After sending the telegram, Rodger returned to the table, and saw everyone was quite jovial. He smiled uncomfortably and had a look on his face saying, 'What did I miss?'

Rich gestured to the nervous man who had just joined them. "We're just introducing ourselves. Apparently we got a journalist, surgeon, and PI here. I'm the PI. Now, does anybody know where the windows are? I haven't had a smoke in 20 minutes and I really need one."

Drew nodded as two others introduced themselves and their professions, and also explained how they met Professor Smith. At that moment, another friend of the professor who, she remembered, had gone off earlier to page his housekeeper of sorts came to the table, and Brooks explained their short discussion. Then, asking where he might smoke, Drew replied, "The windows are just across the room, but I doubt you can open them, else you might let in the cold."

Rich groaned. "Great, just great. Nowhere to smoke, being stuck with a bunch of intellectuals..." Noticing the angry stares from across the table, Rich sighed. "Ah, forget it..." Taking a swig of wine, he turned to the man who had just returned and asked, "So, who are you anyways?"

"Ahm... I'm Rodger Hugo. I'm co-owner and barkeep at the Cyprus Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon." He smiled again.

"I.. ah, as you can tell, am a man of few words. Back in Stratford, they call me the Quiet One." He laughed a bit and sat back down. Ready to continue the enjoyment of good wine and good company.

((Eeep, sorry for the delay guys! Been a bit busy as of recent.))

Dominic sat in his seat, keeping to himself. He could never bear speeches. To sit still and not have an input was one of of his, lets say, less favoued pastimes.
He wasn't normally like this at all. He decided to introduce himself to a small group of people nearby, who he could only assume were going on the venture as well.
"Hello, Dominic Merryweather 'ere, but most folk jus' call me Dom. You can do the same, I reckon. The professor, ol' chap, built him a bookcase. Been firm friends since that day, aye.'

'Well, I guess the polite thing to do would be to ask for yer' names.' He continued, before sitting back into his seat.

Drew took note of the name and profession of the man, who had introduced himself as Rodger Hugo. Then yet another guest approached the table, presenting himself as Dominic, or Dom, Merryweather. "So he made a bookcase for the professor?" she thought. "He must be a carpenter then. His skill could be useful on such an adventure, if needed." Afterwards, Drew turned back to Dom, saying, "Well, we've already introduced ourselves earlier, but I'm Drew Colin, a surgeon."

'Surgeon, eh? Hrmm, Interstin' Indeed. Just like yer' name. Drew fer' a girl...isn't that a boys name?' Dom asked, rubbing his chin.
As his usual self, Dom wasted no time in being polite about her, to what he thought, unusual name.
'She seems nice enough to me.' Dominic concluded in his head, before yawning and looking around. He hoped somewhere along the line manual work would be needed.

Rich snorted. "Typical. People thinking people's names reflect on them, like how my nickname is rich, but I sure as hell ain't. In the same vein, you assumed that the name Drew was mostly used by men, when it is actually a fairly common unisex name. Y'see, it's assumptions like that which get people into trouble!" After that rant, however, Rich calmed down and sighed, traing a pattern on the table cloth. "Umm... sorry for snapping at you. I don't especially like being around people, especially when I don't have a smoke, so I tend to go into... whaddya call it? Oh, yeah, withdrawal."

"Rant much?" Willow said after Rich finished ranting. "Anyways, nice to meet you all." She tapped her fountain pen on the table.

"It's nice to see Julius still is stubborn as ever in his ideals." She gave a slight smile.

Drew smirked as Dom remarked on her name, but was quite surprised at Rich's response to the comment, seeing as it wasn't even directed at him. Hoping to end the matter, she said, "Never mind, I'm used to such comments by now. I'm even amused sometimes when a person who's heard of my name discovers that I'm a woman only when they meet me in person."

Sighing, she nodded when Willow said, "It's nice to see Julius still is stubborn as ever in his ideals." Drew responded, "Indeed, the professor was always determined to get what he wants, once he puts his mind to it. Though this time, I'm a little bothered by the fact that we have to obtain artifacts that the owners aren't willing to give. It is their property, after all."

Rich sighed and took another sip of wine. "If he wants us to get these artifacts, he's probably got a good reason for it. Besides, he already said that it was legal, just that the process is probably gonna be a bit difficult. It does seem suspicious, but I trust him. And what reason is there not to?... Although..." And here Rich looked down at the table, an expression of worry on his face, "I'm afraid that he's hiding something from us. Did you see his expression earlier?"

