Sorry to those having problems right now - I just upgraded the forums (and the pesky phpBB team stopped providing the manual upgrade package) so I'm having to go through and double-check the integrity (or lack of) of all of the files.

It's been a bumpy ride but the forums are updates to version 3.0.6 please be patient with us as we fix some transitional bugs.

Do transitional bugs include the "First Unread Post" feature acting wonky? When I click on it in a one page topic (or last page of a topic) it brings me back to the board index.

This thread seems to be the place to report technical issues with the forums, so here goes.

There seems to be an issue with the login confirmation code that’s supposed to be displayed when a user reaches the maximum number of failed login attempts. The issue being that the code image isn’t being displayed at all while the input field for the code is still there. I registered with the boards under the name Odrom a few months ago. After going inactive for a while I attempted to log in--of course I couldn’t remember my password so I went through the list of passwords I usually reserve for message boards until I ran into said problem.

I double-checked by clearing my cookies/cache and using Firefox and IE, the problem might be on your end. I finally did remember the password to my original account but still cannot log in due to the code display error. I registered this second account to report the problem, if you already know about it please disregard this message.

I'm still having a problem when I click the newest post button. Anytime I'm on a one page topic and I click it, it brings me back to the board index.

I noticed a recent chage under the Defendent's Lobby that I do not particularly like. You see, there are these little rectangles before the Kurain, Hazakurain, and The Hydeout Subforums. These rectangles were red when there were new posts in their respective subforums, and white when there weren't. However, I recently noticed that these rectangles were white regardless of whether or not there were any new posts. Is there any way you can change it back?
Thanks.

Mm, that was semi-deliberate actually. I'll reenable it, for the mid-term at the very least.

Main site's RSS feed should be fixed now. I'm not sure how in the world I didn't notice it wasn't working; even more surprised that no one mentioned it to me; but hey, it's up and running now.

Just noticed a rather nasty bug with the new theme:

Stretching the user info box = DO NOT WANT :(
Does we even do these things anymore?

Hey I know it's an old topic but I think this is best place to voice my concern...

When I view a topic, it tends to take a very long time to load because of the amount of posts per page. It's an enormous number, and when the page is fully loaded, not only do I get a tiny, tiny scrollbar, but tons of signatures and icons to scroll though [probably the reason for the loading times, too!] and I find it really tedious and irritating. :[

Also, the "web chat" link works but I can never get into the chat.

I must click 2x on the 'Submit' button, but I click at the first time RIGHT. It only works with a second time. ^^

And I can't see pics in forums.. They aren't delete, I know it, but I can't see it. Also, the next problem, when I want to write a topic (since yesterday), my internet close the window AUTOMATIC. D:

Personally, I've always found 20 posts to be much too little. (Which was the old number) Perhaps if more people voiced their opinions on this?

Err, Luke was the mastermind behind that one. I'll ask him when he's next around (personally I preferred to use a dedicated IRC client)

Uh, what browser are you using? I've never had that problem before, nor to the best of my knowledge heard anyone report it. (Right now it sounds like extensions playing havoc)

Not to be snarky, but Windows 7 is not a web browser.

1: How much is it right now? I don't want to go through and count a bunch of posts. XD I think part of my problem is that I'm using 1024x768 resolution, which I know is pretty small nowadays, but even when I was on another computer which had a higher res it bothered me.

2: Looks like a Mibbit widget to me. I've only ever used Mibbit because IRC clients always confused the hell out of me.

Now, it works. Because I changed my browser from Windows 7 into Firefox.

For the forums:
-"Sitemap" at the footer below is giving 404 error
-RSS Feed 404 error (I'm also assuming you already know of this problem)
-"Sitemap INDEX" 404 error.
-RSS "Channel List" 404 error.
-Web Chat is producing some php error code (but it's still loading fine), also not able to resolve hostname? [But I don't have an IRC account soo xP]
-Was looking at the staff...And was wondering if a "hanzi" member is supposed to be listed as an admin? [He/she has 0 posts...Bot or something?]

