The past week or so has given us some new tidbits about the upcoming Gyakuten Saiban film, which is slated to hit Japanese theaters on February 11th, 2012.

First of all, the ever-vigilant JapaneseGIRL let us know that we have a new trailer for the film. While not subtitled at the moment, it will be updated with subs if anyone can provide them.

Second, the film's theme song was announced to be "2012Spark" by the Japanese band Porno Graffiti. It can be heard in part in the trailer above.

Third, a partial cast list was announced.

Finally, an OST for the film is set to be released February 8th, 2012. No tracklisting is yet available.

Regrettably, there's been no news of an official English dub or sub, but we'll keep our ears to the ground.

Update 12/20/11: The eagle-eyed Masterchap let us know that the film will be screened at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam, which runs from January 25th to February 5th. You can check out the website (in Dutch) here; it also has an officially-subbed English trailer, and according to Masterchap foreign films at the festival are usually subbed in English. Perhaps a good sign for an eventual Western release!

I don't know if this will get an official sub, but I'm sure that one of the many sub groups out there will pick it up. :phoenix:

Have the two musicals been done? I'm totally out of the loop on those projects.

I know someone actually translated and subbed both musicals, but he only provided the subtitles, as far as I know (I still have them for the first musical, I believe).
I've never heard of any complete sub (video + subtitles), or even the musicals themselves on the internet. Maybe I just haven't checked it out hard enough, but not only is the DVD really hard to get outside of Japan (only sold thourgh Takarazuka's websites) and quite expensive (especially if you live overseas and have to go through shopping services to get the DVDs), fans overseas aren't really interested in that musical...
Plus, it looks like that Takarazuka really doesn't like people subbing their shows (or even just releasing them illegally on the internet), so there might be some group out there who has subbed the show, but it'd be quite hard to find.

I just fangasmed everywhere. If there is no official release I'm sure someone will sub it. Also I'm thinking anime conventions. The one I go to loves showing off takashi miike films. Somehow we will see it in the west. If not, I'm buying the poop out of an imported dvd release. Translated or not.

Waitwaitwait, before the Ace Attorney movie hits the theaters this movie is first being shown at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and the end of januari. I'm 100% sure that the movie there will have Dutch or English subs that, I think, should be originals. Anyway, I'm from the Netherlands and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to check it out. :D

It's stated on the Wikipedia page (it's cited too): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyakuten_Saiban_(film)

For some reason I thought it was mentioned on one of the threads here some time before, but maybe not.

And for the decisive evidence about the subs: http://www.filmfestivalrotterdam.com/nl ... -algemeen/ (dutch)
I'll translate the 7th question:
7. Will the movies on the festival be subtitled and if yes, in which language?
When a movie is in English, it won't be subtitled in most cases. When a movie is in a foreign language, it will, in most cases, be subtitled in English. But there may be some exceptions; some movies get Dutch subtitles. An overview of movies with Dutch subtitles will be available on the website from the 20th Januar, 2012.

Hopefully my translation was understandable :) SEE YOU GUYS THERE!!! xD

Oh, cool! I'll add that to the first post - it even has an officially subbed trailer.

Wow. That is an awesome catch. SOMEONE FLY ME TO ROTTERDAM.

EDIT: Did anyone see that trailer? "BENCH TRIAL EGAL SYSTEM"... I'm assuming this is Dutch-made? At first I thought whoever did it had played at least one AA game, since they correctly translated "gyakuten" to "turnabout", but then Phoenix yelled "kurae" and the subs said "take this"... It's UMvC3 all over again :/

Haha as if that mattered, THE MOVIE WILL BE SUBBED BEFORE OFFICIAL JAPANESE RELEASE! How cool is that?

I went to the worldpremiere of Ace Attorney The Movie today (at IFFR). The movie looks really like the game!

Spoiler:
The movie was English subbed and even Lotta's special way of talking was included in the subtitles!
One of the cutest things were the flashbacks, with Larry, Miles and Phoenix as kids.
I would recommend this movie to all the fans! In the end Miles shaked Phoenix hand and called him 'Phoenix'. It was really fun!