"Yeah... that's an expression of fear and the hunted." Willow gnawed on her pen in worry. She frowned. "I guess we'll see soon what will happen. But that little flash there isn't usual for Julius. But anyways, about these items... what are your thoughts on them? They are classified as the occult, but why would Julius be concerned, even if he said it was perfectly legal? Something's up here." She sat back in her chair.

Rodger nodded to the newcomer. "I'm Rodger Hugo, innkeeper and bartender at the Cyprus Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon", he then looked to Rich, and studied him for a moment. There seemed to be something bothering him. He reached into his jacket pocket. In it he had two gifts from Ian, two useless things. A very expensive Cuban Cigar, and a new tinkerer's toolkit, with very expensive goggles. He was quite thrilled with the latter, but had no use for it. He wondered if he could use the Cigar to entice Rich outside so he could talk to him

((Does Rich like cigars?))

((Yeah, Rich will smoke anything, but likes cigars the most, because they're the most "manly" thing to smoke.))

Rich pondered the question for a while. "Well... you could chalk it up to the artifacts being part of some ancient tribe or something. They'd probably think that taking the artifacts would lead to some sort of retribution by spirits or gods or whatever, which means that they'd resort to anything to keep them. They are savages... Alternatively, I'm pretty sure that whatever artifacts he wants to get would sell for a lot on the black market, which would make him a target for smugglers. Still... Nah, it's nothing."

'I see, Drew. Pleasure ta' meet ya' n' all.' Dom said, smirking, before he tured to Rich.
'Just before ya leave, I wanna say tha' rant was...Interestin'. Ya' seem to like to speak ya' mind, like me. Seems ta' me we could either be deadly foes or firm friends...lets keep it the latter of the two, eh?' He said, before sniffing loudly.

'I reckon these Artifacts should be some part o' ancient wizardry. I'm no beleiver, but I can't help agree with Willow. I can't shake the feelin' tha' somethin's not quite right aroun' here...'
'Tis possible the items are like, somethin' tha' don't even exsist...could this be a test of our will to find somethin' that don't even have a place on this fair earth?

Slowly shaking his head, Rich turned to Dom. "Something that shouldn't exist? No, my man, I'm afraid I'm not one for superstition. I don't like what ifs or buts. I like having concrete evidence in front of me. What you guys are talking about is speculation. I mean, these artifacts would be really important to Julius' work, but that doesn't mean he's gonna mess around with something I shouldn't... Ack, but what am I saying? I'm rambling here." At this, he let out a little chuckle. "Point is, if these objects we find do in fact exist, then they're meant to be there. No ifs or buts."

Drew listened as each presented his or her opinions on the matter, then nodded as Rich finished his. "Exactly. I know that we all have to trust the professor on this but...even if it was legal, it's theirs, savages or not, and we have no right to meddle in their business. It just doesn't feel right that Julius, determined though he is, would go to such extent, but..." Drew stopped, knowing there was no point in trying to express more than was already stated.

"Well, we all agree that something just isn't right. I suppose we'll have to keep watch, then. For everyone's sakes.

Rodger nodded along with the conversation until there was a lull. He turned to Rich.

"Say ahm... Rich, is it?" he reached into his pocket and pulled out the Cigar.

"Well, I was wondering if you'd like to step outside for a moment, I have here what I am told is one of the finest Cuban Cigars produced and is quite expensive. It was a gift from a friend, but alas, I have not the heart to enjoy it. I prefer a good stiff drink over a smoke. Yet, I figured a man like yourself could be able to enjoy it."

He gestured to the doors of the banquet halls, awaiting a response.

((Okay, I'm back. I know you're having fun hanging out, so I'm sorry if my rushing the plot ruins anything...))

The rest of the night went smooth. The group had become friends. That night and over the next few days, they learned about each other and began to find them trustworthy, at least trustworthy enough to work together on the expedition. They took in the sites and made friends as they wated for Julius to confirm whatever he was confirming. Life was good. There are few ways life could get better.

But it all came crashing down. On the 10th, everyone wakes up in their London hotel rooms, steps outside, and grabs the paper to find two stories.

Spoiler: Man Dies Three Times in One Night
THREE BODIES IN HOTEL, EACH MAN CARRIES SAME IDENTITY. Three slain men were discovered as Mr. Mehmet Makryat, of 3 Brophy Lane, Islington. Each had been stabber through the heart.

Maids at the Chelsea Arms Hotel discovered the remains. The room also was registered in the name or Mr. Makryat.

Bona fide papers identify the trio as one man, the Mr. Makryat who is a Turkish antique dealer doing business in this city. The victims bear superficial resemblances, and each had passed as Mr. Makryat since independently arriving in London three days ago.

