So, I couldn't find one of these for AAI, and with AAI2 fast approaching, might as well make a generalized one.
So, I'll start!
Spoiler: School actually taught me something. Who'da thunk it?
In ancient China, Emporer Shang worshipped Shang Di. And Lang's ancestors were royalty, or something, and he basically worships Lang Zi. Shang, Lang. Shang Di, Lang Zi? Eh?

I missed Sal Manella when I first went to that area and I saved there but when I looked at it the second time I saw him.

@Steel Turnabout: You might have a point if 'di' and 'zi' were pronounced the same in Chinese. However, 'di' is pronounced something like 'deeh', while 'zi' is pronounced something like 'zuh'.

I believe Lang Zi is named so after Confucius, who's Chinese name is Kong Zi. Lang Zi actually does sound a lot like Kong Zi, what with all his teachings.

Ohhh, this topic is really suitable for AAI. There are so many little fanservicey details scattered throughout it that are SO easy to miss! I'm even highly considering playing the game over sometime to try to catch 'em all.

Spoiler: Case 3 (x3)
1) ...Well, first of all, I totally missed the :phoenix: :maya: :pearl: cameo, if that counts.... :acro: It seems a lot of people did, though.

2) I'm embarrassed to say it took me several seconds to get my head around the sudden brief appearance of Buddy Faith at the end of "The Kidnapped Turnabout."
I was freaking out, like, "Huh? Huh? Was that...!? So he's not really dead? Was the murder fake? Is this going to a be a plot point? Will I actually get to meet that nice detective!?!? =D"
...And then I realized... Oh...this is a flashback. :knock-knock:

3) Something I literally noticed about five minutes ago, which drove me to post on this thread:
The bridge to the Gatewaterland entrance... has a badger pattern on it!
... xD It's so insignificant -- yet, with as much as I love the badgers and look for them everywhere, I can't believe I didn't notice.
(Well, I guess it was just overshadowed by all the other badgerness being thrown in your face in that place. :-P)

Spoiler: whole game (character design)
I didn't realize this connection until I read about it on TVTropes:
The pattern on Byrne Faraday's scarf is a subtle hint at his membership of the Yatagarasu.
Apparently, it's the pattern of a typical Japanese "thief bag," as seen being used by [ :Maskdemaske: ] and [ :Maskdemaske: II ].
Of course, it's also the same pattern that Kay has on her shirt.
...Pretty fitting design for a great thief!

Spoiler:
In the kidnapped turnabout, there was that outdoor stage thing right? Well, it had the Gavineers symbol on it and the back there's that crying red badger "emo" guitar. I probably woulda noticed the first time, but I played this before AJ.

Oh yeah...I'm not sure if someone got to this first :eh?:

"Zi" or "Tzu" actually means "master".
I think Lang Zi is inspired in the figure of Sun Tzu, writter of "Art of war" because all the chapters in the book start with the phrase: "Sun Zi said" similar to the: "Lang Zi says".

Spoiler:
I'm surprised so many people missed Nick, Maya and Pearl in the background of Gatewater land, that and the Gavinner's logo were spotted instantly by me and I was freaking out. XD
Things I did miss,
- Cammy's name meaning that type of tea that helps you sleep.
- The poster in Gatewater land about Troupe Graymare and Max Galactica (found it the second playthrough)
- The veeeery close resemblance of Shih-na and Callisto Yew's faces.

To be fair, it's easy to miss if you're not the type to explore in the middle of a non-exploration phase.

Well, like a lot of other people, I missed the Phoenix cameo.

Spoiler:
Oh something I missed was from AA:T&T, the Cadaverinis. Like, the fact that it had "cadaver" in it? You know, a corpse?

I hope no one missed The Godfather reference...that woulda been sad if people did... :uramidn:

During the investigation phase by the stage before you meet oldbag and Emma, Look at the wooden board and it should say there is a showdown between troupe graymare :Temsai: and max galactica :cards:

if not, its when kay is recreating the crime scene when you DO meet emma and oldbag :will:

there were quite a few things in case 2 like:
The airport where Edgeworth lands (Apart from the Sal Manella cameo) looks like the airport that Edgeworth is seen in during JFA.

The mini-sprite of the plane pilot looks suspiciously like Diego Armando with sunglasses on.

Gumshoe makes a Batman reference during the investigation of the cargo hold :eh?: "Holy suitcases Mr. Edgeworth sir!) mimicking Robin's trait of saying " holy (something)" whenever there is trouble.

