French Ace Attorney fans, it's time to rejoice! Kurokawa will start the publication of the 4 Ace Attorney Investigations mangas in July!
The first volume will be released on the 5th of July.

Here's the blog post from the Kurokawa Editions's blog (in French)

Quote:

So is it NEW AAI stories, or ones from the game?

Holy hell o_o
Is this seriously Ace Attorney merchandise released in France? Never though that would happen. I need to get them as soon as they're released.
Thanks for the heads-up.
And apparently there also have been Phoenix Wright mangas released here? I had no idea. Need to get them too.

How many other French AA fans are there on this board by the way?

The text claims they are new stories.

Well, AAI wasn't released in France, so I wasn't sure if it meant NEW AAI stories or old AAI stories that are new to the French.

I thought AAI was released in France, just not translated.
Besides, the description of the AA manga also says that they are new cases.

Yes, Ace Attorney Investigations was indeed released in France, but didn't get any translation at all. Just like the rest of Europe, the game was in English only. And yes, we DID get the Ace Attorney mangas too, back in 2010. I think we even got them before the US, if I remember correctly.

About the stories, I clearly remember reading some scantrads, and it was original stories (not stories from the game itself).

Man. I suck. I saw this on Twitter, then Go Nintendo, and someone emailed CR about it. Each time I was busy doing other things and ultimately forgot about this. Sorry folks.

So, this French Ace Attorney Investigations manga is completely different to this?

And suddenly the years of studying French at school are made useful. I'm by no means fluent in French (and my syntax is awful) but I know enough to understand most basic texts and I managed to get through the Phoenix Wright trilogy in French, so I'll be reading this and learning more as I do.

IIRC France received the orignal manga by Kenji Kuroda and Kazuo Maekawa a while back, which was then released in English last year by Kodansha.
It was different from the anthologies published by Del Rey, which were anthologies of doujinshi (fan-made manga).

I hope they release this in English as well!

I might just order this since I know how to read/speak French. Even though the French I know is Canadian French, and some sayings I might not understand, the majority of it I will be able to read :edgy:

Really? Lucky then. Me and my friend bought the mangas from an old bookstore around here. They're in English and still in awesome condition. The first one's about Phoenix and the second one's about Edgey. :keiko: I'm telling you guys, the manga's as funny as the game itself.

Meanwhile I've received and read the 5 Phoenix mangas (in French). They're pretty great, so I'm looking forward to the Edgeworth ones.

Since nobody has mentioned this yet, I thought I'd mention that the Miles Edgeworth Manga is coming to the U.S. in July from Kodansha Comics.

I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

Oh, didn't even knew that existed, and...

:beef: :beef: :beef:

The preorder on Amazon is already nearly half off? None of the PW manga releases have ever been that low!

*secures preorder now to guarantee in case it goes up later*

EDIT: looks like volumes 2 and 3 are already up for preorder too.

The entire series is up for pre-order, actually. It has a release date of November 2012, but I used amazon to track when the PW manga was being released and they've all been delayed a couple months. I'd probably see 4 coming out closer to March 2013.

Should someone alter the news story just to mention that it's coming to the US too? I'm really excited there won't be an AA shortage anytime soon.

Oops, I didn't realize there was a fourth one because it didn't appear in the related section on Amazon. Preordering that one now, in any case.

It is strange that Kodansha Comics seems to always overestimate their release schedule... At least they mostly come out high quality.

When I say mostly, I mean that they have messed up the quality of the images on occasion. The cover of PW2 is a prime example, as there is a ton of pixellation.
But the translation/localization itself is high quality, IMO.

I haven't actually read the manga yet, since I'm replaying the third game. (I heard the manga most probably takes place after the third game). But a family member has read them and she says they are fairly similar to the quality of the games themselves. One thing I am sure of is that they are better than the "official casebook" that del-ray published back in 2008. I bought those and was terribly disappointed; The humor wasn't the same as in the game (and wasn't funny either) and there were only a few actual cases, none of which were long enough to feel like a real case. I later found out it was fanfiction, and didn't bother buying the second volume. As much as I like the characters of AA, the main draw is still the cop/law mystery, and it seems the official manga is much more in line with that.
