RAWR.

I'm getting my WiFi USB sometime soon in the mail. I wanna battle you guys.

Post your friend codes :D

Also, post your possible teams?

POTENTIALS FOR T3H POKEYMAN TEEM

Adamant Machamp w/ No Guard
@Choice Band
252 ATT, 252 HP, 4 Speed

Stone Edge
Fire Punch
Ice Punch
DynamicPunch

Machamp is a physical sweeper for me with pretty good attack and HP to hopefully take a hit or two before going down. With No Guard, Dynamicpunch is guaranteed to land, and it’s powerful and will auto-dizzy… but in the event that, say, I run out of PP on that move, I have Submission as a backup Fight attack. EQ is strong and of course useful, and… well, I wanted an active party member with Rock Climb to get around the world. >.> I’m concerned that I don’t have enough of a variety of attacks on him, and want to know what else I should be going for.

As far as items go... well, I'm not sure if I should just go with the Black Belt/Fist Plate (which is better?)... probably give him the Choice Band, though, since he'll mostly be DynamicPunching people to death.

Adamant Gallade w/ Steadfast (Shiny!)
@Focus Sash / BrightPowder
252 ATT, 252 Speed, 4 HP

Psycho Cut
Close Combat
Earthquake
Shadow Sneak

Gallade could I guess be considered my second physical sweeper. He’s pretty much my “eye for an eye” Pokey, which is what the Focus Sash is for—specifically built to counter Fighting types that could seriously hurt my team (Close Combat for Lucario, Earthquake for Infernape, Psycho Cut for the rest). Even if they outspeed him, he’s guaranteed to live through at least one hit, and with his high Attack and STAB on Close Combat/Psycho Cut (or Infernape’s 4x weakness to EQ), he should return the favor with a OHKO. Assuming the enemy lives because they had a Focus Sash too or something, well, that’s what Shadow Sneak is for.

As far as items... well, the Focus Sash is to ensure that he does his job with at least ONE enemy. His versatility of moves (and the fact that both Close Combat and Psycho Cut get STAB) makes me hesitant to give him a Choice Scarf, even if being able to outspeed the opponent and get them without having to sacrifice himself would really help.

Or perhaps a Brightpowder... how much does it lower their accuracy by? If they can't hit him, then they can't kill him...

Calm Umbreon w/ Synchronize
@Lefties
252 HP, 252 SpDef, 4 Def

Toxic
Baton Pass
Mean Look
Wish

One of the few Pokeys I took a pre-arranged moveset for, Umbreon is my wall/harasser. Fairly standard moveset—Mean Look to keep the opponent there, Baton Pass to a counter, kill away. Or I can keep Umbreon in, Toxic for MASSIVE DAMAGE, use Wish to heal herself or teammates as necessary. I have no idea what to give her for an item, though, and I’m particularly concerned that Substitute and Taunt completely shut her down—advice?

Lefties means that she heals more over time while walling/Toxic-ing... though if she's got Wish, maybe Brightpowder would be better, meaning that they can't attack her then (in that case, perhaps Toxic would be better off switched with Confuse Ray?)

Timid Roserade w/ Natural Cure
@Black Sludge/Miracle Seed/Life Orb/Brightpowder
252 Speed, 252 SpAtt, 4 HP

Sludge Bomb
Sleep Powder
Energy Ball
Leech Seed

I guess you could call Roserade a special sweeper? Maybe? Due to low HP/Defense, she’s pretty fragile—hence Sleep Powder. Put the enemy to sleep, do as much damage to them as she can before they wake up. I don’t expect her to survive too much, but Leech Seed is there so that the other Pokeys in my team can take advantage of it if she goes down/switches out. Since I’m gambling on being able to kill them while they’re asleep, though, I was wondering if maybe I should try and breed one with Leaf Storm to replace Energy Ball as her Grass-type attack? It’s significantly more powerful, of course.

As she's no longer built around Giga Drain, no more Big Root with her... but I'm not sure what to give her in return. Does Black Sludge restore HP every turn a la Lefties? Even so... I'm hesitant to give her that, as she's not meant to take much damage in the first place, so healing is sort of pointless. Brightpowder to increase survivability by not getting hit, perhaps.

Oh, question... does Life Orb boost the power of ALL attacks, or just Physical ones? Description sort of weird. Because if it boosts her SpAtt too, then I could give her that and have her regain the HP lost with Leech Seed.

Calm Empoleon w/ Torrent
@Lefties
252 SpAtt, 252 SpDef, 4HP

Yawn
Ice Beam
Stealth Rock
Surf

Not sure what to do with Empoleon. Decent SpAtt, STAB Surf can certainly put a hurting on Pokeys weak to it, which thankfully includes Tyranitar (though Ttar IS faster and probably has EQ, which… yeah, that’s a problem). Ice Beam kills Salamence, Stealth Rock, Yawn...