Confusingly, the real Mr. Makryat, or at least the man described by neighboring shopkeepers as Mr. Makryat, cannon be found. Polic request that he come forth.

The passports of these Turkish nationals record independent world-wide travels for each man over the past three years.

Inspector Fleming of Scotland Yard is at a loss to described the meaning of the bizarre mystery, but is eager to converse with any other Mehmet Makryats still living.

Spoiler: Professor's Home Burns, Fears For His Safety
Professor Julius Arthur Smith, a figure well-known in academia, was sought today following the burning of his home under mysterious circumstances.

Missing also is Dr. Smith's manservant, one James Beddows. Witnesses saw a man resembling Beddows run from the house just before the fire broke out.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Dr. Smith or Beddows is requested to contact Dectective Sergeant Rigby at Scotland Yard's Arson Division.

As you all try to comprehend the situation, you notice a letter slide under the door.

"Come at once. I haven't long. For God's sake let no-one follow you. J. A. Smith." On the front of the card is an adress in the low-class area of London.
Child of Lida_Rose and Aliucon. Married to yuzikichan0! Father of Ha³ and Apollo72.

'Hrmmm...' Dom said as he flicked through the paper.
'Three deaths in one night? Interesting...I'm not even sure what to say to that.' He said, flicking through more stroies. None of them paticularly caught his eye, until...

'Whoah, guys, check this out!' Dom said, pointing to the headtitle, 'Professors Home burns, fears for his safety.'

'That's not good.' He said, stating the obvious.

((Uhm...Im going to wait for everyones elses reactions to the stories before we say the letter has slipped under the door...that okay?))

((Well, I'll say that it happened all at once to me. Oh, and is the Chelsea Arms Hotel the hotel we're all staying at, or another?))

As morning dawned on the bustling city of London, Drew smiled, waking up in the small hotel room which she had been staying in, similar to other rooms which her new acquaintances and fellow friends of the professor were staying in as well. Deciding to read the daily newspaper before heading off to breakfast to meet her companions, she went out the door, fetched the paper, and walked back inside, seating herself on the soft armchair. Then, she stared in shock as the headlines struck her.

'Man Dies Three Times in One Night,' the first one reads, and she quickly skimmed through the lines, and went on to the next article, which frightened her even more. It said, 'Professor's Home Burns, Fears for his Safety.' "Could this be...?"Drew thought, as she continued reading, and discovered that the professor mentioned was the same Professor Smith that all five of them had met only days before.

Just then, Drew noticed that there was a small envelope by the doorway. Fearing that it may somehow be involved with the mysterious events that had just occurred, she approached with caution, and opened it, to find a note written by Julius himself. "This is his handwriting, I know," she said, and once she had read its contents, she immediately changed to more appropriate attire and packed the few belongings that she had. Locking the door as she stepped out, Drew walked along the corridor and found Dom also reading the paper. Managing a quick "Good morning," she asked, "I suppose you've also seen the news?"

((Yeah, I'll go with both things happening at the same time.))

Rubbing his eyes sleepily, Rich sleepily tied a bath robe around him and prepared to head out for a quick smoke (the windows in the hotel were TINY), when he stepped on two pieces of paper. Browsing through the papers after reading the main headline ("He died three times? What kind of ludicrous crap is this?" muttered Rich), his eyes widened in shock as he read about the Professor. "Oh my god. Julius, what kind of hole have you dug yourself into now..."

As he said it, he opened the letter from Julius, his worried expression just became even more worried, eyebrows furrowing deeply. "Julius..."

'Yeah, awful stuff. The Professors home burned to cinders...seems far more suspicious than nesacerry...' He murmured, before picking up a letter near his door. HE hadn't noticed it before.

'Hmmm...Drew, you have any idea what this letter is?' You must have gotten one too...' He said, after reading the words that lay inside.

"Yergh..." Willow flicked through the paper. "I can't believe it was true after all... Should've believed the boss last night..." She worriedly said to herself as she headed for the door leading out of her hotel room. Then she slipped on a piece of paper and came crashing down on the floor.

"Ow... what was that? I don't recall being that messy..." Willow picked herself up and noticed what she slipped on.

'A... letter? From who?' She opened it and noticed the sender's name. 'Oh, Julius, what have you dug into now?'

Rodger had been awake for a good while, always having been the early bird. He had taken the paper earlier in the morning, but had not given it a real once over. Finally sitting down on the couch in his hotel room, he flicked through the paper. He then read the two articles.

