Well, I've seen this question in various sprite threads but I couldn't find one for this topic alone. So the question I like to discuss here is, who does prefer/use a tablet for creating sprites, or not. What are your experience with tablet spriting etc.
You are also free to asked other stuff around this topic sprites and tablets :phoenix:

For example, when I did start spriting I didn't have a tablet and until a few months ago did everything using the mouse and the tools in ps, which sometimes is really a painful job :gant:

All I can do without a tablet is recolours. Trying to sprite with a laptop touchpad is a fucking chore! Finger cramp makes spriting not fun in the slightest.

If I never got a tablet I wouldn't have a sprite topic, and what a tagic loss on CR that would be |D

Some of the sprites I see that have been done without a tablet just floor me, I can't believe there are some people that manage it and don't have their sprites look like shit XD

I don't use a tablet, but I plan on getting one soon. Are there any really good ones that you know of?

@nulda Hmm, I don't know which are the current tops of the market but I'm very happy with my wacom bamboo the pen is not too light or heavy and the tablet its-self not too small or big... :phoenix:

@Cold For me it wasn't easy to use at the first sight but after some tries I got it and now I don't want to miss it :larry: The most difficulty for me was to look at the screen not at my hand when I was drawing but well that was just me :sadshoe:

I have a tablet, but I don't use it to make sprites. I find it easier just to use a mouse for them.

I could never use a tablet, not precise enough for me. A good old mouse and MS paint will suffice :P

What Percei said also applies to me. ^^ I mostly use a mouse, and sometimes I just use the touchpad on my laptop. I haven't had any cramps so far either. :P

Still, I'm curious about these spriting tablets.

My tablet isn't compatible with my Mac, so eh, I mostly use a mouse and I've only ever gotten cramps once.

I wouldn't be able to Sprite without my tablet, since I can barely draw using a mouse. I've been using a Wacom Bamboo tablet for 2 years now and it works very well for me. ^^

Tablets are plain and awesome. First of all, not a spriter, but I follow the same basic concepts as you would have to for spriting. I use a Wacom Intuos4 Small tablet, but for some reason, my pen is missing so I can't use it :sadshoe: , $70 is going to be gone pretty soon (replacement). I miss my tablet so damn BADLY, it feels painful to do painting without it.

You are basically "re-remembering" how to draw. Drawing on paper is totally different from drawing on a tablet.

The hardest for me is just getting used to my tablet. It's "slippery" when I first used it.

I agree with the last sentence. (I should have been serious with pixel art during my RS days <_<, damn) But if you want to do the job quicker (assuming you are well-coordinated with it), tablets are awesome :p, and zoom in function helps epically.

So, let me say, tablets won't make you better "instantly," if you are terrible at drawing, then you will be terrible at drawing a with a tablet. Faster processing, once you're used to it.

There's an awesome blog that had a guide in helping tablet coordination, but it's down atm.

I don't know about you guys, but I find spriting with a tablet easy. Since I have the bamboo pen and touch, I can use the pen to put dots where I want them. It's way easier to sprite for me.

(then again, I do more Pokemon sprites than Phoenix Wright. XD)

I use a Wacom Bamboo One. It's small, perfect and really easy to use. Mine was only £28 |D

How is it "not precise enough"? As long as you have decent enough tablet, it's just like using an actual pen.

Woah... My tablet is HUGE compared to that...

I kinda got it without knowing exactly how big it was going to be... But I like it anyway :D

As far as precision goes, I guess it depends on the pen that you use. Mine came with a mouse, but I never use it. It also came with Photoshop and Corel Painter which was a BIG plus for me.

Yes it was... Around $500 USD :beef:

But it was worth it because it works very well.
