As it turns out, there isn't that much content on these forums dedicated to the Manga that has been put out. Currently, there are 5 Phoenix Wright volumes (all of which have been translated), 4 Ace Attorney Investigation: Miles Edgeworth volumes (vol. 1, 2, 3 have been translated, volume 4 comes out in January), and 2 Casebooks, which are essentially fan comics compiled into 2 books (both are translated). Head to
http://www.kodanshacomics.com to buy them. Alternatively (and also if you want the Casebooks) you can head over to
http://www.amazon.com and purchase them there.
I would like to say that I have all the translated works (the ones mentioned above are the only ones I know exist, at least officially). I have read them all and they are really good. They do a great job of making you feel like your'e playing the game. Obviously, you don't control the characters, but it does get intense, and there's always that "OMG NO WAY" moment when the story reaches its conclusion.
Each sub-series is split into a bunch of different cases. The Phoenix Wright series has 7 or 8 cases (I don't have them next to me since I brought them home from college for my brother). I like how the creators always manage to find a different setting for their story. The first case is obviously an introductory case to show what Phoenix Wright is all about, and the cases just get more intense from there. Fans of the series will have no trouble getting into it. There is also that classic Ace Attorney humor sprinkled throughout each case.
This following line may be a little spoilerish (although it has nothing to do with the story), so I will put it in a spoiler tag.
The Miles Edgeworth manga doesn't have any court scenes, it's mostly just Miles going to the scene of the crime, reviewing it, and using logic to incriminate the culprit. This is pretty much exactly how the DS game of the same name plays out- you know, the one that goes completely under the radar because it's so different from the rest? The one that has a sequel that refuses to be localized? The one I didn't actually finish because my emulator was being an annoyance (I only used an emulator for AAI:ME)? In any case, the manga is fantastic, and I can't wait for the next volume to release in America. There are a total of 6 translated cases so far, and my guess is that 2 more will be in the final volume.
The Casebooks, in my opinion, offered some entertainment, but I didn't really enjoy them as much as the other two sub-series'. It is a collection of a ton of fan stories compiled into two volumes. The first volume centers around Phoenix and the Fey sisters, while the second volume focuses on Edgeworth and Gumshoe. There certainly is a lot of content, but it doesn't have the right Ace Attorney feel. And some of the time, I can't even make out what the heck was going on.
So anyway, if you have read them, what was your favorite? What is your opinion on these manga?
Till next time,
