This thread is my first, and I intend to promote thought and reasonable discussion regarding a question in the thread title.

1. Say the end of the world is right around the corner and god says you can bring one ace attorney game with you to paradise (hypothetically speaking). What AA game would you bring and why?

2. If you have never played the trilogy and you're asked the same question, what do you pick? (This question is null and void but still kept here to read).

Don't worry about how ridiculous this is or why you can't choose all 4 (I've now included AJ). Just focus on the questions and have a peaceful discussion why you would favor one over another.

Thoughie...I want them all!! :meekins:

But after some thinking...Propably the first one.
warför?
- It's the first game of the trilogy
- It's the first game I bought
- Nick is a greenhorn
- Pursuit ~ Cornered
- etc.

I like the music from JFA a lot,
and I like the T&T's story most, but...
I'd still go with the first one.

Trials and Tribulations for the first question, the original one in the second.

Trials and Tribulations because it's just the best in the series and has the best cases and characters, as well as the most drama. I wouldn't want to miss a single second of Dollie bursting into flames!

The original one in the second question, because, well, you want to start a series at the beginning, right?

1. Trials and Tribulations, because (duh!) it's the most amazingly epic installment of the trilogy...
...and, even more importantly, because it includes just about all of the great major characters in the series. :godot:
I mean -- if I picked the second game, I'd miss Godot! If I picked the first game, I'd miss Pearl, Franziska, AND Godot!
I couldn't stand for that!!

2. The original Ace Attorney. It was initially intended to be a standalone game, after all -- and so, since I theoretically wouldn't know what I'm missing, I wouldn't be left desperately needing to know what comes next (or confusedly needing to know what came before). :phoenix:

1.) Trials and Tribulations. It's the one game I used a walkthrough on the most so I'd like an opportunity to finish the whole game without one, no matter how long it takes!

2.) The original, of course. I'd be totally lost without it.

AW 1: Trials and Tribulations, of course, because I like Godot, when he smashed his coffee cup on his desk.. :hotti:

Ahem, sorry. T&T's is probably one of the best parts of this game. It's so interesting, and I can say: When I was finished the game, I cried. I have to play this again! Really.

AW 2: Uhm.. uh.. The first part, because it's on the beginning?

Current opinion on my thread is:

Q1: AA:1, JFA:1, T&T:4.

Q2: Everybody has chosen the same answer so I'll keep this question on until I see a few more posts stating the same thing.

Hopefully there will be more folk's coming to this thread and putting their answers here.

2. The first game, of course. X'D

I've decided that Q2 is now obsolete. And I'll include AJ in the mix. It'll give this thread some more views and more discussion!

T&T so far is the dominant game in my thread with 5 votes.

Hrrmm... this is a hard decision.

I'm stuck between JFA and T&T. On one hand there's a lot more to T&T to come back to but on the other I absolutely adore every moment of JFA.

Ah what the heck, I'll go with JFA because Franziska is awesome fun to combat against.

Interesting topic...

I'd pick T&T, because it had the greatest storyline (IMO) and it really tied things together. Not to mention I still enjoyed the filler-cases. It really set up an ending, and had an intricate plot tying Phoenix with the Feys. Not to mention you get to see extra character development - I'm mainly talking about Maya, Franny, and Edgey.

And 3-5 is my favourite case ever.

I'm sadistic like that, and no cosplay. If you have read the OP then you'd realize not to worry about details.

I have a feeling this thread will stagnate if I continue with people answering the same question with little difference in answers.

Are there suggestions/questions that anybody can think of to spark further discussion into the future? The main idea of this thread is 'What would you pick?' specifically, what game would you choose over another and why?

Only one? Oh, it's so hard! Probably the first game but I like the 2nd game too. I've almost desensitised myself to 2-3.... I love 2-2 so much!
As for the 3rd game, 3-1 and 3-5 were awesome but I didn't like the filler cases as much to replay. Game 2 is underrated, it actually had some great improvements also.

Well I'll just start by crossing off AJ & JFA because they only have 4 cases and in each one 2 of them are pretty weak, even though 2-4 may be the greatest case in the entire Ace Attorney series.

If I had to choose, I'd probably end up going with the original. Honestly, the only weak case in the original Phoenix Wright is 1-3 (I can't really call out 1-1 because, well, it's 1-1. It's got significant value just for being the first case). Also, even though the magatama makes for a neat gameplay mechanic in PW2 & PW3, you feel like more of an authentic lawyer without it, and not some sort of psychic detective. That is to say, you feel about as authentic as you can be when your legal assistant is a 17-year old who claims to talk to ghosts for a living. And forensic investigation in 1-5 for the win!