As far as items... Quick Claw is a savior when it procs, but too unreliable. Since he's mostly based around Specials, I was thinking the Wise Glasses just to boost their power. No Choice items, since he'll probably be using both Surf AND Ice Beam (to take out pesky Salamences... thanks to Steel typing, Draco Meteor shouldn't kill it, and Ice Beam retaliation = G'bye). He's probably more tanky than Roserade, so maybe a Lefties or Shell Bell would be... all right?

Lonely Staraptor w/ Intimidate
@Choice Scarf/Band/Sharp Beak/Shell Bell
252 Speed, 252 Attack, 4 SpDef

Close Combat
Roost
Brave Bird
Return

Starraptor is I guess another physical sweeper, and Brave Bird/Close Combat/Return (‘cause he looooves me) should all hurt a decent amount. That’s… kind of it with him. He's quick, but in order to take down some of the more pesky enemy Pogeys, he has to be even quicker... so perhaps a Choice Scarf? Really, he's just there for Brave Bird and Close Combat.

(Non-100 Pokemon, Potentials)

(thanks aodtr666!)
Timid Alakazam
@Choice Scarf
252 SpAtt, 252 Speed, 4HP

Psychic
Shadow Ball
Energy Ball
Focus Blast

Great SpAtt, great Speed, lots of move diversity to counter most things.

Bold Blissey
@??? Lefties?
252 SpDef, 252 Def, 4SpAtt

Oh, Blissey. Common as hell, but for a reason. Ludicrous HP, crazy good SpDef. Aromatherapy, Seismic Toss, Softboiled, Ice Beam

Naughty Arcanine
@ ???
252 Att, 252 Speed, 4 SpAtt

I needed a good Fire-type, I thought… and without an easy way to get Blaziken or Chimchar, Arcanine was a good bet. Good Attack and SpAtt. No idea what to give him for an item, though, and I’m not sure what a good movepool would be. Crunch, ThunderFang for dealing with pesky Water Types, probably Flare Blitz… and then what? Overheat?

Jolly Luxray
252 Att, 252 Speed, 4 HP

As much as I like Luxray as a cool Pokemon, I’m not sure this guy has a place on my team. I do need some electric attacks, yes, but… yeah. What should I do with Luxray? He’s got Thunder Fang and Crunch, the other two move slots are available for any TMs, though.

Timid Jolteon
252 Speed, 252 SpAtt

This is the one Pokemon I actually don’t have right now—however, I do have a female Timid Eevee, whom I can breed with an Everstone to try and get a similar-natured offspring. Jolteon could likely replace Luxray as my Electric type, but I don’t really know what I should be training it for other than its crazy-high Speed.

Shadow Ball
Thunderwave
Thunderbolt
Substitute

Threats

As far as threats go... well, again, see the disclaimer at the beginning.

I HAVE identified that several of the team shares a weakness to fighting moves (Empoleon, Umbreon, and Blissey)... and that since many fighting pokemon will likely be running with Fire/Ice/Thunder punch, etc... this means Roserade and Staraptor are at risk, too. So, I've attempted to counter this, with primarily Staraptor and Gallade acting as fighting-type counters (Starraptor to hopefully outspeed most fighters and Brave Bird them, Gallade as I explained above).

Other than the team's weakness to fighting... well, without a good fire type, I think that Skarmory might be a problem, which is why I'm raising Arcanine. But as far as anything else? I'm afraid I'm... just not familiar enough with the metagame as it stands now, individual movesets and all that, to be a really solid judge.

*goes and designs her entire team to counter every single one of Funk's moves >DD*
:P

Whoot. Can't wait til you get your Wifi so I can battle you~
....My team is teh suck right now though because it doesn't exist :P
I have:
Luxray
Infernape
Golduck
Quagsire (YES TWO WATERS I AM TEH SUCK :D)

But those were just the ones I used for the E4 and are not fit for Wifi-ing :P
...And I don't even have my whole Wifi team planned. Suffice to say that it will include a Meganium, Luxray, and Blaziken, only one of which is actually existant/past level 1 right now :P
.........LONG STORY SHORT, I HAVE NOTHING OF SUBSTANCE TO POST IN THIS THREAD BUT FEEL I MUST BECAUSE IT'S POKEMON :D

Anyway, Friend Code: 1375-4327-8201, if anyone wants to like...battle four Pokemon who aren't trained in any particularly special way and have two of the same type, I'm perfectly willing? :D

Bleah... I haven't gotten too far in D/P. Once we're on summer break I'm gonna be playing non-stop, however.

