When I was young, I loooved the anime. I thought it would be the coolest thing in the world to go around on my own pokemon journey.

...I kinda still do. :yogi:

Brock and James MADE the damn show.

Here are all the intros that aren't Diamond/Pearl because that one is awful and horrendous:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGuaxz84 ... ed&search= 2nd Opening (Orange Islands)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTqSunT4isk 3rd Opening (Johto Journeys)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE_lPOp_ ... ed&search= 4th opening (Johto League Champions)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02qxjsQV6TE 5th Opening, Master Quest

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zWoKHvI ... ed&search= 6th Opening, Pokemon Advance

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0hEPLRx ... ed&search= 7th Opening, Advance Challenge

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2X-4jtDcxY 8th Opening, Advance Battle

and here's the Italian Advance Battle, because it's damn catchy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egxtRDwo ... ed&search=

I love the first one and I'm actually sort of fond of all three Advance openings.

Damn you nintendo stop making 10-year-old girls that don't look like they're ten.

The first was the greatest. I remember watching it everyday after school. That seems like decades ago. I still have all of my Pokemon merchandise... somewhere.

I'm afraid I can't enjoy Pokemon anymore, in any way, even as a mild distraction. It's gotten so amazingly formulaic, even more so then before, in the biggest way possible.

Just not fun to watch at all. I'm sick of Pokemon anyways.

I still watch it on CN during the day on mondays while playing my pearl version. I don't watch Diamond and Pearl, even though I love Dawn/Hikari she is so much better than that slut May.

I was a bit old when the US dub was released (I would've been about 14 I think) so I wasn't THAT into it, but I had an addiction to the cute Pokemon like no other.. Which of course the boys in high school teased me about my love of Pikachu..

James was the best character. By far.

The other day I caught the end of an episode of Diamond and Pearl... It was rather unfortunate.

I still play the games though. They're made of win.

The Pokémon Animé is way too generic that it's not even funny anymore. I mean, every friggen season it's just "Satoshi sets off on an adventure--->Catches Pokémon--->Battles Trainers--->Gets Gym Badges--->LOSES at the Pokémon League--->Starts a new adventure yadda yadda yadda" and it's gotten old. There's not enough character development to go around, Team Rocket just won't give up for the love of fuck, and noobs scream in joy everytime Lizardon Charizard makes an appearance.

The fanbase, lack of character development, and subpar animation in the series leaves much to be desired. Coming from a Charizard-worshipping Noob Pokémon Community, I can honestly say that the show's quality has been dropping ever since Season 2.

Go watch Digimon or Monster Farm. Or just play the games. :|

I used to like Pokemon a lot as a kid, but it got old at season 3 to me. I still play the games, but I'm no longer addicted like I was as a child.

Also, I noticed something. Is it just me, or is Pokemon of America worse than 4kids?

...Did I just willingly open the window to a Pokemon intro?

...

WHAT HAVE I DONE

/wrists

No, but seriously, I can't stand it. At all. It was cool and all back when I was younger, but now it's just sickening.

I looked up a D/P episode on youtube to get an idea of the new voices and I swear to god I gagged. Also I think Dawn has gone from being my favorite female trainer to least solely due to her voice.

Maybe if they made it serious. Not 'insert legendary Pokemon here gets captured and/or sacrifices itself' serious, serious serious. Like, what the hell is Ash going to do if a mugger shows up with a gun and Pikachu happens to be busy somewhere else. What if someone gets shot and dies? Or what if, just once, Ash loses and the other person doesn't just go 'lol, you'll catch up soon.' Maybe just something a little more serious THAN THE SAME DAMN THING OVER AND OVER. 'Ash-and-co-meet-new-pokemon-and-its-trainer-and-team-rocket-tries-to-catch-it-and-pikachu-' got old about a decade ago.

Oh wait, they already censored one episode because Ash got a gun pointed at him. :grey:

Bleh.

Oh,who am I kidding. I admit it, I still kind of want to watch it from time to time. I confess, I watched part of the eighth movie when it was on and I was home alone. I'M A HORRIBLE PERSON ;_;

Ah, such fond memories... :grossburg:

I remember I used to absolutely adore the Pokemon series, both the anime and the games. I even had the Team Rocket motto memorized (I actually still remember it). After Red, Blue, and Yellow I kind of lost interest in both. Based on what people have posted here though, it seems like I haven't missed much by falling off the bandwagon. That said, I don't think my inner poke-geek will ever really die. Even today, I can still identify any of the original 150 Pokemon.

Ahh pokemon...such a big part of my chilhood.

