recommended way).
PWLib 1.2 Under Development

I have just recently found this case maker, and I really want to learn how to use it becasue the demo looked really amazing. But I have a problem. While I wanted to go on court overview and play the sound, "sfx-gallery.wid", the sound does not play during my test, I checked everything and I am 100% sure the coding is right, but just to make sure, here it is:
Code:
[scene2]
runscript("pw_showattorneystand");
runscript("pw_enableemaunsure");
message("what?");
stopmp3(0);
setvar([sld_targetcharanim],"pw_enableemanormal");
runscript("pw_slideattoneytowitness");
message("done");
setvar([sld_targetcharanim],"pw_enableemamad");
runscript("pw_slidewitnesstoprosecutor");
message("done2!");
runscript("pw_showattorneystand");
setvar([sld_targetcharanim],"pw_enableemaunsure");
runscript("pw_slideattoneytoprosecutor");
message("done3!");
setvar([sld_targetcharanim],"pw_enableemasurprised");
runscript("pw_slideprosecutortoattoney");
message("done4!");
setgenobjgraphic("pw_crowitness",7000);
setgenobjgraphic("pw_crojudge",7001);
setgenobjgraphic("pw_croprosecutor",7002);
setgenobjgraphic("pw_croattorney",7003);
runscript("pw_showcourtroomoverview");
loadandplaysfx("sounds/sfx-gallery.wav",0);
wait(180);
runscript("pw_hidecourtroomoverview");
loadandplaysfx("sounds/sfx-gallery.wav",0);
runscript("pw_showgavelhit");

The "sfx-gavel" works well, but the other sound will not sound. Please help :sadshoe: .
PS: I have tried the code:
Code:
stopmp3();

And that did not stop my music, I have done many googling and I saw the code you have posted in this thread earlier:
Code:
stopmp3(0);

And that did not work either. Sorry for all this problem that I am asking for answers. :bellboy:

Blazingphoenix, look down at my example, it should help.

Code:
loadandplaymp3("music/Phoenix Wright 2 - Great Revival ~ Franziska von Karma.mp3",0,"F");
stopmp3(F);

Define with any letter where "F" is at except O. O is used to play your mp3 once.

That "0 (zero)" said from the tutorial "when mp3 system get support to more than one mp3 at once, it will be used to define the channel."

Code:
loadandplaysfx("sfx-gallery.wav",0);

Remove sounds. It should automatically load it from the sounds folder. It did for me.

Woah, thanks Radex, that helped A LOT. I've been thinking why it wouldn't work for the past 8 hours. Thank you! :will:
People tell me to skip to the next tutorial, but what's the point if my game wouldn't have any important sounds!

Ahaha.. Another question.
I don't really get how to add the save/load function.
Anyone learned how to add the save/loading thing to your game? :yuusaku:

Code:
runscript("pw_enablequicksaveload");

F6 is save.
F7 is load.

But it's quite glitchy, unless I didn't implement it right. :yuusaku:

Aha, I tried that earlier, and I thought there was a better way to save, but I guess not. Thanks. :edgy:

Yet again, another question, lol... No surprise if the guy with this custom title would say that.. About the "Turnabout" button graphic thing, how do I put the button there? I put the name "case1.png" because I was looking through the codings everything and it said
Code:
[load_episode]
definevar([pw_loadimages],"string");
setvar([pw_loadimages],[pw_episodepath]);
appendtostring([pw_loadimages],"case");
appendtostring([pw_loadimages],[pw_episode]);
appendtostring([pw_loadimages],".png");

I thought it was would work if I named my picture case1.png but there's still no picture.