That being said, if we're allowed to take Ace Attorney Investigations, I'd take that over any of the earlier installments. I've only played through it once and I think all of the cases except the 3rd are great.

You forget AA had 4 until the DS port added 1-5 (which is a snooze-fest, in my opinion). And if you don't like a certain game in the AA series, just say it.

Also, who cares if there's supernatural stuff? It's a good game with an awesome story. I'd hate to play a regular lawyer who just sits around and writes reports for 18 hours a day. If I want realism, I'll step outside my house.

I'm not calling it weak because it had 4 cases, I'm calling it weak because half of its cases weren't very good. I pointed out that it only has 4 cases because if I had to play the same game for the rest of eternity, I'd want something with a bit more variety, and since I don't find some of the cases all that intriguing, I think going for a game which has more cases and, in my opinion, I higher ratio of good cases would just be common sense.

Also, I never complained about the supernatural stuff. I said it was, and I quote: "a neat gameplay mechanic". The thing is that since I went in the order of PW2 - PW3- PW1, I was used to using the magatama to find out when people were hiding something. So after P2 & PW3, I thought have being restricted to having the powers of a regular person and having to uncover lies the good old-fashioned way just by using logic and uncovering contradictions was enthralling.

The second quote came from your earlier post. You stated that AJ & JFA are crossed off because they only have 4 cases and 2 of them in each are pretty weak. Those are your words.

I don't think you're listening.

I crossed out JFA & AJ for having 4 cases not because this fact makes them weak games overall by any stretch of the imagination, but in the context that I'm presumably going to have only 1 game for the rest of my existence, it would make sense to take a game that has a higher amount of cases, simply because I'm sure that I'd get sick of the game eventually (even if the game is a PW game). By taking a game with more cases, I'm likely to play the game for a longer period of time before I get bored because there's more cases to deal with and therefore more things to do. Also, I'm sure that the games with 4 cases last longer.

In conclusion, I'm not saying that I think the games are lame just because they have 4 cases (as it happens, I find these 2 games to be the weakest installations in the series, but the amount of cases has no importance on this decision whatsoever). I'm just saying that based on the situation you've proposed to us, choosing a game that had more cases and a longer length than the others would just be common sense, unless you really like AJ or JFA, which I don't.

I do think JFA gets bashed far too often. Fransiska is my favorite prosecutor personally.

I now understand what you're saying. I initially thought you were another asshole who complained about less cases with no evidence examination like with 1-5. Turns out you don't like JFA and I don't have much problem with it. Thank you for clarifying, I can get arrogant and miss the point during conversations sometimes.

More cases do keep you occupied for longer periods of time but since we'd be in paradise, the laws of space and time don't matter, but I won't contradict myself by getting into little details. :gymshoe:

When I read the question my first thought was that I'd totally take T&T. I loved it. The story was great, the music was great, and it was heartfelt. But now that I've thought about it some, I'd actually have to go with AA. It's the one I've played the least, which is sad because it's so good. I just have so many memories associated with that game. :acro: Besides, after the thought I've given this, I confident to say that in my opinion, AA had the best story. I credit this to the fact that it was meant to be a stand alone, so all the loose ends got tied up at the end. Besides, how can you not love :edgeworth: ?

For the first question I'd pick JFA for Franzy my bby /shot (Or can I just say GK2? djfhklg)
I really like JFA because uhh, it has nice characters? Or maybe because it was easy (except for case 2 and 4)
2-1 was ok I guess. I just dislike Wellington because he's ugly and similar to Oldbag
2-2 was HARD. I don't know why but I find it harder than case 4;;;;
2-3 wasn't bad imo, I quite enjoyed it <3
2-4 was hard but enjoyable (ADRIANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN and her glasses)
Also, JFA had my favourite End Credits theme ahh <3
But if I can take GK 2 I'd choose it over JFA for many many reasons. The main one is probably cuz I get to play as Edgey's awesome dad.
Koishi x Flandre.

I would pick Apollo Justice, hands down. For me personally, it has the best replay-value of all the games in the series, and if I'm going to be stuck with just one game for all of eternity, it might as well be one that I won't mind playing over and over again. XD Plus, I love the cast. :odoroki:

AAI because Shih-na.

Having to choose from the 4 main games though I'd choose JFA. It was the most... lighthearted? IDK I just find myself capable of replaying it over and over again.
