With GS5 in development, the mobile website Gyakuten Tsuushin has started updated again, so for those who don't have a Japanese cellphone, here's a translation of two colums updated on September 20th ('letters' was also updated, but not that interesting). I had to take pictures from my phone screen, which explains the quality. I'll probably post consequent updates too, if people are interested.

[4 Panel manga]

Title: Style (By Kikuyarou-san)

Image

Maya: Nick! Today it's soft curls with a light touch of an adult sexiness!!
Nick: Ignore it, Maya! You react, you lose!

And the Charley column (columns following the adventures of the foliage plant Charley which is standing somewhere at Capcom HQ! And usually related to series news, of course...)

Quote:
[Part 32: It's Tokyo Game Show 2012! Charley's Chapter]

Tokyo Game Show 2012 started today!

It seems like people are really excited about the booth modeled to the collapsed courtroom of Gyakuten Saiban 5.

I, Mako☆Stardust, am actually also at the show, so guests who plan to visit us, please watch over me with somewhat warmish eyes.

? "So you're not going to take a look at Charley then today?," you say? Hehehe. I had expected this, so I had already asked a collegue to report every detail to me, pal!

And a mail with an attached picture was just sent to me, so let's take a look! What's this? "Charley is holding something!"

Image

Can it be? This is... a blue ribbon, just like the one the new character announced at the Gyakuten Saiban 5 special stage today, rookie laywer Kiduki Kokone is wearing!

Did Charley immediately search for a similar ribbon because he's trying to become like Nick's assistent?

The new character Kokone studied in the States and is a specialist in psychological analysis. I look forward to see what she will do in the courtroom!

By the way, other news was also announced at the stage. That is... usage of animation! The animation studio is Bones!

This time, animation is shown at several points in the game as part of the performance. The story will become even more exciting! And Bones will be producing it, who has become famous with various works like Fullmetal Alchemist and Eureka 7 AO, so expectations become even higher! Look forward to a Nick and Kokone who will move around with lots of expressions!

And today's palindrome is?

Ki-su! Ne-ko, Ko-ko-ne Su-ki!
Kiss! Cat, I like Kokone!

Kokone is so enchanting that you'll even kiss a cat without knowing! Maiko☆Stardust is also very curious to Kokone! Let's look forward to more information in the future!

At Tokyo Game Show 2012, Gyakuten Saiban 5's playable booths are still there, and there will be more stage performances! And we even have gifts ready for those who come play GyakuSai 5, so please pay a visit to us! ☆
I'm waiting!

Remember when Edgey becoming a prosecutor at 20 was considered remarkable? Those were the good old days.

(Although I should note that it says she's a "specialist in psychological analysis", which I presume isn't quite the same thing as having an actual degree in psych. Even so, attorney at 18 is bad enough. :yogi: )

I'm a bit angered at this recent wave of underage lawyers and prosecutors as well. At least it had a story-reason for Klavier (Who needed to be young enough to be Apollo's rival even after the 7 years jump) and Yumihiko was an idiot who only got his badge because of certain ties, but everything aside from that is really just getting ridiculous...

So, have you tried capturing the content in transit instead of photographing your phone? It's quite easy if you take a few minutes to learn the basics.

Franziska was 18 when she was introduced, right? So Kokone being 18 isn't so surprising. At least she's not one of Nick's underage female assistants.

So Kokone will be German in the English version? Can't imagine what her localized name will be.... Any German names that start with K and have something to do with emotions/expressions?

I am more thinking of Austria, another German Speaking Country in Europe. Why Austria? Because that's where Psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud lived.

Oh, and as for names... With your conditions... "Klara"? It means "Bright", which she certainly is. Also, it sounds simmilar to the German exclamation "Klar!" which means "Of course!"

Maya's a year younger than Franny, it's not that much of a difference, Kokone and Franny just look more mature and older than Maya

Maya and Franziska are the same age. But yeah, they do look older than Maya. Then again, they are wearing more formal clothes (well, I should really say BUSINESS-LIKE clothes... or at least business-like tops).

I doubt it would cause inconsistencies. Austria is just north of German and shares many of the same costums, laws, climate and even the same language. Also, you can travel between them effortlessly because they are both part of the European Union. It'd not cause a lot of troubles. :garyuu:

*just noticed that kokone STUDIED in the states in the jp version so i guess she'll be american and will have studied in germany in the eng version

Not entirely correct. It became generally and unspecifically "Europe" for Ema. :ema:

If it makes sense for them, they'll probably stick to america or europe...so long as the background is concurrent and makes sense, where they choose her location from doesn't strictly NEED to tally 100% to whats come before.

What will the localization team do when a Japanese GS game introduces an actual German character?

Make them Danish. It worked for the German Version of Malcom in the Middle.

Aaaaand a new Charley-kun entry! (dated Oct 4th)

Quote:
Part 33: Tokyo Game Show 2012 Special Report Chapter

Hi everybody! Not losing to rain, not losing to wind (typhoon), not losing to my unflexible seniors*! This is the Gyakuten promoter Mako☆Stardust!

*(reference to Miyazawa Kenji's famous poem ame ni mo makezu)

Well, Tokyo Game Show 2012 was held between September 20th ~ 23rd. Did you members of Gyakuten Tsuushin also come here? Thanks to you fans, Ace Attorney 5 won the Future Award of the Japan Games Awards. The people at the event all got really excited!

I, Mako☆Stardust, will give a special report for those who couldn't come to the event. I hope you get a feeling of what it was at the event!

I will first introduce the booth of Ace Attorney 5! A lot of effort went into this!

Image

A destroyed court appears in the first chapter of Ace Attorney 5. We recreated that perfectly with this booth!

The highly damaged court benches, big cracks in the walls... a look at this this will really make you experience what it would be like to have a big explosion in a courtroom.

The playable demo available at the event was a special version of the first chapter Turnabout Countdown. Were you able to play the demo while feeling like you were really in the world of the game?

And there was a life-sized figure of Nick who has returned as the protagonist! A lot of people took pictures of him!

Image

By the way, the staff were wearing outfits that were designed after the new character Kokone! ☆ The yellow skirts are cute! ♥

Image

There was a lot of new information at the special event "Ace Attorney 5 - Nick! Revival special stage". The contents were really special!

Image

During the hands-on demonstration, we showed the new system of the trial part, Heart Scope and we also showed the 3D investigation parts a bit, where you can examine suspicious places from multiple angles.

In related news, we also presented other information for the Ace Attorney fans had been dying for, like information about the collaboration with the Takarazuka Revue I also mentioned in the 29, and information about merchandise.

Part of the stage will be made available in the video archives of the special TGS2012 of the Capcom PC site, so people who missed it should take a look there.

The four days went by like seconds and it was very busy every day, so there were a lot of people who in the end could play the demo. We're sorry! We will keep introducing new scoops through Gyakuten Tsuushin until the release of Ace Attorney 5 in 2013, so look forward to that!

Fuu, this has really become my solo performance! At this pace, Charley won't even have an appearance! So finally, let's take a look at Charley. He must have been feeling down, being left alone all that time!

Image

Hey! Is Charley holding.... Yes! Those are the original rubber straps we gave away as presents for those who played Ace Attorney 5 at TGS 2012!

False Elephidence and False Chargerhino* were given randomly away at the event.

*(Netsu-zou-kun and En-zai-kun)

Charley didn't come to the event, but he didn't miss any of it, it seems.

(and then a part about a giveaway event of the two straps, but it is only open for members of the website)

And related to these wonderful events, this time's palindrome:

i-za!-n?-e,-e-n-za-i!?
Now! N? A false charge?