Other than that, I think the forums are pretty much in the best shape it can be...The external links on it however aren't working as intended xP

Hanzi's the server admin of where the forums were hosted after dream host, and before our current host. He helped me with the transfer. He's not cannon CR Staff, but he's there for a reason. Good eye though.

As for the site map et al, that's related to the phpbb SEO mod Luke installed. It broke upon transfer. It's something I mean to fix at some point, but it's not very high on my list. 'Course I may make it a higher priority if more people voice on this particular matter.

-Haha, I thought as much, it would only be the most logical conclusion to reach to regarding him xP

-Considering that CR is already big and pretty much number one hit when google searching, I could see why it wouldn't need any high priority at this point in time, so no worries on that.

Could you at least redirect all those external links to a dummy static html page stating that it's in the process of being fixed? Might give others who browse the forums and such assurance it isn't being simply forgotten xD

Oh, I actually forgot to ask earlier: Can you or someone else on the staff (who has time) make a list of things that you are going to fix relating to the site/forums, and things you are already AWARE of? Might save a few headaches for if someone repeatedly keeps reporting a bug you might already know for example.

Alright here's what I can think of off the top of my head

  • Random php Error on front page
  • Random logout on forums
  • phpbb SEO related breakage
  • More erroneous potatoroki.com DNS stuff - email related?
  • Mild main site maintenance
  • New forum banner?
  • Very complicated/time consuming secret project

From a few on that list, sounds like it's going to be more of an annoyance to identify the problem and fixing after it xP

Also, I should've been more specific, sorry about this:
But I meant, in either the OP, or a new thread (either an announcement/sticky), make the list there so that anyone who is thinking of reporting anything can look at the thread first to make sure no one has already beat them to the reporting of a bug.

I really think it should help you and even the rest of the community in being organized at the least AND knowing what's in store (I honestly think the more centralizing everything you plan to fix/or are in the middle of fixing/plan to have something in store, the better that it's all in one place).

Up to you though, but it'll definitely save someone like me headaches of actively looking at different threads to find out the main issues that might need updating to the community about ^^.

Are you planning on fixing those forum/topic-name-t1234.html type links? And has the email notification feature ever worked?

For the broken links, unfortunately I cannot enable the mod_rewrite, as doing so brings down the forums all together. I'd have to splice the modification onto a fresh version of the forums. It's doable. But hasn't been on my radar as a priority. I've been working non-stop since March on a large project for CR, and that's been sucking my time.

Email notification worked way way waaaaay back... and then made our old servers cranky. Currently have no plans to renable.

Dunno if the custom phpbb theme will break if you enable it, but Wooster, I'd really appreciate having a quick-reply button enabled....EVERYWHERE, xP

I didn't notice how annoyed I was posting here on CR as of recently when all the choice I had was to go in an editor :X

Not too long ago... I was attempting to find things that would thwart the spam bots. (Spoiler: It thwarted them for all of an hour). It's traditionally been disabled because on Dreamhost, it made us quite noisy on the server. But now that we're on our own server, doesn't seem like much of a reason not to.

Hey Wooster, I can't access the IRC through the forum tab. It keeps opening a blank page, can you replace the link on the IRC tab on the top of the forums to the webpage where the irc chat resides instead of the irc:// protocol as the address?

I don't have an irc program and idk who else that visits the forum has one...I've had to use google to get to yall's chat page xP

tl;dr: Can't access IRC chat through CR, replace link so I don't have to google it.

Edit: Here's a link that I used to get in:
http://www.123freechatnow.com/chatrooms/chatstart.html?server=irc.dynastynet.net&chatroom=courtrecords

The link is currently using the irc:// protocol since the old chat script doesn't work and I loath all web clients equally. But if enough people say they prefer this over what we currently have, I'll listen.

I'm down with that.

I DO wonder who here on the forums even uses an irc program (besides the users that are currently on the chat now, which is like...2 people xP)

Out of curiosity, what's your beef with web clients? Limited functionality or something or...?
