Hi and welcome to my sprite topic (:

I am still new at this, but I wanted to show what I have already done at this point

EDIT: I have added a bit better versions of trucy and Adrian Andrews.
(look in spoiler tags "Recoloring" and "Trucy without her hat")

Spoiler: my first edit to character(updated)
Image
I used DeKiller's body and Larry's head, a little recoloring around the neck and voila =]
but now I have gotten rid of the little bit of skin under his beard

Spoiler: Recoloring
Image
I recolored Adrian Andrews' clothes in green and purple
Image
The purple one went a bit wrong whie saving... I'll try to fix that

No fix yet on the purple one, but I worked on the green one:
Image
Note the sleeves and I put a ring on her finger (a bit too little maybe)
I'll work on the tiny details later, because I still think the sleeves are a bit off.

Spoiler: Trucy without her hat
Image
I made the head a bit different and added more shades of brwn in the hair for more detail, but don't consider this my final version yet!
Image

Spoiler: OC updated
Image
my first OC. That was the first creation.

I worked more on it and made it like this:
Image

And I made a recolor of it, but that's not the final one
Image

Spoiler: My try at older pearl
I know it's something most people probably did, but I wanted to try. Just for practise :pearl:

At first I was being a little too easy :redd:
Image

Then I thought to make it a little bit more diffucult for myself (with figuring out how to use tools)
Image
I think it worked out quite well :phoenix:

Spoiler: headswap
Image
:pearl:

Spoiler: OC (maybe for future fan project)
Image
This one took me a while to make, but I thought of it at school when I had no homework left :P

Spoiler: NEW OC Hayden
Image
I know his mouth looks weird xD
I just saw it :3
I'll fix it ASAP! ;)

Spoiler: (new) Child Mia
Image

Spoiler: attempt at older maya
Image

Feel free to leave a comment :pearl:

Hello there. I love the Larry sprite. Although, I'd recomend you to get rid of the white background on it.
Also, recolouring's a serious business, I know, but it's always better to try and add something new to an old sprite, you could add sleeves, for example.
Ah, hatless Trucy. Not going to lie. It needs some work. First of all, her hair is too short/ she's got a flat head. I'm not very good at explaining but it's all about proportions, you see.
And you could play with color hues.
I mean, like this.
1.The main, darkest colour of the hair.
2.The color that is a bit brighter. (thin line between the previous color and the next)
3.A bit more bright. (same here, only a thin line)
4.The brightest.
(I fail at explanations)

These sprites are pretty nice nontheless. :butzthumbs: Keep up your work!

Edit: I am very sorry if I sounded rude, it wasn't my intention.

well first of all i would like to suggest not saving in jpeg format since it ruins sprites.
go with png instead

next I would like to make my usual suggestion of keeping away from AJ sprites until you've got some experience in spriting since these are more detailed then pw
its up to you where you start but just an opinion.

finally about the trucy...her head a tad flat id reccoment raising it possibly 2 pixles up...then again im just going by eye here :P

anyways keep at it. :godot:

I like the Larry DeKiller thing, he looks pleased with himself.

Actually the main colour of the hair is more likely to be at least the second darkest rather than the darkest. The darkest will be the shaded bits like the underneath or something I think. I dunno I can't remember.

I didn't think it was rude =]
I am still new at the spriting thing and I learn from comments like that =]
so thanks for the comment!
I am still editing the sprites.
When I uploaded the pics I noticed the white background too, and I am going to change that as well.
I have a lot of free time so I'll spend it a lot on these things :maya:

I noticed it when I was busy with Trucy her hair. The details are much much better and that makes it hard to add something to the sprites =P

I'll edit her head pixel by pixel and I hope that it'll become better xD

I'll edit my first post with the edits of the pics as soon as they are ready :phoenix:

I don't really have anything else to say than what has been said already, but it's certainly good for your first sprites. Though I'm still new to spriting myself :D

Yeah, the sprites from the DS games, and everytime I try something with AAI sprites I fail, it's just too detailed...

Oh, I spotted an error on the Larry one, under his beard there's some skin that should not be there...

