This is one of my favorite shows!

Regular Show is a comedy on Cartoon Network about two 23-year-old slackers, a blue jay and a raccoon named Mordecai and Rigby, who work hard to do as little work as possible on their lame park groundskeeper jobs. Their boss is a gumball machine with anger issues and their co-workers include a naive gentlemanly lollipop, an immortal yeti who gets around by skipping and is voiced by Mark Hamill, a fat green guy whose punchlines often end up making fun of himself, and a ghost who gives high fives. Completely regular, right?

The situations the duo get into often turns from the mundane to the outlandishly bizarre. For example, in the midst of finding more chairs to set up for a birthday party, Mordecai and Rigby find an old-school arcade machine that unleashes the Destroyer of Worlds, a giant 8-bit devil head that shoots fire from its eyes.

The show is full of 80's references, so if you were an 80's kid you'll probably appreciate this show even beyond the level that I do, as I am a lowly 90's kid. XD

Regular Show was created by J.G. Quintel, who also worked on shows such as the Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. Many of the character designs are recycled from his college student films, such as from the acid trip sequence from 2 in the AM PM. (not appropriate for kids, but Regular Show is appropriate for kids...kinda)

The show is in half-format, so each episode is only 11 minutes long so it's easy to get into! Regular Show airs on Cartoon Network and if you can't get it then try YouTube, but they're starting to get deleted so it might be best to hurry!

Season Three starts September 19th! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Aww, you beat me to the punch. Ah well. But before this gets locked, I'm gonna say (because I'm too lazy to go back and see the other one), I love this show. I do the "Oooooooohhhhhhhh!" all the time, I hambone at random times, and I've started working out so that I can arm wrestle like Skips. Like a BOSS.
And that's the same picture I used in my Dream jobs thread...

Holy hell that episode rocked! Benson has a depressing backstory, though. Touching, but depressing.

I KNOW RIGHT I'M STILL FREAKING OUT. BENSON IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS SO I'M ALL LIKE BAAAWWWWWWWW :larry:

I always thought he was all angry and unhappy because people kept trying to take his gumballs when he was a kid.

Man, I'd have played a round of Stick Hockey with him even if I hated the game. That was so awesome, and Benson revealed why he was so angry all the time, and his "student" was killed, and it was a BAAWWWWWfest of an episode.

I like this show. There are three other shows on Cartoon Network right now that I like more, but this one is pretty good. I've subconsciously taken on some of their mannerisms.

"OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!"

"Yeeeaaauuhhh!"

Regular Show is great. One of my favorite things about it is that the original idea came from a short film JG Quintel made in college about two convenience store clerks who drop acid and hallucinate all the aspects of regular show (themselves as rigby and mordecai etc)

You have two options here if you don't want to look like an idiot:

1) You can stop being a nostalgiafag and shove those horrible opinions down your throat.

2) Or you can explain the reason why you think this show sucks this much. Please elaborate with examples from specific episodes and tell us some facts that would convince anyone. Oh and "It was made after the 1990's" is an invalid reason.

Yara, your second option would be invalid for him as if he stands by his opinion, I really doubt he'll want to watch this show, you'd be lucky if he even watched the show for 5 minutes before turning it off. You're honestly just being a bit too silly, especially when people's opinions differ from your own.

Also, Adventure Time is the only show I've found worth watching on Cartoon Network, every thing else on that network now seem like they're trying too hard to force unneeded humor or they just completely miss the mark, both resulting in shows not worth watching. Call me a nostalgia fag, but I much prefer Boomerang to the CN of the day, but I'm also not blinded with nostalgia goggles either and will admit when shows are dumb, even if I grew up on them. Heck, I don't find some episodes of Johnny Bravo as interesting as I used to.

What do you consider unneeded humor? I get the vibe from cartoon shows nowadays that you need to resort to just random shenanigans to get a laugh. I've seen little snippets of Adventure Time, Regular Show and that one show about Kung-Fu gumballs (seriously, wtf a banana taking a shower?) and I all I really see is just random events used to get laughs.

I see myself as a nostalgia fag and I'm really not ashamed of it. Is it really that bad to miss something which was once good?

Okay let me break this down to you, I was born in 1990 and Cartoon Network was awesome back then but since its owned by somebody new they had to add these new shows that fails. Chowder, Sucked. Flapjack, Totally Sucked. Total Drama series, Crap. And Regular Show? Utterly Fails and annoying.

You say that yet you are the one who started the Hatewagon by posting in this thread.

Fine, I will retract my statement and let opinions be opinions. Go ahead and like the 1990's if you want, I too was born in that time period yet I find it extremely overrated but that is simply my opinion. You can have your opinion so just let others go ahead and have their own instead of derailing this thread with your misplaced criticisms.

I'll give you Spongebob, that show's disgusting now. But if you stop using FUCKING FAIL EVERY OTHER WORD HOLY SHIT, and look at everything with honest eyes, you'll see reality. I was born in the nineties, and honestly, I prefer many shows today than that of the nineties. Anyways, consider this: In the nineties, censorship was much looser. Everyone was more relaxed about things, and kids grew up on violent, bloody television. (Remember Looney Toons? Porky said "Son of a bitch!" once. True, it was pulled off the air after that, but it had to initially be approved to be submitted to the television companies). There were wars, there were shootings, and people realized, "Hey, maybe letting Ricky watch Jerry shoot Tom WASN'T a good idea, since he just blew Nick's brains out repearing the scene." Concerned parents called into the television networks, complaining about the violence. So, bans were put in place. If a show is deemed too violent or bloody, it can't be aired. So, in the nineties, Broly could jump up and down on Goku's nuts until he coughed up blood. Now, The Hammer can't smash Skips in the face and draw blood without a complete redrawing of the scene done, less violence, more nasty random shit until eventually you end up with Spongebob pulling out his retinas and having his brain fall out, brain stem still attached, just to get young children to laugh, while in fact making most other people squirm. Honestly, television is fantastic, considering the shitstorm it has to go through to get aired, and the shit storm the nostalgia fags, like you, rip on it for not having the shitty art, god awful characters, and piss-poor BASIC editing required to meet their ancient standards. You can keep your opinion that new shows aren't as good as olden times, but just consider the hell that the creators have to go through to just get aired, much less live up to your unmeetable standards. Face it, no one will cater to your every whim. Technology's moving on, and you can choose to be left behind with your oldfag -vs- newfag ways, or join society in the present. Your call. Choose wisely, you only get one chance.

I don't think you understand... animation??
like, stuff like Total Drama and Jonny Test are terrible because it's all complete flash animation but stuff like Chowder and Regular Show and Flapjack and Adventure time are literally almost completely influenced by the 90's Renaissance (the general eras for animation are Pre-1928 is Silent age, 28-50 is Golden Age, 50-90 is Dark age (being most prominent in the 80's) and then Roger Rabbit helped bring about the 90's renaissance). Hopefully we're moving towards another renaissance with the fantastic animation style (Regular Show and Adventure Time are some of the few shows to use animation smears in the last 10 years). Not liking the new animation because you like 90's style animation is like disliking LA Confidential or Chinatown because you love Film Noir so much.

Regular Show is situational humor. The more "random to get a laugh" stuff usually comes from a supernatural twist in the story or as a deceptively convenient solution to a problem or just to follow the rule of cool. While it is over-the-top, it's not usually just gratuitous and redundant to pander to a "kid's sense of humor". Regular Show actively panders to an audience older than its demographic, mostly people of the 80's and 90's generation. And it usually incorporates that last part you mentioned.... Honestly, it sounds like you would like this show. XD
