Now, as I've said before, I'm not one to consciously mislead people. But considering we're told to "Read into that exactly what you are hoping to", I feel this is safe material.

On Capcom's forums this little dialog occurred:

This brings me to my question though. Will the western fan base of Capcom cease to see localization for future Japanese marketed games, mainly Monster Hunter and Ace Attorney?

While we are unlikely to be the driving force behind them (and as such, have a more limited voice in the direction of the franchises) Monster Hunter and Ace Attorney remain important brands to Capcom in the West. Keep in mind Sven is not promising any one Ace Attorney title in particular, and the answer is also addressing the Monster Hunter franchise. But… if you're curious what title in particular Sven 'might' be specifically alluding to, why not go back to our May 18th news item, and track down Carmen Sandiego.

It's actually kind of hard not to get your hopes up in these kind of situations. :sadshoe:

But, regarding the franchise, let's not lose hope for the fate of the series. Though there hasn't been any concrete news that the games will be localized, there will always be a chance that it will. Just not as soon as we hope, considering the fact that it's an important name for Capcom. But, quoting what someone said around here, this is Capcom were talking about here... :ini:

Sooo... he is basically saying that we are likely to see some love for both these series in the west, just nothing to say at this time though? I'm fine with that, as long as they do eventually get announced :shoe:

Forget that! Get freaking Hyped! Monster Hunter love and Ace Attorney love, the only better thing would be some crazy crossover where Phoenix hunts monsters with giant weapons while a hunter prosecutes a crazier hunter for crimes against nature by hunting animals to extinction.

This news is great.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that Capcom thinks of doing this someday. But if not, I'll keep hoping for the awesome fanart.

Well, yeah, that's the problem. Everything's decided by Capcom Japan, where shareholders are, most of the time, the ones making the decisions, not the creative guys (people like Takumi).
Which is why I have virtually no hope or GK2... though I do believe we might get GS5, that'd sure restore my faith in Capcom.

All this time I sort of blamed Svensson for the lack of localisation for GK2, but guess I was blaming the wrong guy. :yuusaku:
I'm quite confident that if he actually was the guy who decided whether GK2 should have been localised or not, we'd have had GK2 months ago.

WORDS!

I bet Mega Man's "important" to you as well but that doesn't mean you'll prioritize him over the gravy trains that are Street Fighter and Resident Evil.

RAAAAAAGE.

I hate being taunted.

I don't put a whole lot of faith in Sven's assurances, given recent history, but it's better than nothing. I've heard CoJ has a lot of say over AA and MH's treatment in America (presumably since they're wholly Japan-developed), so the guy really can't do much more than reassure the fans.

That said, odds are pretty good he's referring to PLvsAA here, which if the previous hints are to be believed should have an announcement on its way fairly soon.

I get that Sven's just doing what he can, and there's no blaming him for anything, but with the same basic thing being said over and over again, this really has no impact on my hope of an official localization. I know this isn't an unpaid internet project, but still...

GS5.

What were the seven confirmed titles again? I'm just curious.

Resident Evil 6

Lost Planet 3

E.X. Troopers

Ace Attorney 5

Monster Hunter 4

Devil May Cry

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor

Are those all the titles? (excluding unannounced titles)

Which clearly isn't 'announced'.
I'm not getting my hopes up again for GK2 :larry:
But it means they haven't 'stopped' the franchise in general.

No offense, but 'Monster Hunter and Ace Attorney are important to Capcom USA' aka 'Monster Hunter and Ace Attorney remain important brands to Capcom in the West' is the kind of PR speak that doesn't really mean anything....

I think there is defiantly a chance of GS5 coming out...assuming its on 3DS. It becomes uncertain if it goes to something like iOS.

As for AAI2, it sounds like the chances of us getting that are still totally slim. Its interesting that its Capcom of Japan that's part of the problem. Capcom of America didn't really hint at that before. It's almost a little more disheartening that Capcom of Japan is doubting the sales as that's where the game is coming from. It might make it harder to get things over here.
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.