I edited my first post with newer versions of the pics

I just noticed an error in my newest Trucy (her heart-shaped bag is colored black... oops :P)

And I am working on my Larry with the skin under his beard.

Great Sprites, but as probably mentioned above, you might want to save as a png. file. What program do you use?

I am currently using Paint.NET v3.5.5
And I am currently saving in PNG now, but the first ones were in JPG so I think that already ruined the quality a bit, but I'll keep improving the pics as much as I can :pearl:

Paint.Net is the program I use, and I find it the best to use the Wand tool, and then Hue & Saturation, but yes, jpeg. does ruin quality, and with these sprites, it sucks that their like that because they're awesome.

I can always try to make them again but then the right way :)

And thanks for the tip.

I am really new at this (I started a week ago) so any tips are welcome =]

I have tried to make an oc, but it still needs work.
But I am putting it in my first post anyway =P

I just tried with the magic wand, but I have to practice with it, because I suck at it at this moment xD
with the other sprites I only used pencil and color picker, but it's a lot of hard work with the intense zooming and pixeling it xD

I recommend changing the tolerance of the wand, and you'll get used to it. It's hard at first, but we all come to get that one moment of ''F%cking Finally, I finished this sprite, and DAMN! it looks good'' I'll look forward to your future sprites :phoenix:

I am starting to get the works of the magic wand (:
I have been busy with my first week of school after nine weeks of doing nothing xD

I have worked on my OC. I made the hair a little darker and I changed the eye color.
But I'm not quite satisfied with the hair yet
Image

And thanks for the compliment :pearl:

Hahaha, I also just started school. On the hair, I suggest going a little lighter with black. I guess there's a rule around here about not using black as a color because of detail, so I would go with a dark brown (if that's possible) or a lighter black. Hope this helps :redd:

I changed the hair color with brown and I think it's a lot better! Thanks for the tip! :maya:
Image

I also made the same but then a little different with colors and stuff but still the same hair color
(The black lines around the dress will be changed)

Image

I'm still not very satisfied but I'll keep improving it :pearl:

This dress has a lot of attention to detail, and the hair looks awesome! Good Job, and on the bottom one, ditto.

These are all great, but I think the top one is the best. It looks like a possible GS5 Pearl, just add the right textures (GS4, and AA:I Textures), and it should look awesome.

If you don't know how, just open up a AA:I or AJ sprite with matching colors to the Top Sprite, sample one of those colors, and trace over the texture of the PW:3 base sprite.

Thanks =]
The middle one was actually the one I started with (recoloring Iris) and then I changed the hair, until it became like the top one =]
I am starting to get the hang of al lot of things now =]
I'll keep busy with the textures and when it's finished I'll put it on! =]

I see the improvement, and great texturing. Too bad that Capcom couldn't do the texture lines right, and we have to fix it

It has been a while since I last updated but I have been very busy with music performances. which have been finished for a while now (although I am in 5 bands and that means I have to practise 5 times a week xD)

Anyway, here is an edit of Ema Skye:

I still have to get rid of the black lines, but that will come later since I am on another computer where I have no program I can use to do that properly ( I miss my own computer :edgeworth: )

Hey!

Another update, this time with an OC

Spoiler: NEW OC
Image

Now all there is left with this sprite is maybe improve it and then I'll try to animate it, but since I haven't done that before, it'll take some time :P I'll first have to find out how it actually works!

Maybe I'll use this one for a fan project I have had in mind for a very long time :maya:

Your new OC isn't bad, but it is pillow-shaded. Pick a defined source of light and try to shade from that.

Well, Paint.net actually doesn't support animation...

If you want, you can search up a member named Percei, and click on his sig. He has a great animation tutorial using GIMP in a link. But, if you want something easier, try UNFreez.

Download unFREEz. As long as your frames are lined up properly it's just a simple case of drag and drop. You'll need to save each frame as .gif too.

It's much quicker than Gimp.

EDIT: But if you want to do it in Gimp, you don't need to do a search for Percei hahaha it's the second sticky thread here, called Need to know how to make sprites?, the last link in the first post.