I need to upload my Pokies from Ruby, though. I'm not gonna list all the Pokemon I have on there, though... I've got about 65 level 100s alone (I have WAY too much time... I think the play time is about 500 hours).

Still, I'm really lazy and can never be bothered to EV train properly... the natures I don't mind so much, but IVs confuse the hell outta me.

I AM having a Mothim on my team, though. I don't care if they're crap, I really love them. And Bronzong. Simply for the name :3

Tentative team plan:
Luxray (definite)
Meganium (definite) (yes I know there are 45235 better grass pokes and better starters I don't care :'D)
Blaziken (definite)
Blissey (not entirely definite, but mostly)
A water poke...I have a Golduck and a Quagsire trained but >> (not definite)
Altaria or Gardevoir (definitely one or the other--which one, I don't know >>)

...Aaand don't expect a good battle for a while because any attempt at planning for me so far has gone...badly >>; So far I don't even have anything but my Meganium planned and it is OH GOD HORRIBLE (movesets AND evs are oh god horrible).
I need to play Pokemon more often and GET THESE PEOPLE TRAINED ALREADY >(

I learned to respect Meganium after losing to that one in one of the first single round on Colosseum's Hard mode about a million times. You know, that one with both screens, Leech Seed and Synthesis while holding Leftovers. That thing was stupidly evil. >.>

I finally killed it with Kyogre, of all things.

Ugh. in my hour-and-twenty-minutes battle last night... just when I thought it was all going fine, I'd killed his CurseLax, leaving me with 6x Def/Att and him with no buffs. Then after I OHKO his next three guys, his second to last is a Sceptile. Substitutes, Leech Seeds.

Since I'm using a BP team, I didn't know that Baton Pass carries Leech Seed with it too. >.<

He'd Sub, I'd kill the sub, Leech Seed + Leftovers would damage me and restore 3/4 of what he used to make the Sub. So I had to kill him 1/16th at a time.

Gah, considering Leech Seed is pretty much a MUST for a good Meganium, I'm still kicking myself for not breeding it onto her (I got the egg from a friend and was planning on breeding with the hatched poke, but I had this weird sentimental little "OH GOD IT'S SO CUTE IT SHALL BE MY SQUISHY I'MA NAME IT SILVER AND IT'S MAH BABY :D *runs off to train it WITHOUT PLANNING FIRST because it's staring at me endearingly*" moment because I was so happy at getting a girl first try >>; WTF Silver, WTF.)
And now I've gotten 3/4 of its EVs set so I don't particularly want to do it over...><;
.........But I suppose I have to D:

OMFG, I massively approve of your NGE-named Pokemon :3

My beating-the-game team is (with random natures, EVs and such):

Eliza - Infernape (f)

Flame Wheel (until I get Flamethrower)
Close Combat (Yes.)
Mach Punch (This has actually saved me a lot. There are so many 1st-turn strike moves in this game)
Torment (I don't know why I have this, actually >.> I'll give her Return later)

Bacura - Bronzong (none)

Gyro Ball (which sucks big time and I want something better)
Extrasensory (until I get Psychic)
Hypnosis (I get lucky with this a lot, actually)
Confuse Ray (Yum.)

Kanni - Purugly (f)

Body Slam (for paralysis and STAB)
Slash (after they're paralysed for the CH-ratio)
Faint Attack (for foggy areas)
Iron Tail (for Rock-types)

Virgile - (green) Gastrodon (m)

Surf (Obviously)
Body Slam (which is awesome when it paralyses, because Virgy's speed sucks)
Mud Bomb (God, I want Earthquake...)
Waterfall (I know, I know... I hate needing HMs >.>)

Cooper - Mothim (m)

Moveset pending. Currently has Protect, Tackle and Hidden Power because he's level 20.

...and something else. I've been concentrating on my Pokedex more than anything, so I've got lots of level 40+ Pokemon including Luxray (Raine), Staraptor (Ringo), Lopunny (Meretta), Blissey (Nonni), Foatzel (Jinnary) and Mitsurugi the Pikachu, but they're all either overused, crap or both.

I want a Mothim and possibly a Lumeneon on my competitive team, plus my awesome combo of Marowak and Ninjask from Ruby (Speed Boost and Thick Clubs ftw, yo). I'd also quite like to make my shiny Zubat into something that strikes terror into the hearts of people.

Does anyone know of a list of all the Pokemon and what EVs they give? I used to have one, but lost it...

My party (mainly future, once I get my Arcanine from my friend this party will be alllllll mine!)