One last thing for case 2 but i noticed Franzisca being hypocritical. When first met at the airport she says "I never thought i'd see the day a member of the house of Von Karma would become a criminal!" Is she being stupid or just plain ignorant to the fact her dad was a criminal? :karma:

Also in case 3 i just noticed the the reference to case 5 of AA with Billy the cactus being donated to gatewater land by the police department. :jake:

Sorry guys, its like i'm stalking this page, but i'm not.
this one isnt that obvious unless your reading the dialogue carefully but i noticed something Manfred says to Edgeworth right at the start of the case and he says:

"The killer had the gall to say that he only killed because he was instructed to do so. Even more outrageous is his claim that the case prosecutor, Byrne Faraday, gave the order.Hah! Faraday is a fool! Cornered by his own prey."

This factual statement could also be seen as a reference to case 4 of the first game, where Manfred(case prosecutor) gives Yogi(killer) the order to kill Edgeworth via a letter. The last part can be seen as ironic as Von Karma also gets cornered by his prey (Edgeworth).

Or am i just looking too deeply into it? because the evidence proves my point ;) but i could be wrong.

Definitely don't think you're looking too into it, there are tons of subtle references to the past games, among other extra stuff you might've missed passing through the game. I didn't even think twice about the Franziska's hypocritical comment, but it almost seems like her character to completely ignore something that trivial.

Unlike everyone else I did miss the possible Godot reference in case 4, it just seemed like everyone noticed it but me. :V Also after a second playthrough I noticed in Case 3 Kay does some sort of little dance (they used her sprite where she tries to open the locked door from kidnappers hideout) while singing some lyrics to something, I forgot what it was, but it was a treat to see.

Guess who? Image Its me again
I found another.

Both Quercus Alba and Colias Palaeno say that Cohdopia split into Allebahst and Babahl due to civil war over the primidux statues years ago, which Edgeworth acknowledges. This could also be a call back to T&T, where Dahlia (As melissa foster) says she lived in europe for a while but left her country to come to america due to civil war.
This might just be dahlia lying to get a sympathy vote, but its very likely that the civil war she's talking about could be the Cohdopian civil war in AAI meaning Edgeworth could have already known why the country split.

just a maybe

I think it was Edgeworth who said it was a country in Europe, Dahlia just says the country she fled was torn by civil war. But i think Dahlia then later confirms it was in Europe aswell.

Back by popular demand :)

I noticed in the final case during the main story when Edgeworth is about to question Larry for the first time he says "This time i dont have the time to unlock the secrets in your heart."
referencing Phoenix's magatama when he had to use it.

Also Larry's book changes name, in T&T it was called "Franny's whip lash splash" but in AAI he calls it "Franzy's whippity whip trip"

**SORRY FOR DOUBLE POST**

I dunno if this is related to AAI:ME but I just happen to find a reference in Justice For All, the last case, since I am replaying it recently. It's when you find the spy camera stuff in Juan's room with that excuse for a bug sweeper(or some occasion in that part). You show it to Gummy and he says,"I'm on fire, baby! I'm on a mission no one can stop! YEEEEAAAAAAH" or something of that nature. Methinks the 'YEAAAAAAAAH' part is very familiar to someone....with sunglasses....

(Not to sound big-headed) I didn't say she forgot, but that the statement sounded hypocritical. And the quote you gave has no baring on mine, as she's saying that she doesnt care whether or not they were related, he could still have committed the crime, whereas my quote is saying that even though she is trying to put Edgeworth down and demoralize him, she slips up by saying she never thought a member of her household would become a criminal. This means she is either blatantly lying and being ignorant to her fathers actions, or that she truly sees him as not being in the wrong and falsely imprisoned even after Manfred confessed.

Nope :edgeworth: . Gumshoe said that :eh?: XD It was in Turnabout Airlines I think in Middle Game where you argue with 'Franziska's Logic' . :franny: (And Gumshoe gets a good deal of whipping for that...) :sadshoe:

And the quote you gave has no baring on mine, as she's saying that she doesnt care whether or not they were related, he could still have committed the crime, whereas my quote is saying that even though she is trying to put Edgeworth down and demoralize him, she slips up by saying she never thought a member of her household would become a criminal. This means she is either blatantly lying and being ignorant to her fathers actions, or that she truly sees him as not being in the wrong and falsely imprisoned even after Manfred confessed.

You are right that she is a hypocrite. She is a criminal herself for whipping people.

Unlike everyone else I did miss the possible Godot reference in case 4, it just seemed like everyone noticed it but me.

Don't worry, I didn't spot any Godot references and have no idea what it is.

I noticed various references - like the Godot, Psyche Lock and Batman one. I didn't notice the Gavinner Logo or the red badger guitar, but I played AAI simultaniously to AJ .... and since AJ didn't strike me as interesting due to lack of Edgeworth, I played AAI more than AJ.

I missed the Phoenix cameo.... I thought I read it was in case 5, but then it was in 3 after all... but I don't really wanna go replay that case...