I stopped watching after the first three seasons though. I lost interest when the third generation of pokemon came out. I just couldn't catch up with how many there were.

I still remember when the first movie came out back in 1999 and how big of a deal it was. Everyone here was trying to collect all the pokemon toys and cards from Burger King. I still have a whole binder full of pokemon cards. I even have all the holographic ones that you'd get when you went to see the movie.

I also remember how agonizing it was for my parents to actually take me to the movie and sit in the theater.
*mini movie comes on*
Mom: "Is this the whole movie??"
Me: *at the tender age of 10* "No mom! That's the MINI movie! The real movie comes after this! GOD don't you get it??"

Our poor parents who had to deal with our pokemon obsession... :payne:

Though I'm not into pokemon anymore, I still enjoy the games like Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness and I enjoy watching some of the old episodes on youtube when the anime was good.
Plus I'm a total Misty x Ash shipper and a Team Rocket shipper. :larry2:

C'mon, you all knew Jessie and James were totally canon. Hell, they even got married in the manga. Or at least that's what I heard. :yuusaku:

I had all the handheld games up to Pokemon Crystal as well as Pokemon Pinball, Pokemon TCG and Pokemon Puzzle Challenge for the Game Boy. I saw the first three movies when they came out. I saw the fourth movie on tv about two years ago but I watched it cuz I was bored. I even had that little Pikachu virtual pet thing where you had to shake it in order to get points XD

...man was I pokemon obsessed.

And then I got into Yu-Gi-Oh. XD

LAWL.

Too bad the First Pokémon Movie pulled off the most obvious deus-ex machina there could ever be. It was cool when I was, what, 9 years old, but nowadays it's far too bland, too standard. Pokémon used to have quality, but the noob fanbase dragged it down to the degrading show it is today.

I worked at the Pokemon Center New York the summer FireRed/LeafGreen were released. So I sorta had to know all the movies (at least generally) and pretty much memorize all 386 (at the time) Pokemon.

Also, Diamond/Pearl are really really fun.

I stopped watching the show after the pokemon league/ Orange Islands. I never really watched it starting with the S/G generation, but I hafta say that James and Brock made the show worth watching. Too bad Brock had to hang out with sucky characters like Ash and Misty! Gosh I hated them both. Jessie and Meowth were pretty tolerable in my book and Tracey??? WORST BROCK REPLACEMENT EVER!!!!! That season was a joke. Brock is too awesome to be replaced. What would rule is if they just focused the whole show on Brock, but thats probably just me...
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

Yup....sort of. Every so often, I check in on it.
Personally, the series needs some sort of closure, or at least a "passing of the torch". I know they cooked up that "Chronicles" series (boy, was that short-lived), but they need someone to REALLY replace the remaining cast members. As much as we love 'em, eventually the story has to move on.
Is "Ash" even striving to be this Pokemon Master that he was trying to be since the first season?!
Heck, "Brock" needs to take his duties as a gym leader more seriously and start running that thing again!
Yeah, and Team Rocket's more competent members need to appear more often.
That's all I'm saying.
Even with all the butchering, there was more meaning and purpose to the anime. Now, it's just being drawn out (props to the REAL first-gen PKMN fans that can name ALL 300-500+ Pokemon w/o using that freakin' "Rap" song!) to the point that even the kiddies can only tolerate so much.

Misty has more class than her...

Hmm....I guess I can agree with that.
Forgive me for sounding like the "middle man", all of the "Poke-girls" in the series have some sort of redeeming quality. Yeah, I like most of 'em (even the one-shot/movie characters!), but not to the same obsession as a certain character.

Me? I LOVE the manga version of the series. It's far more entertaining and much more pleasing to the eye (The artwork in the manga is much better than the anime!)
How many of these have they released in English, and are they restricted to the same censoring, if any, as the anime?
It's been a while since I picked up a copy, so I don't remember it too well.

But beside the characters, my biggest peeve would have to be the "de-evolution" of recent Pokemon. No, I'm not referring to pre-evolved versions like Pichu (if I'm not mistaken, Pichu evolves into Pikachu). I'm talking about the recent PKMN designs....what the FREAKIN' HELL were they thinking!?
Don't get me wrong, some are pretty noteworthy (can't think of any right now), but they're probably more effective in a Capcom game (Megaman, anybody?).
Sleek, "dark", "mature"? Please.... :nick:
Don't bother fixing what isn't broken, right?
I guess it's a little late to tell 'em that....

Hey, who's guilty?

