Um... would you mind if I took a look at the .psd file of your GK2 Edgey...? I understand if you want to keep it to yourself, it's just it would make things a bit easier =)
I would love too D: and I looked for the .psd and I found one but, it's a single layer and that wouldn't help. So I'll use one of yours and make a quickie to show an idea. (Let's hope I can get that one done fast lol)
Edit: Palaeno cleaned. Only the pants were cleaned (don't consider the rest xD), mostly. It's a quick rush by me, 20-25 minutes. But it should get you an idea of how it should be done both time and style.

Basically, you want to have two different layers.
A dark color layer and a light color layer (woot go cel shading).
Pick two colors of the thing you are trying to clean. The light color layer will be the one on top.
Take advantage of your Pen Tool and make sure you keep your sharp edges (e.g. the outline of the pants).
Use a soft brush tool (and sometimes hard brush tool) with varying opacity and size settings. I used 10%-70%. Size varies depending how small the detail is.
As you will notice, you will begin to see harsh edges with your shading, this is when you would lower your opacity to 10%-30% and use the dark color and softly shade on the light layer in order to keep it nice.
Outlines are there to help you know where you should keep it harsh in your shading or smoothing or cleaning out the lines.
Oh, take advantage of zooming a lot, you want to keep a consistent color base.
You really don't need to use any layer settings/blends, really
. As for annoying texts, zoom in quite a bit, clone tool with a soft brush with varying opacity. Take what I said before and make sure that the text that you cloned over is consistent with the stuff outside so that it's smooth not dotty/spotty.Edit: Don't be afraid to eat edges when you are cropping, if you are not aggressive enough, you'll end up with leftovers lol. And if that's the case, use your erase tool and with the favorited soft brush tool to remove leftovers (e.g. white edges that I see on Palaeno).

I've been trying out on Rhoda (specifically her legtights), but it's really hard to keep the outlines sharp. Did you just go over the outline and then delete the part that wasn't in the original? That's what it looks like (I mean, not like I was staring at the pixels or anything trying to figure out how you did it, oh no, not me >_>)

Lol, don't worry I do that, quite a bit, I look at something and guess how it was made <.<.
Yeah basically, color over area and erase the parts that wasn't in the original or at the light layer, softly shade some dark color (between 10%-30% opacity). I saw Rhoda, looks like just for organizing purposes, make a dark, mid, and light layer.

PB - I'm a bit surprised you picked up on her hand, but not the more obvious ugly whiteness around the part of the hair that comes out. I was originally going to give it a stroke, but it just didn't fit. There's a bit of an issue with adjustments as well, but hopefully it's not too noticeable~
I only upload stuff onto dA if it's too huge to fit onto tinypic, or if it comes from a more obscure fandom - hence the HD wallpapers. If I put everything onto dA I'd get swamped over with graphics D=

Well, actually I noticed the hair first, but it wasn't really bothering me since it's somewhat concealed if seen on lighter-colored background. The hand completely stands out, though, so I just noted that...

I had a lot of fun getting the right balance between leafy green and the assistant's classic warmth (read: I applied about ten dozen Photo Filters).
I used to upload my best stuff onto dA (curiously enough, most of which were wallpapers), and some stuff from when I was less experienced, but no-one seemed to really care so I took 'em down D'=

I wasn't too sure how the transparency would figure out, but I think it looks okay. It does look a lot better on a darker background~

I've been on a TWEWY high lately. I have exactly 58 pins left to find/master, and I just spent three hours compiling a document as to how to get/master them. I totally have a life XD

I'd like the same in sig form, with Light, as well as Gant, Kristoph, Engarde and Von Karma with their smug grins.
