They didn't know squat, they just guessed, correctly in that guess. They had a 50% chance to make a fool of themselves.
For the twitter guy, unless Square is already working on the localisation, he'll know nothing of TWEWY2. But he might know about the iOS port, so it's definitely that.

I know this is a Phoenix Wright forum, so the temptation to go finger-pointing is high, but it's worth keeping in mind quite a few of GAF's members are in the gaming industry, including those who encouraged others to back off the hype train in this case. If they'd come out and said "it's going to be an iOS port", they'd be either getting themselves or their source in hot water, depending on where exactly they learned about it from.

No, it doesn't change the fact it's disappointing, I'm just saying L~A was being harsh in accusing them of 'not knowing squat' when they actually were in the industry and did know. GAF is not a place to play the "I know more than you" card unless you actually do.

Well, that's...disappointing.
Why an iOS port warrants a week-long countdown I'll never know. Then again, I suppose this doesn't change the fact that Nomura is still interested in doing a sequel when he's got the time.

Being in the industry hardly makes you 'all knowing'. And I still maintain they didn't know squat (and my remark was on this particular case, I hardly visit Neogaf enough to have read every single one of their posts), and just guessed correctly. People thought of a port/album CD way before they got involved in the discussion.

But seriously, 17.99$ ? Sorry, but I can't help but laugh my ass off on this one. Where you see people calling '2$' games expensive, where rip-offs of games is legion (and users actually defend it, just because it's free... see the Pushmo clone fiasco thingy)... are they REALLY expecting a 17.99 bucks game to sell other than to fans who already played the original?
Square-Enix really trolled us hard with this one (and I have to admit, we played our part too, getting excited for naught). I wasn't a real big fan of theirs (hopefully...), and I believe TWEWY was the first and only game I bought from them (if you don't count the half-assed Heroes of Ruin, since it was developped by nSpace). Well, it looks like I'm not going to buy another one of their games any time soon. No, I won't boycott TWEWY2 if it ever comes out one day (when AAI2 gets an English release... *ahem*
). No, I won't boycott any game. But I have plenty of games I'm interested in (too much you might say), so there won't be any hesitation between a SE title and another developer's.And finally, kept this till the official release, so as not to put an undeserved blame on Square-Enix... (warning, very rude language inside).
A 7 day countdown for the port of a 5 years old iCrap port... just wow guys.
Lol-o-Edit : apparently, Square-Enix disabled the rating for the video (and the comments too, but that's regular stuff for their vids apparently). But last time I checked, it was something like 96% of dilikes, 4% of likes.... heh, I'm sure they saw that coming.

Well disappoint rains around.
What bothers me is how they've changed the gameplay, looks less innovative since they've lost the dual screen hook. Hell I'm curious as to how they'll work around that as that was actually part of the plot. When you battle the Noise you and your partner are warped to different 'planes' of Shibuya, that's the whole reason you need a partner as you can't battle the noise alone otherwise they'll just destroy you from the other plane.
Just looks weird and overcomplicated with two partners on the one screen hell battles could get confusing beforehand. Also the intricate unique features that determined whether you could sync or not have been replaced with minigames.
They must've made some major adjustments to it somewhere.
If I can get the album somewhere I might (as I wouldn't want to miss the KH remixes) but Square really dropped the ball on this, especially at that price and so far I hear there isn't even a European release.

Hey Higashizawa's puns were awesome a friend of mine set one of his internet alias as puddingofdoom because of it.
And maybe they'll teleport you to one screen at a time for THAT battle. God knows they've messed up the battle system as is.
Anyway my conclusion on how it'll work is they'll simply make the partner fully AI controlled so you need only worry about Neku. Maybe for this reason they'll make them immune to damage? Anyway based on the gameplay trailer you don't collect stars to sync up, indeed once you sync up then you get a diluted form of the partner battle/minigame to boost some kinda number. I think the outcome of that determines what level of fusion attack you'll do. Of course it'll lose a lot of the dramatic effect it had before (where it was the only time you would join up with your partner in battle) but hey so long as they can crap out a workable version for iOS. *spiteful*
Edit: Looked at Brilingual's twitter, he's answering some questions. You 'summon' the partner with a pin (presumably doesn't take up a pin slot) and touch command them.
In the end I'm not really bothered by a port...a port is fine probably not as good as original considering the unique features of the DS were being used amazingly there and naturally some of that would have to be lost on a different console much less a non-dual screen one. In the end I'm not missing out on anything. It's how they handled the whole affair that has earned them the hate, a big countdown that only fans will understand that leads to something they honestly thought the fans would want? A tweet sent out that implies (read: blatantly lies) that there is more to come. Then when it reveals there is nothing else the dude 'stands by what I tweeted'.
I'll live but it's a big faith shakedown by Square.

*Shrugs* I don't really see a point in it. We're hardly a TWEWY fansite, rather this news just gets forgotten in the dust, hardly anyone here will bat an eyelid if we don't provide a file by file analysis like we did for Ghost Trick and GS12&3 compilation.

Judging strictly by the filename, the original file was a JPG, converted to a PNG. iOS screenshots are PNGs. But that doesn't rule out the screenshot actually being a file in the game. Unfortunately the file itself doesn't betray its origins, or at least not with the tools I have. My metadata turns up null, but that can easily be explained with the JPG->PNG conversion.
On the other hand, the dimensions 'are' correct for an iOS screenshot: 640x960 or vice-versa.
It's dubious, but I'd give it the benefit of the doubt. I seriously doubt a fan would go to that artistic extreme for a sequel hook. Even then "New 7 Days"? Odd phrasing.

I don't see how that's possible. This isn't even part of the Secret Ending, it's just in the standard "beat the game" ending. Look up "twewy ending" or something to that effect on YouTube and you can see for yourself.

Now I clearly remember this one, which is why I said the 'teasing picture' was dubious... but it actually looks like it's real.
I'd be disappointed if it really was the same character... as everyone have said, would kinda 'ruin' the entire character they've build for her during the game.
