Indy nodded, going from her room downstairs to find the main desk. However, as he reached the last stair, through the door of the stairwell, he saw two Nazi officers talking to the lady at the front. He cursed and sprinted back up to the rooms. "No time! Pack everything, they found us!" he hissed as he sprinted down the hall back to Rose.

"What!?" Jefferson said. He quickly began getting dressed and wiped the shaving lather off of his face, leaving him with half a face unshaven.

He packed up his things and went to Indy. "What are we going to do? How do we get out?" he said, already beginning to guess what the answer would be.

Rose tried her best to brush her hair with her hands, but it was still pretty messy. She came out, putting her bag on. "Why can't they wait until I look more presentable?" she asked herself, a little ticked off. "I really hate being a mess. Honestly, this is disgraceful."

Indy rolled his eyes. "You look fine, Rose. C'mon! We can get out through the fire escape. This way!" he said, runnign down the hall to the emergency window, pulling it open and crawling out onto the creaky fire escape. "Hurry!"

Jefferson followed closely behind them, carrying his bags over his shoulders. He hesitated for a second before getting on the fire escape.

Better to risk this poorly constructed fire escape and live than be killed by the Nazis... he thought to himself. He climbed out of the window.

Rose followed Indy onto the fire escape. "This does not look safe at all." she commented before going down. "If I fall, I'm blaming you!" she joked, smiling at Indy. Then she thought about how bad her hair looked.

Indy grinned. "Joking at a time like this?" he asked, heading down the creaky steps, until he finally reached the bottom, and jumped off, landing with a roll on the ground. He turned around and stretched out his arms to catch Rose. "Let's go! I think I can hear them gathering up around the building," he hissed.

Rose took a deep breath and jumped, landing into Indy's arms. "Well," she said, "Where do we go?" She looked around for a way to escape. "And are you going to put me down? Or are you going to carry me?" she asked, joking a bit.

Indy put Rose down without a word and looked around them. They were in an alley, with only two directions to run. Indy chose the left, and they emerged in the budy Cairo streets. "We should get back to the truck we left," he suggested.

Rose nodded and stayed close to Indy. "I remember where to go." she said, looking around. "It was just over here!" Then, she took the lead, weaving through the crowd. She grabbed Indy's hand to make sure he stayed close.

Indy kept an eye out for the Nazis, who were thankfully still searching the hotel. They were lucky Rose couldn't find a brush, he decided. Perhaps another reason why he couldn't go on these adventures alone.

Eventually, They made it to the truck. "I told you I knew where it was!" she said, getting in. Then, she attempted to fix her hair again, but it still looked very messy. "This is ridiculous."

Indy hopped in and started up the truck, squealing off into the desert quickly. "Forget about your hair!" he said as they began to go off away from the city. At a good distance, Indy parked the truck and pulled out the Rod and the Eye from his jacket and eyed them carefully. These had to bring clues as to where the treasure was. He knew it.

Indy examined the Rod of Life carefully. It was a long, ornately decorated Staff that had an eagle fixture at the top. There was no noticeable cavity to fill with the diamond. Frustrated, he searched it again, but to no avail. He turned to the Eye, a beautifully crafted gem that shone brilliantly in the sun. He also noticed that looking through it, it could magnify objects. "Puzzle pieces..." he muttered absently, taking the Rod once more. He ran his fingers along the eagle and suddenly had a thought. He gripped it and twisted, and the eagle loosened and came off. "Aha!"

Indy then took the Eye and placed it in the hole where the eagle once occupied. Hearing a small click, he looked to the other end of the Rod, which had opened. Indy stepped outside and looked through the bottom of the Rod. "It's a magnifying glass!" he shouted in awe. "This is how we can fine the treasure! There's something engraved on the diamond, it acts as a kind of lens. We have to find out where to use this to find where the treasure is being held."

Rose gasped when Indy took the eagle off. What was he doing?? Then that feeling of shock wore off when he placed the eye in place. "Th-This is amazing..." she muttered. "Maybe there are clues on the staff itself about where the treasure is? Are there any images?" Maybe there were pictures that would pinpoint a location.

Indy excitedly looked on the side of the staff. There were various diagrams of their gods and goddesses, the usual fare. But near the top, there was one engraving that was peculiar: an eagle on a mountaintop, looking over a structure of some sort, a kind of domed pillar. He was amazed, and scratched his chin in thought. "Let me see the book," he said quickly, taking it and opening it up. He skimmed across a few pages and made a noise of realization. "Yes! The Crystal Mountain! We need to get on top of this mountain and search with the magnifying glass. Quickly!" Indy climbed into the truck excitedly and took off in the direction of Crystal Mountain, checking their map for reference.

Rose looked at the book. She gave Indy a smile. He really was a genius. "Nice catch, Indy!" she exclaimed, looking at a picture in the book of the structure. "The crystal mountain... Do you think it's there? Or do you think it'll be another clue?"

Jefferson looked at Indy and replied, "My father was a firearms collector. He had many vintage and modern designs, and he taught me how to shoot and carry a gun when I was a teenager. He always carried one with him, so I suppose to follow his footsteps I do the same. Not that it hasn't come in handy." He chuckled.

He pulled open his jacket coat revealing the holstered M1911 .45 Pistol at his side. "This particular one I'm carrying was his favorite of all his pistols. He customized it very much to his liking, and it is one of the things I remember him by the most..."

Indy knew she was disappointed, but he ignored it. He wouldn't allow Rose access to something that she could kill someone with. He wouldn't have her do something that horrible. The rest of them had killed before, assuming Jefferson had. "I'm sorry, Rose, but you have to understand," he said after a minute of silence.