Snorlax (f) Timid Nature
Immunity

Body Slam
Crunch
Giga Impact
Oder Sleuth

It stays out there A LONG time, and has the ability (thanks to Odor Sleuth) to hit Ghost types with Normal types. Crunch to get rid of those pesky psychics!

Umbreon (m) Careful Nature
Synchronize

Faint Attack
Mean Look
Dark Pulse
Psychic

TAKE THAT FIGHTING TYPES!! Ha! Umbreon knows Psychic! *Evil menacing look*

Rhyperior (m) Hasty Nature
Lightning Rod

Avalanche
Hammer Arm
Stone Edge
Earthquake

Combo move. Hammer Arm then Avalanche. Hammer arm slows Rhyperior even more than it is (it's soooo slow...) But Avalanche doubles power if you're hit first. *More evilness*

Feraligatr (f) Brave Nature
Torrent

Crunch
Blizzard
Dragon Pulse (or Dragon Claw...)
Hydro Pump

This is the best water starter due to the fact it can learn Dragon moves. I love it to death.

Arcanine (m) (No clue on the nature...)
Intimidate

Flamethrower
Extreme Speed
Overheat
Giga Impact

I LOVE ARCANINE SO MUCH. I happen to prefer Flamethrower over Fire blast becasue 1.) it hits more often and 2.) it has more PP from the get-go.

Torterra (f) Brave Nature
Overgrow

Earthquake
Crunch
Leaf Storm
Giga Drain

My starter. I was happy to start off with a female. So I can breed her.

Thanks, Vickinator!

Mine's 60-something hours and I haven't even beaten the E4 yet...
I had about 200 on my Crystal, well into the hundreds on my Yellow (but the clock won't go past 100-and-something (plus a glitch messed it up anyway)) and I'm on 600 on Ruby.

Oh, I remember my first Umbreon (level 100, too) having Faint Attack, Bite, Psychic and Confuse Ray. Oh, those were the days.

I love your names, Funk. Especially the eons. Mine on Ruby were Nwacha (Umbreon), Onett (Espeon), Deanna (Vaporeon), Becky (Jolteon) and Agni (Flareon). I spent so long getting Agni, Deanna and Becy to be both female and have decent natures. I traded Nwacha and Onett over from Colosseum, so they're totally mixed.
And back on Crystal I just gave them all thier French names because they sounded so cool; Mentali, Noctali, Voltali, Aquali and Pyroli. I'm not going to insult your intelligence by telling you which one is which.

I think I've assembled my team! (Or at least planned it. None of them exist yet, and one lacks a moveset. :meekins: )
My team is mainly focused on a BP chain, but in case I get messed up or hazed, I always have solid critters to depend on.

Spoiler: Cut because I hate longness. Open it if you want.
Ninjask (Mr. Bug?)
Protect
Baton Pass
Swords Dance
X-Scissor

Vaporeon (Sponge?)
Substitute
Acid Armor
Baton Pass
Surf

Girafarig (No idea for name)
Calm Mind
Baton Pass
Psychic
Thunderbolt?

Togekiss (Name pending)
Wish
Baton Pass
Body Slam
Air Slash

Absol (Chloe)
Night Slash
Psycho Cutter
Rock Smash?
Baton Pass

Lucario (I'll name it when I get it)
Moveset pending.

The idea here is to complete the BP chain and pass it to the final sweeper. I'm having trouble settling Lucario's moveset, because he can be both Physical and Special. (Aura Sphere vs Close Combat...oh my poor aching head)

Also, a quick question...
Is the "Wild < Trained" only true because of EVs? (Would it be better to train a lower-level critter or stick with something caught at a higher one?)

My Girafarig's called Hannah just because it's a palindrome. :3

Nonono, don't have Rock Smash on a competitive team ever. It's the worst move ever, and even if you use it some something that has a quadruple weakness, it'll only do 80 BD (at least, inR/S/E), so a maxed Return is better. Anything's better. I personally like Aerial Ace.

I think...
Rare Candied Pokemon < Wild Pokemon < Daycare Pokemon < Trained Pokemon < EV-trained Pokemon. I think. It's generally best to breed so you can raise it from level 1 with the EVs you want... plus any egg moves (it's worth using the serebii.net D/P dex for a list of egg moves). And use Synchronise to get the nature you want (I know that works in Emerald; not too sure about D/P).

Okami... Umbreon is better off as a wall. And if you don't have Baton Pass, Mean Look is pretty useless.

I'm actually switching out my Umbreon for a Houndoom (once I get it.) So Umbreon is a place holder for now. Or I could replace Umbreon with Espeon (such high SpAtk!!)