I ,um, love Pokemon. A lot. I'm gonna be eighteen in a few months, but I still have the Pokemon bedcovers, curtians, cuddly toys, trading cards and everything. I have a freakishly huge Peter Pan complex. >.>

I do agree that the earlier Pokemon episodes were the best... I don't know if they were actually better, but they *were* my Saturday mornings when I was a kid. Sneaking downstairs while the parents were asleep to watch stuff like "Tentacool and Tentacurel" and "Challenge of the Samurai".

Island of the Giant Pokemon was awesome. THEY WERE ALL GIANT ROBOTS. What's not to love?
And TR would crossdress every other episode.
And kids died of epileptic fits in the Porygon episode.
And they banned episodes where stuff like James wearing fake boobs happened so you'd miss out chunks of the story (where did all those Tauros COME from?).
And the dub was crap and made no effort to explain Japanese-style jokes ("Maybe it's a... COW-terpie!"), but it was the only anime you'd ever known so you didn't know better.

Oh, good times indeed.

I miss being a total idiot when I was little and completing Yellow with a Pikachu (called, naturally, Sparky) with the moveset Thunder, Thunderbolt, Thundershock and Flash. >.>

And back when I played it for the first time and knowing nothing about type match-ups and thinking that Thundershock wouldn't work on Misty because she was a Gym Leader XD

And that Pokemon cereal that must've been at least 80% artifical colourings. It turned the milk a radioactive green-blue colour when the marshmallows melted into it.

And how everyone would kill to get their hands on the Charizard card, even though it wasn't really that great and Ninetales did more damamge over two turns.

And complaining bitterly because you only got the Electabuzz promo when you went to see the movie, because you wanted the Dragonite dammit!

Oh, I could go on and on here...

I watched Pokemon and collected Pokemon merchandise so long ago! I still have the Pokemon trading cards in a folder. I've got a Dragonite card from the first movie still in the plastic wrapper too! I collected the cards with my brother, but we never learned how to play!

I don't quite remember when I stopped watching, but I have started watching Diamond and Pearl on Cartoon Network. My nephew is playing Pearl version, along with recording every Diamond and Pearl episode aired so far. He's just getting into the Pokemon phase now, so I guess that's why I'm watching it again! I recently bought myself a Piplup plushie, and a Chimchar plushie for my nephew. I've also realized there are so many movies I haven't watched, so I've been renting and watching them.

Other than Pokemon, I used to watch Digimon and Monster Rancher too. I watched Monster Rancher since I played the game first. I still have all the episodes recorded on video tape! I liked the plot in Digimon and Monster Rancher so much more than Pokemon.

My parents both worked when I was little and still both work late, so I was raised by shows like Pokemon and Digimon from 3:30-5:30.

I've never been able to shake myself of the fandom. It's just been embeded into my life so deeply, I can't see myself not liking it any more. It's been around for over half my life :P

The villain was Moo, and the heroes were searching for The Phoenix! :phoenix: I need to rewatch this show! I almost forgot about the website I made for it a long time ago. I wrote out all the episode titles and "Monster Raps". I need to update it.

I used to know all the original 150 Pokemon raps! I loved listening to them after every episode. There are so many Pokemon now that I can't keep track of! One reason why I'm watching the Diamond and Pearl series is so I can learn the names of new Pokemon.

CHARMELEON! Wartortle!
Mewtwo, tentacruel, Aerodactyl!
Omantye, Slooooowpoke,
Pidgeot, Arbok, that's all, folks!

Also, I'd forgotten that... "Go West, Young Meowth" is actually a really good episode. Probably one of my favorites.

Argh, I used to know both Pokeraps by heart, but I can't be bothered to type them off the top of my head :D

I never liked Digimon that much. They took a lot of the charm out of the series by making them able to talk, I think. And I like the Pokemon designs more; they're simpler and cuter.

No, I don't have a Phoenixachu (I actually wish I knew where I'd gotten this one from), though if you'd visit Clickmon's art thread, (s)he has loads of awesome PW Pikachus.

So who's your absolute favorite? I have to say I like Pikachu best (hence my username), though I love Totodile (which I just typoed as "Totodike"), Electrike and the Eevee evolutions, too.

Favorite of all time is Eevee. I looooove Eevee. I want one D:

Also like Vulpix/Ninetales/Arcanine.

Piplup is darling, but loses the charm as it evolves. On the other hand, Torchic and Combusken are silly looking, but Blaziken is badass.

I like Absol, too.

Oh, and the show made me love Psyduck and Wobbuffet. >.> And Jigglypuff.

I actually checked out the first few episodes of the new Pokemon cartoon (Diamond and Pearl I think?) and finally got around to playing the game.

It inspired me to write about how Dawn has the worst mother ever.