"Oh no... oh... no, no no!" He stood up and ran out the door, to see if anyone else had heard the news, everyone seemed to be having the same impression he was, but there was also something extra. All of them appeared to be looking at a letter. He looked around and noticed the smallest bit of paper sticking out from underneath his doormat.

He picked it up and read it through, it was short, and the handwriting was shaky as if frantically written. Rodger looked back at the newspaper and noticed the other notable story about the man dying thrice... he wondered if it had anything to do with the letter. He gave a quick nod to the others, and headed back into the hotel room to quickly get dressed.

((Crimson, at some point I believe the conversation Rodger and Rich had should be referenced, and it's effect on them, perhaps in a flashback?))

Hurrying back inside his room, Rich quickly changed his clothes and rushed back outside, screaming at the top of his lungs. "Guys! Guys! My god, have you seen the news about the professor?..." He stopped suddenly, and sighed. "Oh jeez... I'm afraid for him..."

"Be quiet, Rich. I just got up okay?" Willow grumpily said as she rubbed her head with one hand, while in the other, there was the paper and an envelope from Julius. "And yeah, I saw it. I was told about it by my boss, but I didn't believe it. Maybe it's about time I took this seriously. Did any of you-" She suddenly quieted. "Let's talk about this in private, I don't want anyone else but us to hear what's in the envelope."

'We should discuss this in one of our rooms, away from Prying eyes, like Willoe suggested. Give me a moment to get dressed an' we can talk about this properly.' Dominic continued, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
He walked back into his room and quickly got dressed into something not entirely formal, but not too casual...he didn't know what he was going to do today, so he couldn't dress for the occasion. So he sort of made a half-hearted attempt at making himself look smart, then stepped out again.

'Where will we talk about this...?' He asked everyone

((Aagh, this is what I get for being across a few timezones. But whatever, guess I'll have to [like I wasn't already] get used to it.))

Drew shook her head in response to Dom's question. "Still, I suppose I understand its instructions," she said, "unclear as they may be. One thing is sure, though: this is Julius' writing."

Then the three others went out into the hallway, apparently encountering the same startling revelation that they've found, as they expressed their shock. When Willow said, "Let's talk about this in private, I don't want anyone else but us to hear what's in the envelope," Drew offered, "I suppose we can stay in my room, if you all agree." Then she went back to the room, fiddling for the key in her pocket, and unlocked the door, seeing if they'd accepted the invitation inside.

Bummer.

'Okay then Drew, yer room it is.' Dominic said, nodding politley at her.
'I'm sure you other guys have no objections to this, do yer...?' Dom continued, looking around. Other guests were starting to wake up at all the commotion.

'We better hurry up. Ladies first.' He said, standing beside the door.

"Thanks Drew." Willow followed her into the hotel room. "It's kind of funny how all our rooms are the same, save for our things." She took a seat on the bed, which was as fluffy as hers in the other room. "C'mon, we haven't got all day to discuss this."

Rich stepped inside the room and sat cross-legged on the floor. "So... what do you think of all this? I mean, I can't understand what's going on at all. It's pretty odd, but I'm sure that whatever is going on can be explained."

'Hmmm...I agree. Everything has to have a rational reason, right? Stuff like 3 men dying of the same identity on the same night is certainly NOT a coincidence.' Dominic said, finding a place leaning against the wall.

Drew followed the rest inside, and kept the door slightly open for Rodger. Then, going back to the conversation, she nodded. "Plus the fact that Julius' house was burned down on the same night, and just this morning, a note to all of us by the professor himself," she added. Taking a tray of cups to the table and pouring them all still-warm coffee she'd prepared earlier, she then said, "I have a suspicion that the answers to all our questions lie with the professor, but before we proceed to this address on the note, we might as well discuss anything else suspicious, or that needs be said."

After dressing, Rodger exited and locked his hotel room. He was about to leave when he saw the door to Drew's hotel room was open. He figured the group had left it open for him. He entered into the room quietly and took a seat on a chair in the corner, not wanting to draw attention to himself.

"Well... Drew... the weirdest thing is the murders. It's perplexing and I don't see much of how could it have happened. I mean, a man dies three times, has three seperate corpse, all possibly looking the same, and yet the original person is missing? This doesn't demand a reasonable explanation, except this man had three brothers, all the same age, build, with the same facial features, and yet, this theory does not merit any reasonable solutions. I mean, what are the odds of this happening? And right after the conference."

Willow asked the group.

"Well, they could have been quadruplets, or something. Other than that, though, I got nothing." Rich sighed and took a glance out the window. "There's no other explanation that makes sense, really... But, that's besides the point. What I'm wondering is what the heck does it all mean?"
