I have to say I'm really looking forward to the release of the first phase, DWAM. From the quality of the screenshots to the little pieces of information you've been posting progressively throughout the case's development, I can't help but be excited. Plus, it's Apollo meets Edgeworth and a PyWright case to boot... ^^

Can you confirm if Oldbag will appear in the episode or later on in the series? :karma:

Sorry, no Oldbag. I think it's actually been done WAY too much recently and I don't think she'd really fit into the story other fanservice.

...Well, MAYBE Case 2...

Let, me, uh... Write something.

First off, the Beta-Testing is going fine (BP finished his report), so that's closer to the finished case, I guess, but--

What I want to write about is the following:

I am hereby making this all one case.

Today, I was doing a lot of planning, I essentially thought up of Case 3 (and rearranged Case 4 a bit) - and do you know what I realized? Almost NONE of this is needed to me. I could skip all of this, and the final case could still be accomplished. Granted, I'm still going to change some of the things (10% of the plan has to be changed) -- but yeah. I am hereby, in short, merging Case 1 and Case 4 into Downfall. I feel like this is the best approach, and far less time-consuming. And because of this, I feel like the sense of mystery is still equally strong, if not stronger for the fact that the player discovers some of the facts that would give him a certain 'picture', so to speak, that would be discussed in Case 1 and left in the dust until Case 4. Sooo... Yeah. Part 1 however, does not have to be changed in the slightest and neither is Part 2 going to be changed. It's all part of the same mystery. So, I'm changing the first post. Check it out!

Hmm... That's interesting. Obviously, without knowing the plot and what you're cutting out I can't say if it's a good decision or not, but it's always nice to get to the meaty parts sooner :P

Well, the original concept was... thinking about it now just makes me cringe. It was just... awful, overused and no matter what happens in this case - it's a ton better than what I had in planning. The motivations made no sense, the endings were bittersweet, and the only case truly worth playing was the last one. And now that I applied this new concept to it, it actually makes a lot more sense. :)

Wow, I'm late to notice the drastic changes that you made. Only one long case now? That sounds interesting :) And it means that I'll get my hands on the full version a lot faster, so yay!

EDIT: Looks like I missed the opportunity to be a beta tester.. well that sucks :yogi:

Well, I won't be keeping the same Beta-Testing team through the entire thing, y'know. I think you'll have your chance. (After all, I think I'll release it in six parts, or something...)

ANYWAY, another report is in! Two down, two to go. BTW, I would like to apologize for making you sit through my awful spelling mistakes (Just makes you want to punch me in the face, doesn't it?).

3/4 reports done. (MayaPhoenix)
Aaaaand, we are close to the release! So, it will most likely be on October 28th. (Which is actually how I initially planned it.)

Downfall to the Turnabout [Prologue 1/2] Released!

Image

Download Now!

Yes, ladies and gentleman, we have liftoff! After... a month of work, I think, the first part of Downfall finally sees the light of day. I want to thank everyone who helped me during Beta-Testing (unfortunately, I forgot to add the credits, so please forgive me -- I will add it on the end of Prologue 2/2). For now, the list is:

Ropfa
Bad Player
MayaPhoenix
nudalman

If you have issues with this, no problem. I will just re-upload the file.

Soooo... yeah. I actually wanted to go into a bit of details on the actual development, however, maybe another time (too sleepy).

I am already hopelessly stuck on the first testimony :yogi: But so far what I've played is very good. Your script and your way with words so far is perfect. I found a typo though.. can't remember where (well, somewhere before the first testimony :P), where the prosecutor says "uUnfortunatly".

Other than that, I am loving it, and I would like to comment on the whole thing.. but gaarh, first I have to find that contradiction!!

But, what I've played of the case so far, it's very good.

Spoiler: question for DWAM
Wow, I just read through the Profiles before the case started...I stumbled upon Catherine Holl's description...and she's a school teacher.

DudeWithAMask, may I just ask if your idea of Catherine Holl is from any real Ace Attorney game? If your answer is yes, I might've already figured out who she is...

Well, I thought if she would be from any Ace Attorney game, she would be the teacher from when Edgeworth and Wright were kids, with that little play case with lunch money and stuff. Hey, Edgeworth and Wright are apparently both affected by this case, and Wright finds her pretty important.

Heh. The second testimony is tough, primarily because there are a billion things I feel I could present, but none of them work. I wish I could put logic together, because I know two pairs of logic that contradict each other...even though I know that's not what logic is for.

Gaaahhhh

You know that third 'Logic' page in the Court Record? Well, guess what? It's broken when loading. So, what I did, is I forced an auto-save, then after it, put up a bunch of code to force it to fix. So, every time a game is loaded from that point, that code will be ran, and the page will be fixed.

And don't worry, you'll get that logic moment. (Because you can't actually use it in that testimony.)
Also, is the 2nd testimony really that though? I was under the impression that the 1st one was the hardest. XD

The first one was pretty challenging, but I figured out all the stuff in it without any huge trouble. (Actually, absolutely no penalties for the first testimony!)

Spoiler: I've found out
- The Logic dealing with the sound/distance thing.
- The fact the arrow had "blood" fingerprints on it.
- The phone conversation.

And after finding all this did I start getting penalized. Just to give you a perspective.

Spoiler: Gah!
I'm at von Karma's Logic testimony thing. I have already combined the logical points dealing with splattered blood and the fact Edgeworth didn't get blood on him. From there, I haven't been able to combine the remaining logical points to make sense, so I quit using logic. I've looked through the testimony, and I don't see how the logic I have could counteract his...I'll keep working at it...

There just seem to be too many possibilities. Not only that, there's still logic that should make sense if pieced together.

I'll just keep going...