Well, anyway. I want my Arcanine. :phoenix: My friend needs to give it to me.

If you have an Arcanine, get an Espeon instead of a Houndoom. You don't want more types that are weak to Water, Rock and Ground than you need.

Unless you really like them; I've had some fun mono-type teams before. I don't really like truly competitive battling... half the fun lies in using Pokémon you like, and I'd sooner win with a team of my favorites than some pseudo-legendaries that I don't really like or care about.

Hence my Eon team. Eevee's always been my favorite, and now with Leafeon and Glaceon, it's possible to have a full Eevee team! (Poor Flareon D:)

Yeah, uh, I went with gods and goddesses for my names, other than Gallade, which HAD to be Engarde.

I like Osiris, Amphitrite, Freyja, Persephone, Naum, and Ceres the best out of those.

Actually, Danni, my friend is making a fighting team. Lucario, Infernape, Breloom, Poliwrath, Gallade, Hitmonchan/Lee ... it's actually fairly vicious.

My FR Flying team was fun, if cheap and overused. I had Charizard (Hlìn), Pidgeot (Wilber), Dragonite (Nukua), Scyther (Ryublade), Aerodayctl (Ra) and Articuno (Glacewing).

I wish I knew where half my nicknames even come from...

And Scyther>Scizor. Hah.

No, Rock Smash was upgraded to 40 power in D/P. Which, you know, still doesn't make it worth it, just felt like correcting you 8D

Also, Rare Candies are only bad because they ignore EVs, so there's nothing wrong with a Rare Candied Poke if you wait til all your EVs are in place.
I don't know if there's a difference between wild/trained as far as stats minus EVs go :yuusaku: But if you have to breed any moves on'em then you don't really have a choice anyway.
And yes, Synchronise works for natures in D/P :)

I'm...trying to plan an Altaria and it's making me DIZZY. So far I have 4 randomly chosen moves, none of which it learns naturally lawl, so I'm trying to breed FOUR MOVES onto it and..ayeayeaye. So far I have a Gyrados breeding with a Remoraid to get Ice Beam, then breeding with Swablu...but that's 1 of 4 attacks. Dizzydizzydizzy.

I ramble because I can :D

Anyone suggesting Altaria/Blissey movesets, that'd be great >>

I hate it when they move around the effects of moves between versions... I've learnt the power, accuracy, PP, type and everything of what seems like a billion moves, and then they go and bring out a new game and change everything! >.>

I miss Red and Blue, where Ice Beam was inexplicably super-effective against Charizard.

...I'd just save up and get TM14 (?) instead of all the breeding... but I'm lazy like that.

I'm not gonna suggest D/P movesets because I'm still not used to all the moves and new effects and stuff (I still can't get over the fact that Bite's now physical)... though my Ruby Altaria had Dragon Dance, Earthquake, Aerial Ace and... oh bugger, I forget. But she was a great physical sweeper anyways.

Blissey must. Have. Counter. I'd suggest Softboiled, too... but I've never really used one.

.....................TMs work too *runs off to find out how to get Ice Beam* >>

Question on counter: Does it double the RAW power of the opponent's attack, or does it just double the damage done to your Pokemon? If it's the former I'm giving it to my Blissey.

Also, I'm considering having Blissey with Rest and Meganium with Synthesis or Blissey with Soft-boiled and Meganium with Rest...any reason I should do one or the other, or just stick with Rest for both? >>

So far my (VERY hesitant) Altaria plan is as such:
Ice Beam
Aerial Ace
Roost
Haze (LOOK OUT URBY >8D)

.....I'unno if I'm even keeping ANY of that, but there it is. Skipping out on a dragon move because Ice Beam does everything Dragon does plus more....but then I miss out on the STAB >.>; Oh well.
I dun even know what EVs to use because that plan don't seem entirely tankish OR sweeperish, although Altaria specializes in Special Defense. ...I think.

...I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. *spammyspamspam*

Okay... I'm going with Espeon over Houndoom. I realize most of my Pokemon know dark-type moves... A lot of Crunch in my move sets...

I realized my friend (who's a total perv, BTW) made a trainer group called "Rapist"... I knew that was coming. My group is called Athena. :pearl:

@silverzephyr - counter will have the user retaliate inflicting double the damage (health points deducted). this move has a negative priority, making blissey go last. it's also nice to use if the user has loads of health points. rest isnt really preferred for blissey, since she already has softboiled.

@cantfakethefunk - can i challenge other users in this thread? thanks

ps: i use rock smash with my scizor. it's pretty neat. technician powers up > 60 base power moves and the secondary effect works wonders against curse users like snorlax, lickilicky etc.
